Just want to take a moment to appreciate the element of having real players come through as regens as you get further into the save. For me that's what elevates certain retro databases vs others
Hi I'm just wondering how exactly I can get this database downloaded..ive never downloaded a retro database but after seeing this video I just have to have it to relive my childhood 😂
@@johndow1301 It's only available on my Patreon page at the minute which is the same username as on here and there is a fee for early access members. Full release will be via FM fansites in early February
Marco Reus was in the Dortmund Academy. Left for a third division side. Helped them get promoted. Signed for Mönchengladbach. Before returning to Dortmund.
Luke , as a portuguese and a fan of Benfica , its actually nice too know that Rui Costa , one of the biggest ícones of my club and today’s president , is one of your all times favorite. He is/was criminally underrated , he was phenomenal . And the fact that you also mentioned Óscar Cardozo , our biggest foreign goalscorer. He was a bit underrated too because he was a slow striker , but hey , the guy is 1.95m , its normal that he was that slow , but the thing is , he could score goals from anywhere with his left foot with some incredibly power shots , the guy was a beast
"Such a shame that he decided to party hard and get a couple of injuries." I think you did R9 short there Mr. Omega Luke ;) This is what his physiotherapist stated, it was: 'the worst football injury' he's ever seen. "If I showed you the photos I have from this case you wouldn't believe it!" "Right after the surgery his knee was the size of a football ball. There were three or four tubes draining the blood, it was something unbelievable. We had a few moments at the hospital when he was crying because he wanted morphine to stop the intensity of pain. And he did this twice. And he also has the disease: Hypothyroidism: "It is where your thyroid gland does not produce enough hormones. Common signs of an underactive thyroid are tiredness, weight gain and feeling depressed." Still the best player who ever played the game, no one has ever reached his top form. Not even Messi on cocaine
When I heard the party statement I was shocked cause R9 did not party . After his injury in 2000, he came back to the World Cup and won the golden boot and he’s fifa’s greatest striker EVER
R9 the best player of his generation. "Still the best player who ever played the game, no one has ever reached his top form", that's just stupid and you know it.
Cant wait to see u and your dad do something with this database looks AWESOME !!! So many memories from my teens great video Luke and "BIG UP to Mr Tiny" 🙌🙌🙌
29:12 reus came through dortmund's academy before moving to bmg for gametime then returned again to dortmund so is probably most accurate to have him starting with dortmund
thats not really true. He was kicked out the dortmund´s academy in 2005 when was about 16 years old He went to a small club in the region called Rot-Weiß Ahlen. That was the first time I was introduced to him in 2008 in the 2.Bundesliga. He played there from 2005 till 2009. After a great spell he went for around 800.000,- € to Bmg. Dortmund refused to sign him, because of that "big" price tag. Three years later, in 2012, Dortmund finally got him back for 17 Mio. and the rest is history.
would be nice if sports interactive released a retro version of the game themselves, where you start in 1992, like an anniversary edition or something, it's not like they don't have the player/staff data!
YESSS IM SO READY TO PLAY THIS DATABASE, don’t get me wrong the other databases are nice with the 98/99 being my fav, but i always hated having to play for like 6 seasons just to have a retro Messi and Ronaldo in my team, plus having some of my all time favs still being somewhat young is just amazing (Beckham, kaka, Nakata, and Ji Sung)
bro i i think you can make a starting save on fm retro 1998/00 and have the regen staff and just make a save before yuo pick a team and then go to fm 24 and load the save and play it from there so basically you get all from fm 23 if you do this in fm 24
Jan Ceulemans seeing as Manchester United boss is hilarious as a Belgian (de Caje was a great player, average coach,5th with Eendracht Aalst was his best 😂😂😂
Yeah you are right Marco Reus did spend a time at Gladbach between 09-12 and then been at dortmund since! Also great video always funny seeing diffrent stuff happening compared to real life 🤣
Seeing Sterling at my club made me smile, Gona have to get this downloaded when it’s available! I wonder if there’s a way it can automatically update the player faces as the years go on, like seeing the new gens and the original players get older pictures as they go on.
Thanks for showing this. My fav database to play in FM but this one needs a lot of work. Same like FM 23 version it has vastly inflated stats, especially physical, as that makes top players not diverse enough while that era was actually very diverse.
36:08 you let out a little moan and I love it mate! That’s what I’m talking about with the voice lad! Could be a great country singer perhaps. Always love that mate.
The only big name I can think of that I don't recall seeing at all throughout the entire video was Zlatan Ibrahimovic... but agreed, you could easily spend hours checking out details of players and see what their alternative career could have been like.
So Bruno actually came thru the Boavista youth academy, but moved to Italy as a youth player to Novara before going to Udinese. However as he's considered home grown at Udinese guessing it was just easier to program him as coming thru the Udinese ranks.
Some of the potential abilities seem a bit generous. Like 191 for Robinho, 190 for van Nistelrooy. 187 for Gilardino, 185 for Kewell. 185 for Daniel Andersson and 175 for Diego Placente seem especially generous and weird 😅 Oscar Cardozo is still going in real life as well, still banging them in too, just scored 24 goals in the season that just ended in like December aged 40. What a guy.
3 observations: For those who missed it: Messi having the nr 7 at Real makes this even funnier 😂 Luke you are right, Reus came through Mönchengladbach. And this sim proves that in no universe can United be saved when Sir Alex leaves.
I propose an idea for a video, to make the most of the possibility of exceptional players coming out of the Youth Teams in all leagues and see what happens by simulating, if it can be done
Been loving the videos lately luke been watching you guys for years now, I would love for you to try out my tactic I surprised myself with how good it has been managed to do the invincibles multiple times with teams who aren’t expected to do so well
Only thing that annoys me is rory delap is down as english when he played for ireland and his first cap was like 98 99 around the time he made the move to derby anyways, would of been nice to have a virtual irish player win multiple serie As with milan
problem i have with these data bases is that the players are unrealistically op. the nostalgia glasses make even average joes have unbelievable attributes
You’ve got a great voice mate, ever considered releasing some music mate? Would recon you could make a little football manager song mate! It would be crackin mate.
Would of been sooooo much better if you just glimpsed through the other english leagues🙌 Another great episode though. Any Idea where Macc town ended up ?
I love the idea of the database! Kinda wish it was more realistic and not all the 16 year olds coming through started at such a high CA. Some of them sure but too many 140 plus' I think.
My FM, until last week, was running the game smoothly and this week it's crashing and lagging when the game is playing, even on the minimum graphics. Does anyone know what it could be?
Nikolaidis 2nd in the top scorer list the first year in PL. Stern John coming 2nd in the top scorer list in CL for Dortmund(!) the second season. While this vid is now over a month old. I zoned out after 15-16 minutes. It's too fast paced. Needing to pause a lot to even see things.

The Baines-Pienaar partnership was the reason that I (a South African) started supporting Everton
