The next song An ocean of strange islands ( lyric video) is the essence of 28 years of Nightwish in style and personal evolution. Great lyrics. For me a masterpiece ❣️🤘
Nice to see your surprise again and again😉. Yes, Nightwish continues to amaze, they are storytellers and draw you into the middle of it. you will still enjoy this👍
As the contributor below me has mentioned, the next track of the album is 'An Ocean of Strange Islands' and follows-on directly from the ending of 'Yesterwynde'. Perhaps you can watch this one next, and then you can play both tracks together in your own time. Tuomas is a indeed a poet, and the deeper you delve into the band and it's lore, you will see the words "Poet", "Ocean" and "Dead Boy" across the canon. Great to see a music fan from a different genre explore music outside of your chosen comfort-zone. Respect. Kevin, your English Cousin across The Pond.
First song and Intro of Yesterwynde is the passionate intro to this album. It is like an old concept album by Pink Floyd, you might take the time to listen to it from the first song all thru to the last one. After about 50 times now it grew on me up to the 5 best albums I own - and I am 64 now and have about 8000 records. The last song -Lanternlight- is my personal song of the year 2024 by far. It is very, VERY different but exactly that is the reason. For me Nightwish has evolved to one of those rare bands, that create art without any consideration to what anybody expected or to say it the short way: Nightwish does Nightwish things. And I predict this record will be recognized in decades, just like Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the moon. Some records last forever. Greetings from Germany
WOW!!! what a glowing review this is!!!! I may have to do exactly what you said and give the whole project a listen. Thank you for taking the time to write this, wow thats amazing!
This is how diverse Nightwish is, from demonic grunting to angelic hymnes. Music suitable for church, opera, movie, arena's, stadiums, moshpit, it is all in their catalog.
There will be lyric videos to all the Yesterwynde album songs. 4 music videos from the album are already out. Next song on the album is An ocean of strange islands and that lyric video is already out. Maybe that next?
@ maybe do them in order which they are on the album if you are not in a hurry with the new songs? After An Ocean of Strange Islands comes The Antikythera Mechanism, but that lyric video sadly is not out yet. #4 The Day Of has a proper video out and so does the song #5 Perfume of the Timeless.
If you like choirs and orchestral combined with metal check out the band Epica with the song Arcana live at the Symphonic Synergy concert. They are awesome aswell .
Yeh it's a strange one, this is effectively just the intro track to the album. Ocean Of strange islands. The following track is absolutely insane, it's everywhere but all ties together. One of my favourite Nightwish songs. Yesterwynde the new album is up there as one of Nightwish's best albums. If you like this track though, it's bookended by the last track on the album Lanternlight which is probably my other favourite song off the album.
Not sure if someone else already pointed out, but Yesterwind is the third and closing part of three concept albums, surrounding Evolution, Nature and Humans with this album about theme's of aging and death. It is very very beautifully done with some of their hardest and softest songs. Also, for every song on this album exists an orchestra version.
The timing of this album is immaculate ❣️ Next one should be Lanterlight. Lanternlight is breathtakingly gorgeous ❣️ Not able to listen to this with dry eyes, it goes straight to your soul. It’s so fragile and strong at the same time. What a gorgeous piece of music composed by Tuomas and so emotionally sung by Floor. Tuomas said that Lanternlight is a song of love to celebrate live of the people that passed. In this case mainly his dad. My favorite song from the new album followed by An Ocean of Strange Islands.
From the beginning this was the song I liked the most, I think that, like more songs from this album, it is about DNA. The atmosphere of a classical English song, reminding me of Purcell. This song was meant to be a normal song on the album, but somehow it ended as a kind of prelude to the album. Too short, but there is also an orchestral version.
Nightwish: "Yesterwynde is a fantastical voyage through time, memory, and the better angels of human nature. Three years in the making, we`re thrilled beyond words to soon share our tenth album with the world!"
You can start your NW journey at any chapter. But since it is a journey through the life of Tuomas (their writer/composer on keys), I feel you should start somewhere near the beginning, like Dead Boys Poem (recording 2018, but the song is from 2000, written when Tuomas was 22-ish, just after he became a superstar in Finland) ua-cam.com/video/S8E3L7ggLMM/v-deo.html
Their live stuff is better. I havent really listened to this new album much. only a couple songs. it was softer than i had hoped for but its probably great still.
Rapper hears Nightwish for the first time!!!!
