To be fair to Gujjus, getting pure vegetarian food in other countries can be a serious challenge. I never realized this and used to judge Indians looking for Indian restaurants in beautiful European countries thinking why don't they try the local cuisine? Then I realized finding vegetarian options and that too tasty ones is a real struggle!
The reason tht it's a common practice in Gujratis for carrying those dry snacks with shelf life is that since ancient times people from the region of Gujrat have been traders traveling to different states and countries and continents away from home for long period of time hence the practice of having a large verity of durable food items that they can carry with them for days .
Whenever I go to foreign countries,I show people's reaction that Gujaratis talk to people and others are quite. In July One foreigner driver in Malta Said Gujaratis talk with respect unlike others

@7:14 As a proud Gujarati, let me explain. As Gujarati people have been pure vegetarian for the longest time, we did not trust outside food and also the distinct taste of home cooked meals was the reason behind this. Even in Gujarat, every region has its own taste and we people are so obsessed with it, we just cannot live without the taste. I know it’s a bit too much but that’s the reality. I remember going to a friend’s house and they offered me some snacks. They come from different region of Gujarat and I didn’t like the taste of it. 😂😂😂

I was on a 🚢 that ran between Athens and Santorini. We were in the section for first class passengers. It was quiet and people sipped at their 🍸 while looking at the beautiful sunset through the bay windows. And then a newly married Gujju couple ambled in talking loudly. Just a point in favor of distribution of condoms in college is in India marriage is allowed after you get 18 but judged on sex when you are in college.
