Now that you mentioned it, every time one of the minibosses dies in an explosion, the animation looks like it slows down. NEAT!

As a pixel artist, this video blows me away not only because of the quality of the art and animation itself but all the attention to small details like the camera and background objects moving within the pixel grid. I rarely ever see pixel art in video done so well; usually it's like pixel art images (or individual animated sprites) being manipulated using normal video editing lol. Outstanding stuff here. (Also, this video is 17 _entire minutes_ long-- gives me a headache even thinking about making something like this).
As a regular human, this video also blew me away
I like how when Rick brings out the vat of acid Morty is visibly angry I love little details like that

The animating doesn't take that long, but Dan Harmon needs downtime for his cycles alcoholism and recovery. We get two seasons of Solar Opposites for every season of Rick and Morty because Harmon is not involved.

This is basically just a skin running on an already existing game. Like a demo or something. It’s running Tribute’s engine they used for “Mercenary Kings” and “Scott Pilgrim vs the World”. The way stands and attacks are directly stolen from characters in Scott Pilgrim

Actually some of this is out-sourced and a company makes the animation. It's not really a game. Same as the other animations. But they are incredible and I wish there were games like this.

This is the same artist who also did the art for Scott Pilgrim vs the World: The Video Game. The art style and animation here is the style of that game. That game was also a side scrolling beatem up like this. I would love for this to actually be a game. It’s possible
All the assets are done and would just need to be key framed and reanimated for the playable version of this. I don't see why they can't make games like these. They just tease us, and give us cyberpunk 2077.

The sound track, the animation all awesome😎. And think someone animated this to look like a video game instead of making the game is like the most original thing ever.also the references were on spot well done

He already did. Literally all the sprites you need for a full game were made for this video. There's almost no point in NOT making a game now. Platformers like this can be made by a single person if most of the sprites and sounds are already provided.

i love the refrences and the whole rick and morty feel like it's a special episode, also its reminds me of cupheads, the enemies mostly
I love how in this you can tell this games mechanics as if it were a real game
I love the human element Paul adds, like Rick and Morty missing attacks/shots here and there. And the way everything slows to a crawl when there's too much action like a classic bullet hell.
This video is another proof, if needed, that Paul Robertson is an absolute unit of talent in the pixel art industry.

Not very well optimized, if you ask me. They clearly could have skipped some cutscenes here and there, and certain power-ups help out in the long run if you use them right. The Birdperson wings can be kept around as long as you don't take too much damage, and they're a huge help in terms of attack power and maneuverability. Sure, you can't really move along the ground with them, but the air mobility more than makes up for that.

This is not 8 bit. Mario is 8 bit and blocky as shit. These characters are cutting it close to being 64 bit. Which makes it 32bit. Nothing on an NES looks like this..... Nothing.
