Your commentary is top notch my man! I love the points you make and how you established constructive criticism. Well done! This deserves a subscription
As a Lionel train collector as well, it's not just the nascar stuff they are having issues with. Thier train line has seen the quality go down while prices continue to rise. This is why monopolies are bad and should be abolished. I miss the days of Team Caliber and old school Action Diecast. The quality was worth the cost.
Racing Champions actually made the midfield and backmarker drivers, we had Hot Wheels making extremely high quality diecasts, I want a Hot Wheels NASCAR line again so badly! If Hot Wheels got rights to Hendrick drivers plus Blaney, RFK and the Wood Brothers and Petty GMS and Trackhouse they'd have a great roster of drivers, I'd much rather buy Greenlight IndyCar 1:64s than the gold series as the gold series is just slightly better Authentics while Greenlight IndyCars are a much higher quality product with actual rubber tires, I'd much rather spend $10 on them as they actually are $10 worth of a diecast.
Wow, that's just... sad. I collect model trains as well (HO and OO scale), and being a NASCAR fan in addition to that, when I heard that Lionel had taken over producing the 1:64 NASCAR die-casts, I thought "Oh wow, Lionel and NASCAR, what a treat!" Sadly, this is Lionel we're talking about, and the same irritating tactics, lack of quality control, atrocious distribution, and exorbitant prices are par for the course with them. These exact same issues have plagued their O scale trains for years, and it seems like they haven't learned their lesson at all with their NASCAR license. Lionel became way too comfortable resting on their laurels as the largest (and basically only major) manufacturer of O scale trains, and now that they exclusively hold the NASCAR license, their products show it. EDIT: that point about distribution and the fact that some drivers aren't even represented really ticks me off as well. I don't care if it's a backmarker driver, I like collecting all the different drivers I can find, especially because we see these drivers and cars every week, why not now? I think if Harrison Burton of all drivers can have a diecast, we should at least get ones of Michael McDowell and AJ Allmendinger to go along with it.
The very first time I've heard about Salvinos Jr Model making the NextGen cars and I was like I really miss building a NASCAR model kits and it's been years I haven't built one so now I decided to buy Salvinos Jr Model NASCAR NextGen model kits plus ordering add-ons carbon fiber decals painting all the details that actually details from real cars. The last diecast that I've ever bought was 2017 Dale Jr AXALTA/Budweiser schemes that he ran at Homestead in his final career start.
Every time I go to target the distribution issues are very well shown, today was the first time that I’ve been able to find diecasts past wave 2, and it was an interstate batteries Kyle Busch from wave 3
Action racing please come back 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻. Also don’t forget to mention the severe lack of engine and interior detail on 1/24. We get next to nothing. Plus the quality control is shit.
My main issue is I haven't seen any cars on the pegs and they are so late getting them in. I still see waves from 2022 now and Kyle Busch cars that are from last year when he was in the 18. I want to buy but there is no point when the shelves are bare, and the stores have skipped waves and don't order any diecast. I would be surprised to see how long Lionel stays as Nascar diecast maker. The lack of cars on store shelves is what has made me stop collecting recent stuff.
Great video man. One complaint I have with them that you touched on with how they need enough preorders to make a diecast is that every wave seems to be the same drivers over and over again. Always a Chase Elliot, Ryan Blaney, Truex, and Harvick scheme. It took a stroke of luck and months to find a Ross Chastain scheme on a shelf. I'm sure it will take forever to find a Kyle Busch #8 RCR car in a wave. Or how about a Tyler Reddick #45 23XI car?
This is so sad! Honestly, looking at the 1:64's that I did end up getting (William Byron's race-win at the Atlanta race I went to last March and Chastain's "wall ride" car), they're actually pretty good quality from inspecting them. The Chastain car did take quite awhile to ship (ordered in early November last year, just got it last week at end of May), but other than that I think I got pretty lucky. Hopefully Lionel will clean up their act next year!
Well, I preordered a $90 1:24 Kyle Busch "First RCR Win" Lucas Oil car and that beatch better be perfect. For crack cocaine prices and what will be a 10 month wait, I will accept nothing less.
2:38 the empty pegs are actually on the store if they want to order a lot of quantities of the NASCAR Diecast or if they don’t want to restock often. But I’m not defending Lionel
The grainy decals on these NASCAR Authentics cars reminds me of the Disney Pixar Cars diecast line when they switched from China to Thailand and we get cars with grainy decals on them. I do agree that 2022 hits a new low when it comes to the Authentics line with the PTC mold appearing in these waves along with the grainy decals on some of the EL mold cars. I also don't like this meet MOQ BS because not everyone has the money to afford it, or they don't wanna spend too much money on it. I also can't stand those idiots out there who defend stuff like this by bringing up this typical excuse.
Awesome first commentary. So is the real fix to change the licensing of these lines to begin with? Seems like breaking Lionel's monopoly would create competition that would promote better product. It's easy to be passive aggressive when you are the only game in town.
Idk why nascar won’t just move on from Lionel, Lionel has been so awful as of late like diecast from 20 years ago have better quality than the ones now like all Lionel does is raise the prices and lower the quality they need to do something or just go away the amount of diecast I’ve gotten has decreased alot
They need to quit making PTC molds and only make EL molds without blurry decals...Lionel just sucks with distribution, Winner's Circle kept pegs stocked with 1:64s and they even made 1:24 scales! And...they even had brand new season diecasts on the pegs 2 weeks before the Daytona 500! That needs to come back! Most of the really popular driver's paint schemes are revealed much earlier so no excuses why they can't when Winner's Circle got them out quickly, even if they aren't 100% accurate to the final version that's fine most old school diecast weren't exactly like the final car as they used an earlier prototype that was 90% there.
lionel ig doesnt seem to care i started collecting in 2020 and the quality was great no really issues with the car sometimes suspension with the wheels and 2021 pretty much all of the waves in those years were good but then we started to see a decline in the quality after that year like this stuff is just super simple to make i dont understand how they can mess up something like this so badly it clearly is concerning but ofc they dont see it as an issue like on there podcast they say there gonna fix it but do they ever do no they do not so bascially this is my theory if there were to be another diecast manufacturer that emerged and started making diecast in all someone else has to make diecast we have seen it before with all of the other diecast owners of spinmaster and etc lionel will eventually be buyed out i hope someone else takes it spinmaster actually started making nascar diecast again but it was just with the monster trucks i do hope that they come back to make diecast cause thats one thing that i would love to see happen
Dude you know just bc it's worth $5 doesn't mean it's supposed to be cheap and it doesn't excuse the horrendous quality consumers deserve better than that

The old Racing Champions, Hot Wheels, Action Racing and RCCA die-casts were awesome. The Racing Champions ones in particular are my favorite.
I couldn't have said it better myself all your points and your reasonings was spot on.
Pretty much took most of the thoughts right out of my mouth. Great job with the commentary man! 👍

They haven't just ruined NASCAR Authentics, they ruined everything they touched.
@@briangriffinfamilyguyfan81 They make me sad
I just buy gold series at this point. I’m trying to sell all of my old authentics knowing I can spend 2 dollars more and get much better quality.

@@user-ed1yx2fq7l The sticker quality is trash, and they just look much worse than EL mold Diecast on my shelf

Back in the 90s and 00s there were many companies, in the 2010s it came down to two and then in 2016 Lionel bought the other company (Spinmaster) out.
