'The secret garden' of Changdeokgung Palace was built by King Taejong when he founded Changdeokgung Palace,
This area was built during the reign of King Seongjong and extended to Changgyeonggung Palace.
'The Secret Garden' was mostly destroyed during the Japanese Invasion of Korea , but it was rebuilt in 1610.
Later, through several kings, it took on its present appearance.
'The secret garden' of Changdeokgung Palace
made beautiful pavilions in each valley while keeping the natural topography intact.
Each of the four valleys is divided into a site (芙蓉池), Aeryeonji (愛蓮池), an observation site (觀纜池), and Okryucheon (玉).
When you enter 'the secret garden' of Changdeokgung Palace, you go from a wide and open place to a small and deep place, gradually changing from artificial to natural, leading to the foot of Bukhansan Mountain.
'The secret garden' of Changdeokgung Palace was used as a space for the royal family's rest and walk, and the king planted crops here to experience farming firsthand, and the queen held a Chinjamrye (親蠶 ritual) where she slept herself.
In addition, it was used in various forms such as writing poetry and discussing studies, military training, pond fishing, floating boats, and archery, such as flower viewing.
