This isn't terrible for $50, probably usable for vintage computer (8088,6502,z-80 etc). I like the font on the meter, and ive definitely seen slower update rates.
Specifically to imsai_guy, if you'd walked into a radio shack in 1975, and this was in the glass case for $49.95, what would you have done. I dont think todays tinkers really understand how cheap good test equipment is, and how cheap and easy it is to get into the "computer trainer" hardware arena compared to those times. Its incredible that microwave motion detection and lidar are hobby items. It sux getting old, but im so glad to have seen the entire home computer evolution. I would love to have had an imsai, altair or even an apple back then, but those were well out of reach. In those days, "adults" didn't understand why anyone would want a computer in their house. I did get to build a cosmac elf ii though. I still have it.

I have one of these, and I love it. Just wish I would have maybe waited for the dual scoped version. I loved the digital meter screen.

I reviewed the ZT-703S (the dual channel version) a while ago, it did pretty well, tested all accuracies on my calibrators and standards (AC/DC/Resistance/Current/Capacitance) and had no issues with calibrating the probes .

Looks pretty nice and useful. A far shot from a Soviet S1-112A portable analog scope which had a built-in digital VOM. It displayed 7-segment digits as vector graphics on the scope CRT.

@@alaricsnellpym not as heavy as you may think, but way heavier and bulkier than your standard DMM. I made a pair of videos about it: ua-cam.com/video/FYi_Zs2MAHQ/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/bnW6cyQRuNM/v-deo.html

I have both the ZT-702S and the ZT-703S. The 702S came with a garbage 18650 battery and the meter would show low battery within seconds of turning it on. I replaced the battery and all was fine thereafter. The 703S I bought did not come with a battery, so I installed one of my own and it also worked fine. I do prefer the dual scope version for signal comparisons. The display is easy to read. Menus require a little familiarization time, but both are handy tools.

Hello... Just a comment on what you probably didn't pay attention...
When you tried to calibrate the oscilloscope probe, you were at 100KHz...
The change of amplitude while trying to adjust the compensation of the probe at this frequency is pretty much expected (in any oscilloscope).
It's still true though that the step response is horrible as a - say - 5MHz oscilloscope should display a decent square wave at 100KHz.

    • @janvangorsel1844
      @janvangorsel1844 2 місяці тому

I had the same thought. You should have used the 1 kHz signal. Probe respons is indeed ugly

I was thinking the same thing. I like the 25000 counts of the 703s - it's the main reason I upgraded to it. Still considering myself a noob, I'd rather accidentally blow this up than my Siglent 3065X (which I consider the one 'expensive' meter I decided to get, as opposed to something like a Fluke).

I've got one of these, an early production run. I could not update the F/W in it. I had Windows interrogate the 702's memory & it found that it was corrupted. Windows offered to repair it & it did! I was then able to install the latest F/W.

I ended up with a Zotech 702S which seems to be the same, but with no brand name on the box, and the startup screen just says "digital oscilloscope". Maybe it's a clone?
It's been well worth the 80 bucks, and I haven't even tried to use it as a meter yet.

Shouldn't scope probe compensation be done at about 1KHz, not 100KHz?
For the price this thing seems to be a bit of a stinker. For about the same money one could get the Zeeweii DSO3D12 and have a dual channel 100MHz (50MHz dual) scope with larger screen, just as good a DMM and a rudimentary generator to boot.

    • @pault6533

The thing I see repeated is reviewer use without consulting the manual. Then what it becomes is a the meter testing the user, instead of the other way around. 😉
