On December 27th 2019 we happened to dine here at kesar da dhaba ..
Believe me the food served was exceptionally delicious...
And the old man ,probably a waiter , was a gentleman with high values ..generally my husband never ever gives even a penny as tip ..
But that day ,to our surprise , my husband asked the old man to keep the change ..
We were impressed by his polite nature ,the way he was convincing my child to eat something..
It was as if a grandfather worries when kids don't eat anything...
Ask ur husband to change that ATTITUDE, u should alway give 10% minimum tip , to these senior citizen Waiter is wrking at this age because he needs the money 4 Survival, just imagine if ur father was wrking there for God knows how many Decades yet at this old age he is working , don't assume that everyone is very polite and Respectful towards them, but he is still so polite and friendly towards ur child.
God will give back to you many multiple times.

Huge fan of this place and Love their food. Even the 4th generation boy Ramesh is very industrious and intelligent.
In my opinion the Dress of the serving staff shall be charged from blood 🩸 red and they be trained little bit on hygienic practices. I hope it is taken only as a constructive criticism nothing beyond it.
The food they serve is Awesome, thanks to late lala Kesar Mal ji & their progeny. Shiekhupura is not a village, Ramesh……it’s a sort of small city close to Lahore.
Ramesh, Lala Lajpat Rai ji, also known as Punjab Kesri died in 1928 & Indra Nehru Ghandy was born in November 1917.

We had dinner there, dal makhani, shahi paneer etc. Nothing extra ordinary, shahi paneer has red oily gravy insted of kaju and white gravy.

Okay, real-life experience. I was in Amritsar in November 2021 and after visiting Golden Temple, we went for Kesar Ka Dhaba simply because we were hungry and UA-cam has thousands of videos. The location is really congested. Forget the car in there. Food was filled with Desi Ghee. Just Desi Ghee all around. The taste was average. Yes, you read that right, AVERAGE. It is just Desi ghee. If you are in Amritsar, go for it. Just don't plan especially for this place.
Exactly, i am from Amritsar ans this place is over hyped and tasteless. Nothing is good. Amritsars food is 100 times better than this

I ate in kesar dhaba 2 days back and quite honestly, it is not worth the hype. Taste is average, you can get better taste in many other dhabas in Amritsar. The worst thing is, they charged me 15₹ for the 12₹ small coca cola, like looting in daylight but no one seems to be bothered about it. I guess nostalgia is heavier than the reality.
