    The thermonullifier has its own small list of problems to deal with, but it's probably the simplest and most efficient way to reduce heat in your colony. Honestly, it's TOO good at reducing heat. Leave it running long enough and it'll turn everything its touching into an ice box without proper insulation. Thankfully, it doesn't have any additional by-products to deal with; all you have to worry about is its cold generation and shut it off when its not needed. I tend to use it for an HVAC center, using the smidge of leftover hydrogen from nearby SPOMs to power the nullifier, both keeping the SPOMs cooled and to chill the O2 to unreasonably cold levels before distributing it around the base. If you also get around to recycling old air back through the system, it has the added benefit of nuking any food poisoning or slimelung germs if you let it get cold enough.

    It's a good idea to set the incubators up with cycle sensors so they don't all run at the same time. They only have to be on long enough to get a dupe to hug em.
    Ranch dreckos for sustainable phosphorite.
    The nullified keeps the room it's in cool. It's an okay use for excess hydrogen from a spom, but I think power is a better use.

      Or timers with 60s green, 600s red. This will save alot of power

    Love the series and the game. I’m very new to this game, but here are some of my tips for you.
    Your wheezewort in the power room won’t cool anything down without being fertilized every cycle. Send some phosphorite in the conveyor with coal and auto-sweepers can fertilize it on their own. Those plants are quite nice at cooling, especially if you stack a few of them at once. They are even better if they’re in the hydrogen as it has a good thermal conductivity. But as far as I’m aware wheezewort are radioactive in the DLC so place them away from your dupes. You have like 5t of phosphorite, you can run your one wheezewort for 1200 cycles with no worries and there is so much more of it on map that it doesn't matter yet.
    The Anti Entropy Thermo-Nullifier removes heat as described but it takes some effort to set it up and it’s not the most efficient thing in the world. It uses up 10 g of hydrogen per second so that’s not a lot. But it can’t remove a lot of heat. I have it cool down 3 pipes full of oxygen and one can only get it down from 60 degrees C to 30 degrees C, so I have to run those pipes through another AETN to cool the oxygen down to around 0 degrees and send it into my base. I think one is comparable to 16 wheezewort in an oxygen atmosphere as that’s how I was cooling down my gas pipes for a few cycles before I set up the AETN.
    I don’t think it will do well with cooling liquids like water, I haven’t tried it but if it struggles to cool down O2 I doubt it will be good with water without making it loop several times - but then you have to do better temperature control to prevent it from freezing, I have mine set up with a gas shut-off 3 tiles below AETN, connected to a thermo sensor. When the temperature drops below the designated temperature it shuts off the gas intake, but because it’s 3 tiles below the machine, it has 3 kg of hydrogen still going into it, and that has to be taken into consideration when cooling water, or you can use some different ways of turning it off - like placing mechanized doors under AETN and opening them when temperature is low enough - it will turn off the machine when doors are opened, but when closed the machine will work. Either way it’s a good machine for cooling in the early game, not the best, but still quite handy and cheap. When you set up your electrolyzers, you can use it to cool down the oxygen with hydrogen it produces and you still will have enough to run a hydrogen generator (one generator needs 100 g/s, one electrolyzer produces 112 g/s).
    A cheap way to remove heat is to place tempshift plates made out of ice in a hot place. Ice will consume heat and melt, turning into cold water which you can just mop.
    Instead of pumping water from above to your tank down below, just let it drop. Place a few tiles to guide it to your tank and it’s a much easier and cheaper way of moving water. Also build a few deodorizers on the second planetoid, send sand if needed. They will very quickly turn polluted oxygen into normal oxygen. Food spoils faster in the polluted oxygen and yucky lungs aren’t good as well.

    Gas and liquid movement is strange in this game. Dig out each side of your ladders to give three blocks for air to move up and down through. Only having the ladder and no other way to go the gasses are fighting for the block .

  • @aaronward5612
    @aaronward5612 4 місяці тому +2

    If you make a stable for the plug slugs and have a rancher groom/ tame them they will give 1600 watts each. Don't let them near water, they will absorb the liquid and if killed or when they die they release the liquid all at once. They can hold alot of liquid!

  • @foamyesque

    Part of the reason your Wheezewort is struggling -- apart from the lack of fertilization -- is that it is in a CO2 environment. Wheezeworts work like Aquatuners or Thermo-Regulators; they cool by a fixed number of *degrees*, not a fixed amount of *heat*, which means you get the most benefit by inputting in materials with high thermal capacities. For gases, that's hydrogen. Put a fume hood into the roof of the generator room for the wheezy to operate in, fill that with hydrogen, and maybe run a p. water pipe or hydrogen duct loop through it and over the generators to get the heat moved around. One fed wheezewort should be able to negate ~1.25 coal generators running continuously, so whether or not the temperature goes down is going to depend on your average utilization is.

  • @foamyesque
    @foamyesque 4 місяці тому

    The thing about the AETN is that you can use it to hit extremely cold temperatures before you have access to Super Coolant without the relatively large power requirements of a Thermo-Regulator. 1kDTU/watt is extremely efficient, and an AETN is able to condense sour gas into methane, a key step in natural gas production. Can't produce LOX or liquid hydrogen for rockets, though.

    Your wheeze wart isn’t active because the plant doesn’t have what it needs to function, that’s why its not cooling your coal generators, and when you gave it phosphorite, it was working it just needs time to do its thing

    • @thr3308
      @thr3308 4 місяці тому

      and there's already auto sweepers in the room so if some phosphorite could be delivered via the coal chute, you should be right as rain

    You need the critter pick up flag in your incubator rooms...well I guess you don't NEED it but it's definitely helpful now that they divided the old critter drop off into two halves, for pick up and drop off, so you can more clearly specify where the critters are supposed to be coming from and going to, rather than the ambiguous room full check.

    The thermo nullifier is a great way to completely delete heat, especially earlier in the game when you don't have a ton of steel and plastic and aqua tuners and steam turbines and things. It has a gas input for hydrogen (it only uses 10g/s which is less than 10% of what a single electroliser produces, my SPOMs usually have two electrolisers so it barely touches my power generation honestly) and then you pipe whatever you want to cool over the top of it. I usually use a _|-|_|-|_|-|_ sort of "zig zag" pattern so you have as much pipe length over the cooling tiles as possible - typically liquid pipes because I put my smelter near it and create a cooling loop that sends the liquid round and round until it hits a low enough temperature to feed back into the smelter. I tend to stick a liquid reservoir inside the loop as well/right next to the AETN so that I can have more than a single smelter's load of coolant cycling through for more uptime on the smelter.
    Edit: The hydrogen in the bog bucket room is because hydrogen is basically the lightest gas and will always rise. The slug plugs are excreting hydrogen and it's rising upwards and then coming through the door of that room, which is the standard default door that allows both gas and liquid to go through it. Those tiles are the highest ones the gas can easily reach so it's pooling there. I'd suggest creating a room at the top of the base area where the hydrogen will naturally pool that's at least two tiles high so you have room for a gas pump, that way you can use automation (or a gas filter, but they take more power) to pump the hydrogen to use for power generation so you don't need the manual generator. Hydrogen's also good for a drecko ranch with either oxygen or carbon dioxide at the bottom to grow mealwood so you can get glossy dreckos for a source of plastic as well as phosphorite. (They'll also eat peppa pinchnuts which grow in hydrogen but that way they'll probably stay as normal dreckos so you'll get reed fibers instead of plastic.)

    @15:40 for the power slugs, you want to leave a 2 long piece of wire with th ed exposed hanging from a roof, for hte power slugs to sleep on if you want them to generate power for you.

  • @Dalorian1
    @Dalorian1 4 місяці тому

    The added radiation will be a problem over time. I would recommend working on a new power plant project that utilizes the renewables around you, and stop relying on coal. Coal will run out sooner then you'd like.. Trust me... Either make a electrolysis station that burns off the extra hydrogen and pumps the oxygen into your base after cooling it, or hind a natural gas vent if you can, cause thats the most efficient... My base has several of many different forms of power generation all feeding into the main power line.

    is it really smart to start rushing to dig limited resources to feed a plant fosforite in a room you cant reach without emptying your generators
    instead of just building a radiator
    run some conductive piping from the hot place trough the cool place and then dumping them back into the hot place
    does the game not model liquid temperatures in pipes

    • @aaronward5612
      @aaronward5612 4 місяці тому

      It's a first run. He is figuring the game out and doing a pretty good job at it. Yes the game has all kinds of temp diffrienchals and ways to combat them. The limited resource is only limited to the players play choice. There are ways to obtain every resource in the game. The player has to figure those ways out. Yes a radiator system and automated drop off of phosphorus would make it more efficient, but he hasn't got there yet.

    • @aaronward5612
      @aaronward5612 4 місяці тому

      @@ashardalondragnipurake this game is insanely into the temperature exchange. Through gas and liquid pipes, the gasses and liquids themselves, and through solid objects. If you aren't careful, one mis dug block could ruin the entire game. Insulation and radiation is a must for later game. Can't wait to see how he handles the extremes!
