Hey Don!!! My dad actually lives in Lieutenant Colonel James H Harvey's house right now. The town where he grew up in honored him a few years ago. I work at a hotel in PA where he has stayed. I have pictures with him and my dad has pictures with him at his house. It was such an honor to get to meet him and sit with him and talk to him. I will always remember getting to speak to him and being such a beautiful soul. HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY TO HIM!!!
Don, I was on the Queen Mary 2 last June and James Harvey was on there along with the other living members of World War 2. It was such a pleasure to meet him. My daughter and I were blessed to see these gentlemen and hear their stories.
My grandfather was a TUSKEGEE AIRMAN! back in WWII!! when he was alive we all went to FRANCE and he received the purple Medal of Honor!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 He had lived a long time! Prayers on this TUSKEGEE AIRMAN living to 100!! That is amazing!
Thanku Don for doing the story about the Tuskegee Airman that was honored on the cruise. They're removing our history more and more all the time so thanks.❤
History is only history if people are interested in it. It is up to historical stories/people to be interesting enough or have something to do with “today’s times” to keep it spoken about. Some history is meant to be forgotten. If no one alive thinks of it then it isn’t important to them their lives or their history. Why live in the past we only get 80 years of life if we are lucky and I don’t waste one second thinking of history that never entered my life. 🤷🏼♀️
@@allytrudie864 you sound crazy... how tf can you think of something that you know nothing about... but that same history that you don't think is important, shaped the entire military aviation landscape. Just like majority of the inventions that you use today, came from some of the ppl you don't find important. So give it back dammit 😤
We all need to remember the Tuskegee Airmen. Kudos to Princess Cruise Line for honoring that hero. Is there a way to tell if you're booking thru a third party and not the cruise itself? Would traveler's insurance help in a situation like that?
Thank you for all you do and the History on the real Top Gun veteran who was honored. I will remember this tip on booking cruises directly with the company and not 3rd party. I’ve have yet to cruise and I’m doing lots of research and watching vlogs to get ready for mine in the future.
Don, I'm so glad you got down to Ontario to visit with you Dad. I hope he's enjoying it and that he feels uplifted. It sounds like you & relatives are pretty busy (even though there isn't much to do in the area where he lives).
Well, I booked a cruise directly from Royal, and were denied boarding. When I was booking it, I told them my baby doesn't have a passport yet, she assured me that the birth certificate is enough and I booked that cruise 3 days prior to boarding. But they told us at the port, we cannot go without baby's passport. She basically lied to me, just to sell us that cruise and Royal refused to refund us. I don't know what to do
I like your videos of cruising. Let tell your viewers about my last cruise. My partner and I departed Perth, Western Australia in mid March this year bound for Brisbane , Queensland . Four days into the cruise both my partner and I had Covid and were isolated in our cabin for 6 days. We had great room service for our meals and drinks in our cabin. Sat on the balcony with a glass of wine and enjoyed the scenery along the coast. The service was excellent, for food was good and we enjoyed the time together. This cruise was on the Coral Princess. When out of our cabin we enjoyed the entertainment, music and Bars/lounges, dancing and overall, a very good experience. I have watched every movie/documentary about the Tuskegee airmen and their exploits. cheers to all.
Hey Don. Nice of Princess to honor Tuskegee airman and acknowledge him on his 100th birthday. My brain 🧠 💡 is not understanding why they were denied boarding. They payed regular price and denied. So those rooms are now available and the ship is leaving 500 ppl short? 🤷🏻♀️.
I've been on several charter rock 'n' roll cruises called On The Blue. The same charter company also runs cruises called Monsters of Rock and Cruise to the Edge, which has a progressive rock emphasis. I'm here to attest with 6 cruises under my belt and next year's sailing already booked, they have been great to deal with.
Here’s a suggestion for a future post-best ways to resolve problems with the various cruise lines! You could include phone # and emails, twitter handles, etc. as well as how to best address issues while on-board as well as pre-cruise and post-cruise. And give examples from your own vast experience. #cruiseproblemshowtosolvethem
We wandered onto a cruise that was an Elvis convention. I had a lot of explaining to do to our then 10 year old. They planned it independently but worked directly with NCL to make the arrangements.
There are many high end tour operators, who do business in this way. River cruises in China, Egypt, Europe, as well as ocean voyages in Amazon, North/South Poles, etc.
I've done a chartered Metal cruise (Shiprocked) for the last 9 years, and we never had any major issues with the cruise line. First 3 years were on NCL and the last 6 (and next years too) were on Carnival. The Captain has done an amazing job putting everything together.
Denying ppl to get on a cruise they paid for and not refunding the money is criminal. These ppl need to make a huge fuss if they are not refunded their full amount.
I remember being dumped at the Spanish border with France along with a train full of people at dusk and waiting on a freezing train platform overnight without shelter. Hearing this is no shock.
We have sailed on the Keeping The Blues Alive cruise (Norwegian) seven out of the last nine cruises. Sixthman (the booking entity) did an amazing job. I feel bad for these folks that got ripped off.
WOW ... How awful that these 500 individuals were denied a cruise they paid for. Yeah ... I try to stick with the major cruise lines that are legit. Interestingly enough, my first cruise was actually a themed cruise booked through a third party on a Carnival ship. I'm grateful I got what I paid for as I had to fly to the cruise port. I hope the 500 passengers can find some recourse to recoup their loses.
I never took a cruise so thanks so much for your info you saved me from making the same mistake and loosing my retirement money a huge hug and a huge THANK YOU 😢😮❤
I use a third party that provides specialty cruises. I think they do it right. They do not rent the entire ship; they book a number of staterooms of various types. They work with only one of the major cruise lines. They have been in business for almost 2 decades and I have been on 6 cruises with them since 2009.
Great way to honor the veteran. On a very bitter note.... In June 2022, 4 of us wanted to board the Costa Fascinosa, that we had prepaid a Cruisemasters Travel Agent for months in advance. When we boarded, they said that they had not received the money from Costa USA, with whom our Travel Agent had booked and apparently paid. They then asked us to pay for the cruise again, and they would organize our refund from the Costa USA Travel Agent. This is now 12 months later and we are still awaiting our refund from the Travel Agent, that says that she is awaiting the refund from Costa USA. Appalling!!!
The major diff is that US based bookers have to hold payments in escrow any final. And the FTC pays very close attention to it. I'm sure Canada has similar protections.
Thank you for covering the beautiful recognition of Lt. Harvey, not sure if that was his rank, but it should have been at least that, and thanks to Princess Cruise Lune for making it possible.
I was lucky enough to be on a plane and also a Tuskegee Airman was also flying. An announcement was made and everyone gave him a round of applause but the airline moved him to First Class. Well deserved respect
I’d do very intense review research before signing up with such a cruise. Some of these music cruises with great lineups sound awesome and perhaps we’ll try one day.
The thing about booking a cruise through a third party is you have to know the company. For example: Adventures by Disney sell river cruises on ships they don't own. I would be very confident on booking my family on a cruise through Disney. As for the company in your story, and I don't know this is the case, many times these companies form for one event and after the event is over, the company is no longer in existence. That makes it much harder to get your money back.
That’s pretty outrageous Don. I wish you had said what country this was. I don’t see how it’s legal anywhere to keep someone’s money when they couldn’t go through no fault of their own.
It’s as if he was deliberately avoiding naming the location and giving out facts. Thailand currency unit is the Thai Baht which indicates most likely it occurred in Thailand.
I admit I am tempted to go with some type of genre / singer / speaker on board, but . . . timing has never worked out for me on that. I have learned to cruise to places I want to go to but would not go without a cruise. Hope your family visit is fruitful for all.
I've been on a cruise that was based on Pittsburgh sports teams and had a great time, but I would look into info on cruises having to be booked with a booking company for sure. 🙂
Myself and my wife have just reached home about 2 hours ago from our Alaska and Canada cruise on the solstice it was fantastic so I have a lot of catching up to do with your videos don cheers
If this happened in Thailand, the courts will side with the customers if they can prove that they loss face. You have to be careful with causing someone to lose honor or face in Thailand.

Apparently these amazing men only lost 27 bombers they were escorting while undertaking 179 missions . What an incredible group of men.
Absolutely Awesome
Never lost a bomber to enemy aircraft. I was blessed to get to go to flight training back in 1986 in Tuskegee with some of the original airmen.
They didn't even use airplanes. They just flapped their arms and bit the wings off enemy planes. . .

It’s shocking to think they not only missed their cruise, but also may not get refunds. How awful!
Surely the cruise line should take some responsibility. Even if it was a charter.
