Shubhendra & Saskia Rao at Kennedy Center for web.mov

This is a composition of Pandit Shubhendra Rao on Sitar and Saskia Rao-de Haas on her Indian Cello based on the popular South Indian Raga, Charukesi. This was performed at the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington DC where some of the world's leading artists have performed. Pandit Shubhendra Rao and Saskia Rao-de Haas performed there as a part of the "maximum India" festival in March 2011.

I'm a psychedelic and progressive rock fan. I was searching and learning about the psychedelic rock's pinnacle period the 70's and came across Ravi Shankar and Ananda Shankar and their work in which they, in their respective ways, merged western and eastern cultures in their music This was a long time ago and thus started my admiration to the instrument Sitar.
I've found that Classical Indian Music is the music type that's able to speak to my soul in a most beautiful way. I've started to discover myself thanks to this peaceful instrument.
And this particular song has lifted my spirit up to heavens in no other thing ever could. Music truly is the essence of the soul.
