Effective Finance Reconciliations With Power BI

Reconciliations are an important Finance control ensuring the completeness and accuracy of our Finance data. In this video we discuss the attributes of an effective reconciliation control and how Power BI can help us to achieve this. We work through a basic example comparing two datasets using a star schema structure and show how this enables us to drill down and identify differences. Finally we look at a more detailed example based on a Written Premium reconciliation for an insurance company. We review an example Power BI report that an company may use to perform their reconciliation.

Hi Leonardo, thank you, so pleased you enjoyed the video. I presume you mean the PBIX for the final demo of the reconciliation report? I'm not able to share that unfortunately. I do intend to do some more videos explaining some of the techniques used in that report - for example how to read the reconciling items from Excel (using Power Automate) which is not widely covered online. If there are other aspects of the report you would like me to cover then please do ask.

A few people have asked me to do some design based videos - I've tended away from that as there are already several amazing people producing a lot of Power BI design content. There seems to be a demand for it though, I'll have to think how to structure it to make a good / useful video. Thanks for your input.
