Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift Construction Update Early June 2024 - Coaster Track in Place!

- Universal Hollywood is full steam ahead on the new Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift roller coaster planned for 2026. The ride will start at the upper lot and stretch down the mountain towards the lower lot, flipping riders upside down, launching them multiple times, and doing all that while rotating 360 degrees! As of now, many footers are in place, as well as some supports, and even a few pieces of track!

When it comes to construction there are more hurdles to overcome in the testing phase in California than in Florida. You have a lot more seismic testing to do. Plus, it's being built on the side of a hill. The construction may be complete by the end of the year - weather permitting. However, it'll be in testing until spring. I'd expect a Q1 opening.
I’ll be at HHN this October and I’m so excited to see how far the construction will be! I’m hoping that more track will be in so I can get a better sense of the layout

What's kinda unique is they poured most of the footers initial pour months ago and recovered with dirt as the have continually worked on grading the hill and adding retaining walls. Just crazy how big the finished boxes/footers are. Crazy big.

I can't wait to see elements in place, I'm mostly excited to find out how tall it'll actually be, probably not taller than veloci but its still interesting to think about, especially considering we'll be controlled spinning the whole time.
That one piece of track placed while you were recording would have taken 3 months at Disney 😂
I was expecting it to open WAYYYY earlier. Really hope the opening date moves to sometime in 2025.
When they first announced this ride last year, I was expecting to be a dueling/racing roller coaster. After seeing that the ride was going to be a single track, I figured it wasn't so bad. However, one of new videos that showed an update of Fast and Furious Hollywood Drift and revealed that it's going to be a Spinning Coaster. I'm not really sure if the new ride is going to be as exciting as a racing coaster, but we still have two more years left to go. I think would be really cool to see a NOS Button Steering Wheel in the first car of the train, so they make the ride go faster just in the Fast and Furious movies. Maybe there will be a section where you will hear the NOS Tank sound effects. We'll have to wait until 2026 to see how great Fast and Furious Hollywood Drift will become.
This is cool but b&m track has been spotted at kings dominion looking like its wing track.

I’d rather they take their time, not cut any corners, have awesome theming and make it the best coaster on the west coast. Yeah, I said it! 🏎️🏁 Give other parks a run for their money!
They will with Epic Universe, their main focus currently. I don’t really think this is going to do anything to nearby parks, especially since Disneyland has most of the theme park market in California. They’re a multiple day destination, whereas universal is a one day visit. I do agree with you though!
Disneyland seems to be going downhill lately from what I’ve been hearing! Progress is also fairly slow at Magic Mountain.

This is definitely going to be one of the most expensive roller coasters ever built.
I still don't understand the 2026 opening. We are only half way through 2024. Track is going up. They aren't building a building to enclose it. It's all outside. Why is it not opening for basically 2 years? My brain doesn't comprehend.
I like to think they are saying 2026 so that if problems do arise, they don’t have to delay it. I would be very surprised if it didn’t open by 2025.

Probably lap bar. Most intamin coasters use lap restraints for a more “freeing” experience

The permit and certification is tedious in LA, especially for structural safety. California has the safest buildings designed to withstand earthquakes. It’s a long process, better to start as early as possible.

This will be the much better Fast and Furious attraction compared to Florida's abomination of one.
I hope they bring one to Florida parks as well, the supercharged attraction is easily the worst attraction in the park, Earthquake it's predecessor was far better.
Supercharged is the definition of a downgrade.
