I saw Pantera 3 times in the 90's - absolutely changed metal/thrash/groove/core music when it needed a new "face" - these guys played their kind of music the way they wanted and gave zero fucks what anyone thought. Their raw, brash music and attitude made so many people appreciate them even more. Now, diving into a mosh pit at these shows was almost life threatening, but as a young guy, it was a challenge and even though I got thoroughly beaten and bloodied, the smile on my face was witness to exactly how much this band meant to me and everyone in that pit with me. Anyone who jumps into pits know there is an honor system and unwritten do's and don'ts - it was my honor to mosh to Pantera - I honestly cannot think of another band that got me as pumped as these guys. You must do Cowboys from Hell next. Then maybe some I'm Broken. I'll be watching.

Dimebag is god, especially with a guitar in his hand. He probably influenced a HUGE amount of modern guitarist's when it comes to metal. Pantera's influence in modern metal can't be overstated.

I have a history with these guys. They are incredible, and you need to dive deep. I noticed you reacted to Sepultura earlier. This lead singer, Philip Anselmo, introduced me to Max Cavalera when I was about 12 yrs old (1994 I think). They toured together on the Far Beyond Driven tour. Phil always thought highly of those guys. Anyway, keep it going…. As far as the lyrics, you’ll see his lyrics are often dark bu go much deeper. These are a little more traditional metal lyrics.
What a great introduction to Pantera. It was many years being a fan before I saw this performance (it was on a "home videos" style vhs). This band kept the metal heart beating here in the US as "grunge" and rap music became the mainstream and overtook everything, and many metal bands were going soft or otherwise trying to adapt to the changing landscape of American music. Absolute legends. I have a question for you. Are you a fan of the punk band Screeching Weasel? For maybe 25 years now they have been my favorite, at least the first 5 records. Many times I feel like bands who focus lyrically on politics or social problems, they become (to me) kind of dated, very much stuck in being a teenager. SWs lyrics seem to go beyond that and hold relevance to me now, even in my 40s. I'd love to see you go through some of their stuff, especially from Wiggle or Boogadaboogadaboogada. Anyway, cheers dude and congrats on 1000 subs!

Tranquillo...
Always love reactions to this performance!
😎
This is just punk rock with precision! And power, passion, and pride.
This his metal because Of solos and riffs but is close to hardcore punk, expecially Black Flag!..
The guitarist Dimebag Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul are brothers, both passed on now. They are Rock Royalty.
