Yep I’ve been doing it for years. I used the small cans and one roll, worksmuch better. You can use even smaller cans too, like empty sterno cans. Also can do the wax and cardboard in a tin for a fire. Use a shallow can like a tuna can, tear or cut cardboard strips the depth of the can and rollin a spiral to fill can. Melt wax ( I use the left overs from the bottoms of jar candles as I go thru them) and pour to fill can right below top of cardboard and let set. To use, light the cardboard as it works like a wick, and makes good emergency heat. Cans do get hot, so always set up in a safe place. I usually have a pie pan or make a foil containing station type thing for it. And make a lid to extinguish too.
Have you tried using the wax can under a flowerpot for heating a small space? Seems it would work better/hotter than the usual tea candles.
One word ....BRILLIANT hugs from Scotland ❤🤗
Game changer! I love being able to light it for pre-hike morning coffee with no worries re extinguishing, not to mention smokeless and no sparks. I attached a paint can opener to the handle.
That's a pretty cool hack, particularly if want want to make stores without getting your clothes saturated in smoke! Another fun idea👍🔥
oh no not the toilet paper, lol.. new watcher, love your videos, wanted to joke about the toilet paper.
That looks like fun- but an expensive campfire 🔥
That's what I was thinking too. That size bottle of 91% alcohol at a drug store can be $4+
I remember reading about mini stoves in a can in an outdoor magazine many years ago. I always wanted to try it. I use the tiny alcohol stove for small fires to boil water. A handy tool in a bike bag. Now I think I must do this one! Thanks. 😃
Going to try this
Yes. It's an old trick but it's so much fun watching you discover them. The joy of a child is all over your face. 😍
Don't know if I'd roast marshmallows though because it does produce a black suit. At least my alcohol stove does without the toilet paper. There is a fuel you can purchase that does burn cleaner but it's not as cheap and easy to find as rubbing alcohol.
My dad used this trick back in the 70's when I was a kid..we lived in Wyoming and in the southwestern part of the state, firewood was mostly non existent..it worked well..not as good as a wood campfire, but it did the trick😊
Wow. That is a phenomenal idea. I would probably do the small one.
Fantastic! We will definitely give this a shot.
The flame was brilliant. Good idea.
I’ve been camping for 50+ years and this is the first time I’ve seen this. Love it! Heading to the home store tomorrow to get everything and going to have a fire in the backyard tomorrow. My husband is even excited……thank you so much for sharing! Love your channel!
Hey Bette! Haha, that’s great! I hope it works well for you guys. Have fun!
Kelly, we made our bucket campfire this evening……..loved it! We travel in our RV throughout the west every fall for 2-3 months and rarely build a campfire, even though we enjoy them. We hate how smokey our clothes and hair get. Now, we’ll take our “hi-tech” bucket campfire with us and enjoy a campfire whenever we want without the hassle or smoke smell. Thank you so much!
Oh how cool. I'm glad it worked for you guys! Just make sure to seal the top completely when storing it in the RV. I hope it enhances your trips!
Just discovered your channel today! I was very excited to watch your video about making your kitchen sink in between your seats! Fantastic video! Thank you for making great contact for all of us! I did subscribe to your channel❤ great fire pit option.#NoFuss,NoSmokeEasyFire🔥
What a fantastic idea .thank you for sharing 😊
You always give great ideas for camping 🎉. We always do car camping, and ever since I watched your videos, I became your avid fan ☺️ Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait for the next one!
Oh cool, thanks for the feedback! I’m so happy I’m helping you enjoy camping!
@Minivan Camper Gal I'm pretty sure that will work with any vegetable oil as well
At 5:02 ..... "Ah, how cool is that"
cool? Seriously? It's HOT! It's a hot idea! yeesh.
LOL, Thanks for the HOT video.
Hi 👋🏻 Great idea, it reminded me of a Giant Sterno can👍 “let me give you a suggestion” mix the alcohol with either Eucalyptus or lavender extract to keep mosquitoes away, you are very creative and good whit tools “attach some legs for stability and something at the top to hold a small cooking pot. Take care… Angel 😇
I have a little paint can alcohol stove I made a while back. I find it okay but less practical for me than the coffee can twig stove I made.
Recommend getting a small rubber mallet from the dollar store. I keep it with my VEDC (vehicle every day carry). You’d be surprised how handy it is. Perfect to pound the lid on the paint can without damaging it.
Thanks for sharing the making of it. How much did it cost for all materials? New can, tp, 91% alcohol. Please let us know if it works well for you. 🌿
Rubber mallet is also a great safety tool to have around. BOP someone in the right place with one and you have time to get away. 😉
Cool - would love to see a cooking demo
I did not know about this! It’s brilliant! I’m going to make one for myself!
@@minivancampergal1554I made this DIY campfire and finally used it this weekend. It was perfect as I thought it would be! One thing I would add, I used long nosed pliers to place the lid on it when I was finished. The wind was starting to kick up and the flame was tall. I just made a video and gave you a shout out! Thanks again!
That’s super cool! Didn’t know about it. Thanks for sharing such an awesome idea!!
Thank you
Thanks for that..will try
Crazy cool!
Amazing !😎ᓚᘏᗢ
I keep a small can with the one roll of toilet paper inside of it and put that down into a gallon can. I keep the alcohol separate. That goes into my trunk in Nov. or Dec, as part of my winter car emergency kit.
👍I’ll try a little one for marshmallows 😊
I use coffee cans for this ❤
Boy scouts do something simar using a double size tuna can and corrugated cardboard
Be careful not to get yourself in fire if you have some alcohol on your hand...
