Eivør’s love affair with this country began back in the late nineties, when Reykjavík vocal coach Ólöf Kolbrún would travel to the Faroe Islands to teach singing. The teenaged Eivør was taking lessons with her by day, but by night was straining her larynx fronting Nordic-noir rock band Clickhaze. Alarmed by how her student’s pure soprano was tumbling towards Janis Joplin territory-and not in a good way- Ólöf Kolbrún invited Eivør to stay with her in Reykjavík for a spell of vocal rest and rehabilitation. Eivør packed her bag, and flew the next day. “It turned out to be life-changing for me, and it really just put me on a different route,” Eivør says of Ólöf Kolbrún’s kind act. “We became very good friends, and she was my vocal teacher for many years. And I made so many friends here in Iceland, including musicians, that I ended up staying here for five years.”
You aint seen nothing yet! Eivor i one of the best vocalist/singer out there. She is just amazing. What she can do with her voice is out ofthis world. Plus she is an amazing human being too. Pliiz do more Eivor. There is so many song for you to check out. Be safe
Eivor is my favorite vocalist ever. Her song Boxes is my favorite song since Kate Bush. Eivor is classically trained and I consider her the greatest artist in the world. By the way, it is not falsetto, it is full voice. Falsetto is not usually something that applies to female singers, but rather male singers trying to hit false high notes where their vocal power is usually diminished. Eivor is a vocal powerhouse. Eivor plays a lot of Heavy Metal Festivals and her vocals are the power instrument and can go anywhere. She co-wrote and does the vocals on the TV serries The Last Kingdom and also features on the Play Station Game soundtrack, God of War. As for the reverb, she is bare foot and may be controlling the reverb with her foot pedals.
well, this one here is just the tip of the ice berg. she is doing music professionally since more than 25 years now and her versatility is unrivaled. there are so many songs to reccomend, two of them are gloomy sunday and wake me up. her sister elinborg is in the background choir, the girl on the left. i think she was sixteen back then. try her song sjórok (elinborg feat. sway for an accoustic version for example)
Almost everyone who has heard her will suggest you listen to her famous live videos "Trollabundin" or "Falling free". But also try listening to the video "#ISLANDROADS presents EIVØR". It is less famous and almost does not get into the reactions to the music, but it is just as beautiful. Just a singer with a guitar, singing with a heavenly voice among the Faroese hills under a blue sky. And she actually once studied opera singing in Reykjavik.
You ain't heard nothing yet when it comes to Eivør! 😄 She does english songs like you just heard but also she can bring you viking vibes with folky songs! She just released her latest album "ENN" which is worth listening. All songs are in faroese. If you want to react to more english songs I recommend to react to "Falling free" live. If you wanna check out her viking side you should go with "The Last Kingdom" live (she did the soundtrack to this netflix series btw)
Now do her live performance ‘Eivør - Falling Free (Live at the Old Theatre in Torshavn’. One of the best ever liver performances, this time with an electric guitar in her hands.
The heaviness you’re perceiving isn’t religious- this is from her album Room, which was changed and shaped when her father died suddenly while she was writing it.
Best singer I've ever heard, great songwriter, and just a Goddess.
A true force of nature, too
