I’m going to buy a used 1998 Lexus es300. When I went to go check it out the VIN number wasn’t near the dash board. Does it need to be in all the area you mentioned or is it okay if I find it only on the manufacture stamp or under the passenger seat 2:03

We can title and register it for you, but we will need a VIN/serial number to use. If you don't have a way to obtain one, we would recommend checking with your DMV or title office.
I have a 64' impala shell and frame. No vin plate on the door. I found the stamp on the frame but it might be only partial since it doesn't have the amount of digits my other 64' has. Would that be enough to do something with?
hi i have a question. my car 2011 chrysler matches the vin number plate with the vin on the original title but i noticed that my door has a different vin. Maybe the door was replaced?? i need help, im concerned
Looking to purchase a 71 chevelle but the owner said he doesn't know what happened to the vin. He has tag receipts from when he last had it registered. Said vin was in it when he bought it in 2014 but it caught fire under the hood in 2015. Had it in a shop in 2019 after saving up the money to restore and then COVID happened and the shop owner had to close. Long story short, shop was broken into and lots of parts were stolen off of various cars that were there. WTBS, owner doesn't know if vin was stolen there or at any other time. Is there anywhere else on the car to find the vin? How can i tell if it's stolen etc before committing to purchase?
You can check on the frame as it could be on there, but wouldn't be guaranteed from the sounds of the car. There wouldn't be a way to say whether it's stolen or not unless the VIN were on the vehicle and able to be ran. Even if the VIN was on the car, most vehicles wouldn't show up on the VIN report since the 17-digit VIN wasn't standardized until 1980-81.
I have a 2019 Hyundai Tucson SE. I bought it from a private seller and/or copart . It has all the VIN's but, is missing the one under the passenger seat floor board. Should I be concerned? Is this legal? Help please
The vehicle must have a VIN to qualify. We have to be able to prove to the DMV that the vehicle isn't stolen. They won't accept an application without a VIN.
Got a 35 Ford truck cab that was abandoned 40 some years ago I have no vin anywhere plans are ratrodeing it using a different chassis this one was just a cab I'm in nc
All we need is a bill of sale and VIN/Serial Number. If you don't have a number to use, the new frame you get should have one, then all we need is a bill of sale as proof of ownership to title and register it for you.
Im thinking about buying a vehicle at auction but it has missing vins. Its a newer car 2021 to be exact is this capable of being fixed its a company that deals with auctioning salvage title vehicles
In order for us to work with a vehicle, it must have a VIN on the frame. I would recommend finding one with a title and VIN so it's easier for you to register since one with a missing VIN is likely a stolen vehicle.
@@DirtLegal it was a stolen vehicle but was recovered by the insurance but they had already paid out the person so now the vehicle is being auctioned off at a authorized auction with the primary damage being missing/Altered vin
I'm looking to buy an 86 caprice but the owner says it had gotten stolen 17 years ago and so they just stored it his garage afterward of receiving the car back.. the VIN plate has been removed buy the Thief so can't read the VIN or on the door jamb they have all documents of the car being returned to them from the tow lot and police department is it worth buying how can I find the VIN to match it up?
Finding the VIN could be difficult, you might have to go through the DMV VIN plating process. If you can get a VIN or serial number on the frame of the car then we can title and register it for you as long as there aren't any active thefts
We’re sorry to hear about the issue with your ECU and VIN. Unfortunately, we don’t have a direct solution for this. It might be worth consulting a specialized ECU repair shop or contacting Nissan’s technical support for further assistance.
@@DirtLegal thank you for responding to me. I’m going over to Nissan in an hour to meet with the Z tech. I told them the vin needs to be written to the ecu, they translated that to “find the vin in my ecu” which it’s clearly not there 😂
Bought a 69 chevelle off Craigslist 8 years ago as a dumb kid not knowing anything about VIN/body tags. The guy had the TITLE under his name. I took a picture of everything including his ID. Registered the car under my name , no problems at the dmv, got AAA insurance. Long story short, car ran/sat for about 5 years. No need for smog because of its age, when it was time to pay tags, vin was no longer in the dmv system. They told me this happens often with older cars. So I would purchase my tags from a 3rd party like etags. Never had a problem. Bought a bunch of new stuff for the car and decided to run the vin history just incase. Vin comes out as invalid. After further investigation, vin is not even close as to what a 69 chevelle vin should look like. No vin on dash of the car, or anywhere stamped on the body. Also No body tag. I completely dropped the ball with this purchase. I would have thought that DMV or even AAA would have caught this mistake I warned me that I had a potential fraud case on my hands. What should I do now? I have the previous owners ID and TITLE still saved on my phone. Could the car be stolen and I should contact authorities? How was he even able to get a title for this car with a clearly made up vin? Now that I’m further educated on the matter, I know I cannot proceed on anything knowing this could be potentially a HOT car that now I have the title to under MY name. How can I remedy this? What are my options? Thank you in advance
So, the first step will be to run a VIN check on our website for the VIN you do have. Second, will you email me at sales@dirtlegal.com? This will allow me to help you in a more detailed manner. There's a few directions we can go depending on the specifics, I look forward to hearing from you!

It sounds like the door could have been replaced since the title and VIN on the frame match. This isn't extremely common, but can happen.

I have vin number on truck and paper and they match but I can't find results online
It's a 1963 c10

Yes, you should be able to see all of the vehicle information through the OBBD2 port
