The linesman, in fact saved Clark, Clark was gassed, I'd be pissed if I was Marty.
I wish we still lived in a world where Marty McSorely was voted most popular player. These days it would be "that guy's a goon" "he takes too many penalties" "we're always shorthanded" "he doesn't score enough" "useless" "bum" "he adds nothing to the team" "should be banned from the league" blah blah blah from the Bettman fans. The guy scored 41 points while protecting his teammates and taking 400 penalty minutes. That's fucking impressive.
Exactly. Marty was also the Kings' best penalty killer outside Gretzky, a shorthanded scoring threat and able to handle 20+ minutes a night. Hurt his hip in 1995 and wasn't the same player after that. NHL was great then...then Bettman, then the lockout, neutral zone trap, the clutch and grab era...ugh
Gotta love Cole and Neale on colour calling the game. Fairly. Neale even said McSorley's hit was clean because Gilmour shouldn't have crossed the trolley tracks with his head down. As a die hard Maple Leaf they call it fair. Unlike American town announcers. They are absolutely brutally biased and just terrible to listen to. God bless Cole and Neale. You guys are missed calling the games. If and when we get back we have to listen to Dumb and Dumber with Hughson and Simpson...they SUCK. Let them know that if anyone knows them. This east end Torona boy f'n hates them.
Knowledgeable but still homers. I will give you, not as egregious as Boston or Philadelphia. They turn Wendel Clark into a god. Wendel was a good player and fun to watch, but certainly not someone you would put among the league' best at the time.
