What a gifted genius , a very "old soul" ..... no doubt having been at perfecting his art over previous lifetime or lifetimes .... he has that " explosive " power that reminds me of Nureyev as well as an almost shocking level of , not just accurate execution , but such an impressive level of technical command , .
... in short , he is an athletic artist in a rarified realm - a " phenom " ..... absolutely thrilling to behold !!! .... to refer once again , to Nureyev , Simkin dances with a pyrotechnic abandon , which may , at times , seem a bit rough around the edges , but , does not detract from the overarching effect because he embodies the " from the heart " " spirit " of dance .... a maestro at a very young age ..... makes you sit up wirh rapt attention , and very inspiring .... many thanks ☺

@@DanceLineBallet Thanks for your reply to my impressions on this gifted artist . Although much of my early life was spent in classical music - piano at 5 years old , folowed by french horn for 2+ decades , I'm a renaissance man and love all the performing arts and have allways enjoyed exploring , personally, many forms of movement - looking forward to additional content from your valuable channel ☺ Philip

absolutely beautiful, so talented. But at timestamp 2:00 to 2:15 when he is practicing in his studio, how is he doing all those pirouettes without spotting? But he's really amazing and stunning to watch, reminds me a little of classic Baryshnikov.

The first time I came across The La Corsair I was breathless in awe in total awe , his flexibility in that back but a masculine strength , the turn in his L corner when he arches his back after a triple is the most impressive thing I have witnessed on mens ballet for a long long time . He is unique , he is sheer genius in every way but his turns , flawless , double split jetes …,,.., heaven sent him to dance for us . I love your work and your love ❤️ of ballet shines through . Bravo bravo

I saw him when he first joined ABT, at a performance at City Center. He brought the next level to dancing, as Barishnikov moved dance forward from Nureyev, Daniil moved it forward from Barishnikov. Beautiful as well as athletic, unlike many dancers who are featured for their athleticism alone. For some reasons he has not been featured at ABT as much as he should have been.

Re- viewing this 4 days later , I'm struck more deeply by , can't put it any other way, .... Simkin appears , super-human - it looks like , when watching him move , as if the level of unfoldment in his performance is impossible , in other words , what he is doing , and even more , the WAY he is doing it , isn't normal , or in the range of what one might see in a less skilled performer. His power and accuracy shown here are to me - amazing ,astonishing ..... wow !!!☺

Why was the editing chopped up so much??? Of course he is a fabulous dancer but he is also sloppy. If Le Corsair had been shown from the front instead of the stage wings and compared to Baryshnikov‘s version In Turning Point There would’ve been significant differences. Again he is a incredible dancer but not to be compared with Baryshnikov or other Soviet great male dancers.
