How to Make Minecraft Videos! - Ask a Minecrafter (Ep.7)

  • Опубліковано 3 тра 2024
  • Today in Ask a Minecrafter we're answering one of the most frequently asked questions of all: how do you make a Minecraft video?
Note to MCPE and Console Edition players: this episode focuses mostly on capturing from PC Minecraft. Capturing video from your console or mobile device typically requires extra hardware (video capture cards and the like), or using your console's native "share" features. I don't have experience recording outside of PC, so I didn't include those in the video.
If you have expertise recording MCPE or MCCE, feel free to leave your advice in the comments!

Ok so I found a way around this. I’ve adopted a different sleep schedule. It’s called polyphasic sleep cycle. It’s where you take a bunch of short naps through out the day rather then one long slumber. I like doing a 20 minute nap every 4 hours. 12am 4am 8am 12pm 4pm and 8pm. This allows me to be up at night without waking up at 2pm😊.

tip from creator: dont look at your hate comments or analytics when you start off, if you spent 5 hours on a video which only got 2 views you will get really upset so just dont look at those things which make you sad! always look on the bright side of your channel.

I don't make videos that often but when I do, you need to put effort into them. I mainly animate, but I was planning to make minecraft vids, hence why I'm here. When I animate, I have to stick with a main focus, and I have to put enough quality so people don't think I'm lazy.

A tip I learned from Mr. Beast is to record 3 to 5 videos at once (before uploading any) so that you can release all at once and have 'recommended' content ready for them to watch after the first vid. Will increase your watch time and click through rates almost instantly right from the start. Good for getting recommended to others to watch you.

My advice only applies to people who are willing to spend money on editing software and who use an nvidia graphics driver. I use the GeForce experience which is free to record my videos and audio but you can choose another recording software which you prefer. Next I use adobe premiere pro and photoshop to make my thumbnail and video. But sometimes I can get a friend to make a thumbnail if I’m busy (which means you don’t need to pay someone to make it) and I’m lucky enough to have a friend who specialises in graphic design and coding so I could get him to make a 3D intro or just a normal thumbnail for absolutely free. So you will need:
Money for editing and thumbnail making sofware
You can have a friend make your thumbnail or help out
Any free recording sofware which doesn’t pack a punch on your computer which gives you smooth 60+ FPS videos

No time to go into vast detail about how I make videos, and I'm sure I'll forget to leave a comment later, so I'll stick to the basics. I use Fraps to record the game, and Vegas Pro for editing. I have a 1TB external hard drive specifically for recording and other YT stuff........ Okay, and Steam games. 1TB is a bit much for what I do. xD Fraps doesn't work with all games, though (Not surprising, as it HASN'T BEEN UPDATED AT ALL SINCE 2013), so for anything else, I use OBS! Where Game/Window capture fails, Monitor Capture to the rescue! That's how I've had to record my videos on Windows 10 Edition.
When making LP videos, I generally have a plan in mind, then I record different clips. I like to mix progress updates with on-camera moments so it doesn't get stale, and of course timelapses occasionally. I've seen YTers who just make massive, entire-video timelapses, and I've seen YTers who just record one clip and then upload it with barely any progress (BORING). It's a tough middle ground to get, though.

I do videos on a different channel, but I use obs for game play and you can put audio and game play on different audio tracks. If im doing a voice over with a script I use audacity. I use davinci resolve to edit, which can be seen as a bit of overkill because they edit marvel movies using it but it is free and to me it was easy to learn. I have a $1300 msi laptop that can play and record bedrock edition easily at 1080p 59.9 fps since you can't see that .1 difference and it helps save power that the game might need. I have a samson g-track pro mic which I got for about $160 and it sounds wonderful as well as its a usb mic and game with an arm and pop filter. In obs I use a noise gate, suppression, expander, and a couple other things to fix the audio and what not. Im military and live on base so theres constant jets going off but I try to edit those out when I can and the filters for the mic make them not sound quite as loud as they actually are since I live RIGHT next to the flightline and can't change that. Im a small youtuber though but am hoping to grow. I also use gimp to make my thumbnails, so everything I use to record and what not is free. Audacity is used for the voiceovers btw. Hope this might help someone if they come across this video again

So, I use OBS to record Minecraft. I record my mic with it too. I ALSO added a webcam, so I have a tiny box at the bottom showing my reactions. KDEN Live to edit. It really is just the best, UNLESS you have MASSIVE video sizes. Then you have to work with proxy clips.
I came to this video because I wanted to know how other Minecrafters do all their setups: camera shots and engagement with the audience in-game. Whether it's Grian or Bdubbs or Scar, everyone seems to have mastered some method for a static camera recording them building something, then close up face-to-face talking. I thought I was looking for a tutorial on filming Minecraft. Maybe I have the wrong phrase?
Anyhow have you done a video on that, or do you know of whatever series everyone else is learning from?

I use Action for recording, which is not free, but fairly cheap, and makes really good quality videos, while using nearly 0 processor time.
For editing, I use Sony Vegas, which is very expensive, and I bought it. Of course. (Pssst. _Not really..._ ) I would change to Adobe Premiere, but I'm used to Vegas, hard to change.
Only 1 tip for you: Use the same software from the beginning, because if you learn a software to the max, and it is not enough, it's really hard to change. For me at least.

I'm Hungarian (and making hungarian videos), sorry for my (potencially very) bad English... Only know English from UA-cam! (Thanks for that: Hermits, CGP Grey, SciSchow, Kurzgesagt, and so on...)

I think a great starter editing software is DaVinci Resolve because I had never edited something in my life and it was my first software and it was easy and simple to work I just needed a simple tutorial
