Pennsauken Transit Center is the transfer station between NJ Transit's Atlantic City Line and NJ Transit's River LINE light rail. This video features both the Bombardier light rail trains and Atlantic City Line Comet push-pull trains.
Due to a recent rash of road failures among the GP40PH-2B locomotives normally assigned to the Atlantic City Line, NJ Transit sent two ALP45-DP locomotives down to replace the disabled Geeps, and both of the dual-mode units are seen operating in this video. As information, the locomotives operate on diesel power for the full run and do not operate in electric mode on Amtrak, as they need to be stopped to change between diesel and electric modes.

A little history lesson for those who don't know. Pennsauken was once part of the Pennsylvania Railroad's Atlantic Division. The Atlantic Division of the PRR connected the joint Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines with the PRR's Philadelphia Terminal Division across the Delaware River and the New York Division at Delair. The Atlantic Division also hosted electric locomotives on the route from Delair to Camden to access the PRR's Pavonia Yard via the Delair Bridge.
Great video as always, Uncle Joe. You always film the best stuff around the Northeast.

Back in 1943 there was a wreck of the Nellie Bly passenger train that ran from New York city to Atlantic city right in that vicinity. I grew up in Pennsauken n used to walk NJ Transit tracks when they were PRSL. It used to be double track all the way to Atlantic city.

I've heard bits and pieces on that. But, not if there were any fatalities.

@Jessica Kasumi I think there was 20 or more deaths. The Nellie Bly was the premier passenger train for the Jersey Central Railroad. It traveled as I said before from New York city to Atlantic city. There used to be a sharp curve coming off the Trenton to Camden line n they were traveling to fast n went off the tracks.

@@roberthagberg5482 I thought the Nellie Bly was a PRR train. To compete with the CNJ's Blue Comet.

@@JessicaKasumi1990 Forgive me Jessica, my mind was scrambled. I forgot that the Blue Comet traveled down their own lines from Lakehurst to Williamstown Jct., n then down to Atlantic city. I had books from the PRSL, Atlantic City Railroad, n the West Jersey Railroad, but my house burned down in 2014 n I lost all my books. I left NJ in 1993 n moved to N. E. Alabama. I follow a lot of U=Tubers online. Since ur probably from southern NJ maybe u could get Vitual Railfan to put a camera somewhere near the Pennsauken Transportation Center. Thanks again for verifing my mistake.

Nice footage! I still find it odd to see ALP 45s on the Atlantic City Vranch, even though there's no switch to overhead wires (unless if Pennsauken were to be electrified to prevent prevent fumes under 30th street).

They seem like railcars, not diesel trams.

That is because most light-rail vehicles - regardless of their power source - are not tram-type. (That is true of the light-rail cars seen in "Captain Marvel" and used in Baltimore's Regional Light Rail Service - which I used myself in 2000.)
