kairilisuseless, both are deadly. leopard is for speed and mobility - great for small or medium sized fighters. Tiger is powerful grabs and rakes for strong muscular fighters.
Kung fu teaches different techniques and tactics for different body types and mindsets.

If you're small and fast, I recommend Snake fighting style.

I like the cool music and simple, short, useful and practical information Master Tan gives in his videos. Every other video I see on any other martial art by other masters usually bores me to the point I don't care to learn from them. I'd learn from Master Tan any day of year!!!

Tasdid, First learn to punch with a fist - it is more practical. Leopard is advanced. You can damage your finger joints because there is no muscle covering the knuckles. That's why there are secret training methods. Practice striking a bag filled with rice or dried beans. Strike lightly from 3 - 6 inches away and focus on penetration not power. Leopard require accuracy to soft areas never to hard bone in the head or skull. Find a good teacher or you may injure yourself. Good luck!

Greetings from japan. I am currently making up my own martial arts called cats claw mao jow pai. It focuses on speed and hitting weak points with cat movements. I am mostly a self taught martial artist and would like your advice.

Master tan How to you scale Tiger Style against the Leopard Style?

The Leopard technique requires incredible precision and hand strength, even then you must shorten your strikes for it to be effective.

Shaolin Kempo uses 5 animal techniques in a more linear and powerful way that reflects the Japanese karate influence. Hong Gar, Chinese Shaolin and TanDao animal techniques are more circular and subtle. Which is better? All styles are effective in the hands of one who has truly mastered the style.

You're welcome!!! I'm personally attracted to the tiger form. I read about variations of it like Hu Hei Quan(Black Tiger), Bak Fu Pai(White Tiger), Hun gar(Tiger Crane) and even a dragon/tiger form. I will be looking at your videos some more in the future. Please do more tiger demonstrations and videos. TIGER is my favorite form to watch. Plus tigers are my favorite animal.

    Hello Master Tan
I liked your videos very much and I have started training and I have some questions.
How shall I do the conditioning of the leopard paw?
Can I use the leopard paw to hit the nose?
Thank you .I will be waiting for your answer.

    Hello master Tan,
I liked your videos very much and I have started practicing and I have some questions. Would you be so kind to answer them?
How can I do the conditioning of the leopard paw? And is there any other way to strengthen my tiger claw except the tiger claw push ups? And can I use the leopard paw to hit the nose?
    Thank You

Tasid, For strong tiger claws use exercises that strengthen your wrist and fingers like wrist roller with weights, curls with dumbbells, and hand grips that you squeeze. You must have strong fingers with tiger or you will injure your fingers. First learn to punch with a fist before using animal techniques which require more skill and proper instruction. Be patient and persevere!
