So sorry I didnt catch the roll over on video guys! I have end-oed the can am the same way on solid ground without issue but unfourtunetly the front end dug in to the sand and caused the roll over. After researching "how to jump utvs" I've realised that I made a number of mistakes. The take off wasnt the right size or shape. I let off at the top of the jump causing the energy to shift downward on take off and I hit it too fast. I could have corrected if I goosed it mid air but I think I actually hit the brakes which makes matters worse. Shock tuning plays a roll as well. The moral of the story is that these things make you overconfident and you should always be prepared to flip or crash at any time. We will come back with an aftermarket cage, 5 point harnesses, headsets for communicating, fire extinguisher and medical supplies next time.

Giving it throttle mid air will not bring the front end up, works on bikes, not side by sides.
Sorry about the X3 man, but you were both safe, all that matters.
When you're ready hit up the sxsblog guys, they can get you set up with all the proper safety gear you need.

That lower frame in the rear looks messed up! Good thing you weren't hurt. If you have to take it to stealership for some of the repairs, try removing as much of the plastic and broken parts as you can. It will make your ungodly labor fee a little easier on the wallet. Hope it works out!

Maxx, I was you once. Young, wild and would try anything. Note my name INSAYN, yes that is INSANE spelled my way. I've had this name since 1992 when I got my first Toyota 4x4, a 1985 XtraCab, and a 1986 Honda TRX250R four wheeler. Now, I am getting close to 50 years old and know my limits, and respect them. Age + experience is earned at the cost of pain and money. But, in the end, you will have some great stories to tell around the old folks home when you are 90+.
I started going to the Oregon Dunes Recreation area when I was 16ish. Back then, I ran the dunes and stayed in top shape for cross country and track. Then in 1992 I got that Honda TRX250R and nearly killed myself twice in one trip. Not learning the dunes first was my biggest mistake. Jumping willy nilly off extremely high dunes and mashing the suspension completely to the ground and framing the ATV 3 times, while blowing 2 tires off the rims should have set me straight. Nope, next day I hit Goose Pasture from the south and nearly buried my front end at the bottom of one of the many drop off there. Luckily I gassed and pulled up on the bars hard and was able to just pull the front end up high enough to keep from lawn darting it.
Riding the Oregon dunes is dangerous for first timers and here is my advice beyond wearing a helmet.
    1. Never ride alone......NEVER!
    2. Never ride between 11am and 1pm on clear sunny days, possibly any day. There are no shadows during that time and you CANNOT see dropoffs even if you are standing right on top of them.
    3. Never attempt a jump that you have not thoroughly scoped out from both directions.
    4. Hydrate often!

I'm surprised your wife is even talking to you :) Remember two things when jumping.... #1 ALWAYS drive over the jump slowly first to check out the launch and landing area. #2 ALWAYS have a spotter standing at the top if you can't see the landing area is clear.

I have seen UFO's twice in my life. As a kid (12) I thought I was looking at the North Star in Massachusetts and my cousin said North was the other direction so we were staring at this super bright light in the sky and all of a sudden it started darting all over the sky and shot away. Then in my early twenties camping at the base of Mount Washington in New Hampshire three UFO's came over the camp site in triangle formation and split off in different directions faster than a falling star. Most amazing thing. Glad you guys got to experience that.

    • @Maxx.Powell

That's one way to look at it. And yes its been expensive and downright dangerous. But I've also traveled thousands of miles, seen some amazing sights, made countless memories with my closest friends and family, met some amazing people, felt more alive then ever, been more motivated and inspired then ever before, started a buisness, made more money then ever before both in my career and multiple side gigs, bought my dream house, gained 80k subs and im leading an awesome community of people that are replicating those exact same things and improving their own lives! Fast paced lifestyles will always be costly but you get shit done and it can be extremly fulfilling. If you constantly slow down to consider every outcome of every decision youl lose momentum. No faster way to slip into a life of monotony than to start worrying about everything.

If I sat around for 30 years and died like that I woul have wasted my entire life. A lot of people let of the gas in a jump as a reaction, this immediately slows the tires and the loss of rotation drops the front end down. You need to stay on the gas and at least keep the wheels going the same speed as at takeoff to land flatter!

Who jumps his sxs the first time in the dunes with it? The guy with the totaled sxs.
You really need to stop and think before you act. You not only endangered you and your passenger but WHAT ABOUT THE POOR SAP YOU LAND ON BY JUMPING WITHOUT A SPOTTER!!!!. People are killed in the dunes, usually due to doing stupid stuff or being near someone who does stupid stuff. Next time go out with an experienced duner and FOLLOW THEM AND LEARN. When I first started my brother (who had been going to the dunes for over 10 years at that point) told me the first 3 trips will be the most dangerous. If you can make it past that you will have a good chance at not getting greased. My best friends brother was killed riding at Coos Bay, first time out and riding on a 3 wheeler (tells you how long ago that was). Take it EASY next time and learn how to be safe and have fun before getting too crazy.

I have been to the Florence Dunes quite a few times, and I can tell you from first hand experience that the terrain there is abnormally unforgiving.
I actually stopped taking my rig there because I kept getting stuck, even with being at 5psi all the time.
Plus it is is ridiculously easy to roll a vehicle there.
You really didn't do anything that crazy, man. It's just the luck of the draw there.
Next time you want to go hit some sand dunes with your truck or future side by side, give the Sand Lake Dunes a try.

Man glad you guys are OK. Once I get settled in to my new house in Vancouver, I can cut out that tube and replace it. We could even build a platform for the tent on that trailer so
You can just leave it in one place and not on the truck......

@maxx Powell I was literally down at Florence this past weekend, you’ll have to check out the Winchester dunes, it’s about 45 min south of Florence, but 1000x better variety, better camping, and better sand. Sorry to see what happened to the can-am though. Funny to watch a video recap of essentially the same drive I just did lol

Holy crap! i'm a little late to the party. back to the alien encounter. A while back on Ft. lewis, now JBLM. I was on RTO guard with another guy in my Platoon. This was around 2003-2004 sort of late summer, on an overwatch we normally did in Recon. We were just getting ready to be relieved, but all 4 of us decided to stay up. We must've been talking for maybe 5 minutes when all of the sudden the sky lit up all around us. We were frozen, not able to really think.. much..? it was all so weird. but anyway, same exact thing. the next morning we kind of just looked at each other, and i think it wasnt until later on that day that one of the guys commented about his dream. it was surreal. We were recentlly talking about this encounter on facebook even.

What if your an alien and you dont even know it? Like men in Black! On the plus side. There is a certain UA-cam channel, guy who likes guns and ranches (you get it) who also buys all these toys, talks all the talk, but never walks the walk. At least you Maxx do not fall into that category! Your balls deep every time and thats why we love ya!

Honestly, @maxxpowell, you’ve created an entirely new genre of video: the "cringe video". The messes you get into just blow my mind. I simply cannot believe Des puts up with all the disasters and debacles, and I’m not sure I’d have the stones to publish all my humiliations out to the world. Hat’s off to, you, man.
