      All good, the pattern went together very well! adding thickness to any line drawing changes the dimensions a little. Your pattern looks really nice when put together.

    I love how Odin explains every step in each video as if it was the first time (i.e. how contact cement works)
    It is very helpful for new people who haven't seen other videos and helps reinforce techniques for returning viewers

      Thank you! That is my thought when making the videos. Every video could be somebody's first video, and there is no official viewing order.

      @art_man-jh9vk 3 роки тому +2

      Thanks!

    • @OdinMakes
      @OdinMakes  3 роки тому +2

      Yes they are! The pattern I included is the original pattern still. I did modify the pieces a little, but basically if you print them 5% larger or so, you will probably get it. Also, the angle for the cheek bend was 90° on the flat lower panel, and the bevel on the arc was about 2mm in at the start, and about 5mm in on the bottom. Mark out that line on top of your cheek piece, measured from the cut edge, and sand that changing bevel.
      The flat back panel was on a 45° from the other cheek panel. I cut the bevel on my bandsaw, and then sanded the curved panel to match.
      It took me 3 attempts of cutting out the pieces, and modifications made as I went along. so something like 3.5 to 4.5 attempts...
      After sanding the cheeks 'flat' in the face plate panel- the sides had a angle that would let the cheeks fit. I still needed to trim the top edge of the curved cheek for the best fit.
      That was really the longest part of the build, getting the cheeks right.

    You make helmets in the most satisfying ways.
    I try not to request a bunch of props often. But because I like watching you make helmets, I would like to see your take on a Space Marine's helmet from Warhammer 40k. On the upside, there are several styles of helmets to pick from and you could paint it however you want.

      I was reading that too. I found the artist that makes the paint, and I found a quart for $400, so that maths about right. It also has lots of extra toxic chemicals in it (like all awesome paints do!) so spraying it needs way more safety than I have in my shop.

    Very nice Mando Helmets.
    It's unfortunate that foam is not an approved material for use for the MCCC (Mandalorian Mercs Costuming Club)

      Really? I thought it was a few years ago. I know the 501st does not approve foam as it need too much work to upkeep and look uniform. But last I talked to any mercs the Mando's still were allowed foam materials.

    You did a great job, Odin. I do have a legit question, I notice post-paint that you can still sort of see the seam lines on the dome. Is there a method to cover those up to where they are gone entirely?

      More putty, more time. Maybe a stronger putty, more than just spackle.
