आशापुरा माता की कहानी
देवी आशापुरा की सबसे लोकप्रिय कहानियों में से एक कराड वानिया देवचंद नामक व्यापारी से जुड़ी है। व्यापारी देवी अम्बा का परम भक्त था। उसके कोई सन्तान न थी।
एक बार वह नवरात्रि के दौरान कच्छ के रण से यात्रा कर रहे थे। वह उपवास कर रहा था और वह एक विशेष स्थान पर रुक गया और सो गया।
उस रात उन्हें एक सपना आया जिसमें देवी अम्बा ने उनसे उस स्थान पर उनके लिए एक मंदिर बनाने के लिए कहा।
उसने उससे कहा कि उसे उस स्थान पर एक नारियल और चुंदरी मिलेगी जहां मंदिर बनाया जाएगा।
देवी माँ ने उनसे यह भी कहा कि मंदिर बनने के बाद छह महीने तक दरवाजा न खोलें। उसने उससे कहा कि वह छह महीने के दौरान मंदिर के अंदर अपनी उपस्थिति महसूस कराएगी।
देवचंद ने मंदिर बनवाया और दरवाजा बंद कर दिया। छह महीने पूरे होने के कुछ महीने पहले से ही उसने सुबह-शाम मंत्र सुनना शुरू कर दिया। वह अधीर हो गया और उसने यह देखने के लिए दरवाज़ा खोला कि बंद दरवाज़ों के पीछे क्या हो रहा था।
उन्हें देवी माँ की आधी बनी मूर्ति मिली।
आज भी देवी आशापुरा की मूर्ति उनके घुटनों पर दिखाई देती है। ऐसा प्रतीत होता है मानो वह खड़े होने का प्रयास कर रही हो।
मंदिर का पुजारी या महंत कापड़ी वंश का होता है।
देवी को समर्पित मुख्य त्योहार चैत्र नवरात्रि (मार्च-अप्रैल) और शरद नवरात्रि (सितंबर-अक्टूबर) हैं।
Story of Ashapura Mata
One of the most popular stories of Goddess Ashapura is associated with a trader named Devchand, a Karad Vania. The trader was an ardent devotee of Goddess Amba. He did not have any children.
Once during a navratri he was traveling through Rann of Kutch. He was fasting and he stopped at a particular spot and slept.
That night he had a dream in which Goddess Amba asked him to build a temple for her in the spot.
She told him that that he will find a coconut and chundri on the spot where the temple is to be built.
Mother Goddess also told him not to open the door for six months after the temple was built. She told him that she would make her presence felt inside the shrine during the six months.
Devchand built the temple and closed the door. A couple of months before the expiry of six months he started hearing mantras in the morning and evening. He grew impatient and opened the door to see what was happening behind the closed doors.
He found a half-formed murti (idol) of Mother Goddess.
Even today, the murti of Goddess Ashapura is seen on her knees. She appears as if she was attempting to stand up.
The priest or Mahant of the temple belongs to the order of Kapadi.
The main festival dedicated to the Goddess is Chaitra Navratri (March - April) and Sharad Navratri (September - October)
