@@aishaqidwai Thought about having a hot chocolate. Became so comfy in my blanket and then saw Emmie's video notification pop up. I said, nah not getting out anymore. Plus, I didn't have the permission of my cat of getting up XD
I am the very odd person who loves winter and loves the long, dark days. Summer (July/August) is when I start to stay home all the time to avoid heat, bugs and smells. I’m the lone person out twirling in the streets in January!
emma there is a non fic book called 'wintering' by Katherine May which i am currently reading. it has the theme of slowing down and taking care of yourself during the winters of life. so when i saw the title of your vlog i literally squealed bc im loving this book so much and it resonates so well with this vlog. happy wintering ❤
winter is also my favorite season 🩵❄️ i feel SO SEEN by your winter videos!!! i have the opposite of seasonal depression when it starts getting darker and colder, to me it’s cozy season!!!
See, all those countries in the very north of the world are routinely named the happiest in the world. I feel like it might be less SEASONAL depression and something about the way our society is structured, at least here in the US. Always a pleasure to see you, Emma, and I hope your December is going smashingly.
Only a few moments in and its already such a cosy vlog, I just submitted my last assignment of the semester and cannot wait to settle down and watch the whole thing. x
Wonderful, Emma. Thank you! You put so much thought and skill into what you said about winter. Your love for words shines so brightly in darkness. And you've inspired me to do some decorating tonight!
here in Australia, we just had one heatwave and I believe another is to follow next week. I just got back from the beach. so obviously can't really relate to the winterish content of this video, but it's still so comforting and cosy to watch! ily emmie
We don't have 4 seasons in my country, so I never really experienced true winter. But, whenever I think about this year and last year recently, I've come to realize that a lot of the best memories and relationships that I have, had happened or been strengthened during the late three months of the year as well as the earliest three months. What I have trouble dealing with is the middle, where a lot of change happens, where school years end and teachers are different and subjects are different, that everything seemed to come to an end. I feel like the cold atmosphere of winter makes the warm and bright experiences we have during it all the more heartfelt. I think that the lingering festiveness the first months have, make the days a wonderful time to be alive in, as well as the climax of school. The interval that happens between these two, pales in comparison.
Even though I live in Australia and it’s summer right now I still loved this video!! I love winter and wish we had snow ❄️ THE XMAS ORNAMENTS ARE ADORABLE!!!!
Hi! I just read beartown last week! I will say it is a different flavor than the other Backman I have read. Its more serious and it took me till 75% through to really bond with the characters. As a northern Minnesota woman I also fear hockey towns...he is so accurate at creating that environment my skin crawls. Happy Winter!
i've been going through some tough times lately and the winter sun schedule doesn't help... watching your comforting vlogs and seeing your love for winter despite the ups and downs is truly so special to me
I just love how I can tell how you feel about a book based on 2 seconds of reaction. You were like "so many thoughts" about Bear Town and I was like yep it ain't it 😂Been here for 3 years now, I feel like we are friends
honestly thank goodness for your videos at this time of year! I'm sorry you're struggling with the winter blues too but as someone who gets them so bad every year, I find your content so soothing and helpful for romanticising the season
As a Brazilian, I really can’t relate lol we are in the middle of summer (I can’t take this heat anymore) and even in the winter the day only gets like 1h shorter. But anyways, loved to see that my fav booktuber also enjoys f1 and is a piastra fan!!
I loved this vlog, considerng we haven't seen the sun over here in Serbia for two weeks now. Also, Emma, RED is 100% your color. You glow in it. (Color palettes are all the rage now, and I never quite understood it, but I'd be willing to bed red is on your color palette)!
Hi Emma I love your blue sweater with the polar bear, the wall decor, cat face close-ups. I hope you're enjoying the winter. Like you, I've gotten some books myself lately. A mixture of poetry and science books really ⛄ Ho Ho Ho!
Your red zippered cardigan was stunning! You look so good in red. I disliked Bear Town because I feel like I’ve lived in Bear Town the majority of my life. I hate hockey and yeah, it was just not going to happen where I was going to give this sport any more time in my life lmao. Enjoy your wintering! I come alive when the days shorten and the cold sets in. I think it’s partly because I embrace it and make my home a cozy cocoon, my oven is my best friend, and I keep my snowshoes by the door. It’s been a way to look forward to it…now if I can find a wa6 to feel that way in summer when my skin breaks out in rashes because of heat, that would be great.
Omg yess!! So needed this! It's also getting quite a bit colder here (and only showed once, like a month ago :/) so this will get me the good winter vibes instead of just the coldness when I have to cycle to school 🥲❄
Haven't watched the video yet and don't know if you mentioned it in the vlog, but just learnt that "one hundred years of solitude" was adapted into a tv show and it's out now!! 🤯
I swear the cold and the dark didn't use to bother me that much but now that I'm in my mid twenties it's like all the serotonin leaves my brain once the sun starts setting at 4 pm
I read all three in the,Bear town trilogy. Bear Town is the best in the series. The second one needs a good edit and the third one is just so heartbreaking that I was yelling, "nooooooo!". Still, worth reading.
Seems like I will have to wait to dispel the winter gloomies until after I have finished writing all my term papers but the first 40 seconds has given me a boost and I will have some nice videos to look forward to when they're all done :)
Hello Emma. I would love more episodes of this wintering series. I am going to MOOMINVALLEY soon (AKA Finland). Very excited to experience snow for the first time 🥹
As a winter lover and a stay at home enthusiast, I make lists and I try to make them as wide as possible. For example my winter movie list has 4 categories; Christmas, Classics, Cozy and Cold. This way I have many options to choose from. I do the same for books. On that topic I have a suggestion close to your heart :) Imagine reading about a magical hotel full of secrets with a massive library called Winterhouse ❄❄❄ Winterhouse books are a middle grade trilogy written by Ben Guterson. I finished the Aggie Morton Series this summer - read them in order seasonly - looking for something similar I found the Winterhouse and added them to my winter tbr. I know You read The Body Under the Piano, the second one Peril ar Owl Park is perfect for winter too. Hope You have a cozy and magical time this winter filled with snow ❄❄❄
Hi, Emma :) That penguin mug is so beautiful ... but please take care with that . Maybe you can break that penguin with some spoon ... just a little and not notice and you will drink that glass pieces . I wish you a beautiful winter ... you are so beautiful, as always ❤
I live in a place where in recent years the sun is unceasing, endless for most of the year, oppressive and dominating and suffocating. So now that it's finally gone, I feel I can breathe again, and relax, and feel relief and easiness. That's why winter is my favourite season. The loss of the sun during this time of year is a true delight for me, I get to rest, FINALLY, and leave behind an awful state of mind.❄️🧊 I imagine it's the opposite for you in Canada, so I wish you luck🩵
I agree completely with the Beartown remarks, so addictive but the writing is kind of juvenile and banal, especially some dialogues, my favorite character was also Benji as well
Thank you sm for your review on Beartown! I’ve been meaning to read it and im excited to read it (despite the snippets that you read 🤣) ! Love from South Africa 🩷
See to get the FULL story of Beartown, you also have to read the last two books in the trilogy. It’s growth and anthropology. If you stop at Beartown, you’ll miss the whole picture. It’s tough. Also great series but not Backman’s best. You should try Anxious People or A Man Called Ove.
No winter hate here! 🥰 But then, I have photosensitivity and get seasonal depression in the summer, so 🤣 Thank you, the over-dramatics in Fredrik Backman books annoy me, too! I've found that I have to REALLY love the characters and story to put up with it. If I don't, instead of playing on my empathy it shuts it down and I stop caring. I didn't like Bear Town, but I did enjoy A Man Called Ove and Anxious People. Moose cookies! Peak Canadian content right there!
Hello from insanely hot Australia, it's oppressing here, the humidity is incredible suffocating. It's only 5.15am here and it's going to be another hot one. I always wanted to have Christmas in winter. Maybe one day when I'm less afraid of planes and travel and whatnot 😕
