What's the volume in litres?
35L
And this is the continental version? Because Tumis website says it’s 45 litres which I think is wrong.
"You hear that? That is the sound of a design department that gives a shit" lmfao. spot on, and i'm a rimowa fan boy.
You've convinced me, great video and stellar arguments! I think the soft close mechanism, easy locking and the ability to open the luggage whilst its standing without having the smaller contents fly everywhere is a huge plus for me personally. Not to mention, the zippers on both sides are clamshell, you don't really need to lay down the luggage and open it like you traditionally would -- instead, you can position the zippers near the top, and slowly open from top-down approach to take out only what's necessary. Obviously, it also depends on how good you pack to utilize this design, but for myself, I can visualize grabbing the necessary packing cubes with ease.
Thanks for demo'ing the laptop retrieval ease @ 3:03; I find this is very common at security checkpoints. Or for whatever you need quick access too, you no longer need to have outside sleeves, which is not applicable on an all-metal case. Design wise for the interior, this is absolutely game-changer and beats the Rimowa interior; velcro deteriorates overtime far quicker than zippers do, and not to mention, you can't do what you just demonstrated @ 3:03 with Rimowa.
Only downside I can see and agree is that the handle seems flimsy, and that Tumi products are outsourced to third-world countries, but are still charging an arm and a leg for these products.
Crazy high quality video!
Keep up the great work😎
Thank you! I really appreciate that.
best review i've seen on youtube. you convinced me!
Another things that Rimowa must improve is the Mechanic Locking System made from PLASTIC . All of my Rimowa broke one of each from inside , while Tumi lock made from metal and super strong with not possible to easily brake .
Great review, thanks a ton.
Yeah… that’s a good review. Thx for sharing with us 👊🏽🥰🫵🏽
Very nice review. Thank you!!
I'm glad you liked it!
I don’t know i find this funny. But sold! Ordering the international version 🌸
Thanks for this review! Great work, I’m in the market for luggage and visited the Rimowa shop today, but didn’t purchase yet. I like the features of the Tumi, especially that zip compartment pocket on the inside, but that weight would be an issue for me. I also prefer the look of the Rimowa, rather than the wavy look of Tumi!
Really great review! Thanks to that I bought a Tumi instead of Rimowa and I love it. Keep up the great work! Regards from Germany!
Glad I could help!
Hi, how does the handle feel when extended, is it sturdy?
Like your zen shade at Rimowa
Thank you for this, I know what you mean by the handle issue with Rimowa. My dad gave me his old barely use Rimowa original check in M and I was cleaning it because it was so dusty and the handle snapped down and hurt my finger. It's so painful when come slaps hard on a fingernail.
I watched this review and immediately bought it as a gift for my older brother who travels a lot for work, he was over the moon about his new luggage! thank you!
I just got Tumi Rolling trunk yesterday! big fans!
He called the designers at away infants lmaoooo 😂 im weak
I'm glad someone appreciated it hahaha
I also applaud that comment 😂
Amazing review and comparison!!
Thanks Joseph!
I owed rimowa before and I now actually work at Tumi. I can say from having both that the tumi is far better and also a better value! I’m of course biased but i’d choose tumi over rimowa any day.
In what ways can you share?
Did you consider the international version? I’m on the fence between the two sizes.
I did consider it. I think the international size is aesthetically more appealing but since I often only travel with a carry on I figured the extra space was necessary for me.
Great video thank you ! However, for me, the wheels of the Rimowa are by far better than any other luggage.
Hi, do you still like your Tumi? Thinking between rimowa and tumi check in.
Can you please review MVST! Thank you!
I own and love Rimowa luggage and I agree with a lot of the commentary in this video. Tumi makes the best luggage in my opinion but I do prefer the look of the Rimowa original over the Tumi 19°.
Fair enough
From an 'aesthetic' point of view, I believe the Rimowa has 'yet' to be surpassed. We also have to remember that Rimowa has been approached on 'numerous' occasions by international luxury brands to collaborate with their own brands (which significantly displays their respect for the brand of Rimowa.....something that ' Tumi' has done on the 'odd' occasion ( I believe McLaren??).
Also, the Tumi internal 'stitched-in' dividers probably will not hold out on an 'eager-over packer'. And therefore, unfortunately will not be covered by a 'Lifetime Guarantee!'. Loved your video.
Thank you for the comment! I also really like the Rimowa look.
I own both the rimowa original cabin twist and the Tumi Titanium international 19 and the tumi is hands down nicer in every aspect. I love both but when it comes tot he details, tumi takes the cake in every category.
Oh.. and my Tumi titanium weighs 11 oz.. so i think the weight is about 9Lbs lighter 😂 also more way stronger, comes with a tracking service if its lost or stolen and doesn’t have any problem with corrosion
@@legolasgaming3277is the titanium THAT much more dent resistant?
Thank you for the video. Have you ever been rejected to take this onboard because of the continental dimensions? I also got the continental instead of the international variant but I am a bit worried some airlines might not accept it.
Negative. I have only been forced to check it once due to weight and that was with Turkish Airlines.
@@OroundTheWorld Hey, Thanks for letting me know!
I had never heard of Rimowa until 3:43 and I was like “that is so much cooler looking that the Tumi” 😂
Fair enough lol
Haha spot on! Super valid points. Rimowa dividers are a joke, only workaround are the packaging cubes. Loud plastic handles are somewhat still "ok" .. but I think the most important thing to mention for frequent travellers is the squeaking sound of the Rimowa telescopic handle. It is so annoying. It's just there all the time, no matter what. One thing that does Rimowa better imho are the wheels, especially on the thick carpets or outdoors during the rain.
Hahaha the weight is a huge deal breaker, I'd swap that handle sound for 1 kg less weight 😂 I'm waiting for Rimowa to make their aluminum cases even lighter, then that's when they become the best for me. Thanks for this video! You have a lovely, calm voice btw
question - have you had any problems with this being 16" wide? I want the extra room but most of the domestic airlines and international say 14" wide is the limit.
I'm working on an update video with info like this. I have been able to fit it in some of the smallest overhead bins. The only issue I have had is on the small overheads when the side handle on the suitcase lines up with the latch of the bin, but sliding the bag over a little gives the necessary clearance for the bin to close.
I recently switched to Rimowa- two back to back trips my Tumi Valet then my Tumi Alpha roller briefcase broke. So we got rid of all Tumi and replaced with Rimowa. LOVE the Rimowa. I feel like when someone has to spend about 50% of the review talking about the competition it is very telling. Rimowa is just better quality.
I love my TUMI 19 degree aluminum carry on. ❤
Hey, can you fit an iPad with a keyboard case into the zipper bit on the divider pockets? Or a 13 inch laptop?
I feel confident saying, yes. I regularly use it for my microsoft surface pro and there is plenty of wiggle room.
What about the weight of both bags? Is it a problem? I know many airlines have set weight limits now.
As I mention towards the end of the video, the Tumi is slightly heavier and yes some airlines have weight restrictions for carry ons, but I personally have NEVER been asked to weight my carry on before boarding a flight. From what I understand the only airlines that might enforce the carry on weight restrictions are super budget airlines, and lets be fair, if someone is flying super budget airlines on a regular basis then they might want to rethink buying an expensive carry on.
Cool Review!
Thank you, Antonio!
Like I stated in my previous comment: I am a Diehard RIMOWA and halliburton fan and there is nothing you can do to convince me otherwise.
The only reason why you earned my subscription and a big thumbs up is your calming spirit and the 433hz soundtrack.
Am 44 years old and I aspire to ascend to your spiritual heights.
I also like your minimalist taste in your living room and the fact that you are bare footed.
Am American but I wanna go to India or China and study Buddhism.
America is stressful and scary and watching and listening to you is invigorating.
Thanks.
Hope you can start a meditative and health channel. We are stressed out and obese and suffer with serious mental issues
lol Thanks you for sharing Malik!
I’m sold ❤❤❤
Great! I'm getting the classic cabin lol Not sure if I like that design.
It's nice and I like the way how they dealt with the laptop compartment inside. But apart from that I take the RIMOWA in a heart beat. Lighter, better design (to me) and meanwhile coming with a lifetime guarantee. As a very frequent traveler that's valued more. But nice review.
its hypnotizing
just bought this and the mathcing rollling trunk, the rolling trunk is heavy but i fly private for work so that wont be an issue
The weight is the only thing that keeps me from purchasing the trunk. Flying private is the dream.
nice review but the weight is almost 6kg..
Can this luggage in the video be carry on for domestic US flights?
Yes!
It is simply too heavy to buy it at that price. It's 5kg. Most airlines have a limit of 8kg for handbags. Means you can barely put anything in if you wanna stay within the weight limit.
Samsonite now owns Tumi, and the titanium they now have...OMGAWD
Is This a Positive or negative comment??
How can you review a suitcase without mentioning the wheels?
if you knew rimowa, then u should know it's pronounced as rimoVa.
That's how my girlfriend says it but there is clearly no V.
What about the multi wheels system and stability, what about the life time guarantee, what about the 220 human steps handmade suitcases of RIMOWA made in Germany .
Both roll incredibly smooth. The Tumi almost rolls too well. It tends to run away from me in airports, and unfortunately, neither manufacturer offers a lifetime guarantee anymore.
@@OroundTheWorld Well RIMOWA does, maybe make a new video about the lifetime warranty of RIMOWA because I know Tumi doesn't (It is a SAMSONITE warranty).
@@OroundTheWorld Rimowa does offer a lifetime warranty
tumi is owned by samsonite
True...
How do you lock this?
There are separate 3 digit combination locks on each latch.
I chose to go with tuning after i compared the quality of both. Tumi is by far much more study and strong. I got it because im tired of having to buy new bags that have been broken
This must be a Tumi-sponsored review...
lol I wish.
that was funny lol
The weight just shows that Tumi isn't cheaping out on aluminum.
But for me the TUMI looks horrible. I did think about the TItanium but the aesthetics do not work for me.
Is something made in China better than something made in Germany? The issue with Tumi is that they have copycats, and although they are cheaper in terms of cost, carrying a Tumi bag is like dreaming of owning a Rimowa but not being able to afford it.
Considering the difference in price is only $100, I don't think your second argument holds water. As for where each suitcase is manufactured, I believe How something is made is more important than Where it's made, and they are both crafted very well. Thanks for your comment!
Am a RIMOWA and HALLIBURTON CENTURION collector and I am not willing to entertain any other brand.
Now, let's talk about this guy.
I am a YOGA, MEDITATION AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS AND VIBRATION student and I can attest to you this young man is on a higher spiritual realm and dimension than most people you will encounter.
His soothing, calming tone and tranquil nature comes from years and years of pure thoughts and meditation 🧘♂️.
James Allen talks about this.
You don't have to join a monastery to find peace.
Sorry for the long dissertation but am thoroughly in awe and after this video I will shut off the world and find the peace within.
Thanks again.
Across the pond lol
Gatekeeping aluminium luggage? 😆
John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Most carryon is within 10kg or less and this empty luggage is already 5.8kg ? What’s the point of having a luggage that weights heavier than your content. Just plain silly.
It's really only an issue for budget airlines that weight carry-ons, and personally, I can handle the weight.
LV did not buy Rimowa
LVMH did that owns LV
The reason why you see more is due to replicas as people want to own it
Handles of cabin classic are leather and much better than both the Tumi and conventional handles
Did I mention the life time warranty?
They both only recently returned to lifetime warranty. 2 years ago, both companies were rocking the 5 year warranty, but they had to compete with all the straight to consumer mid-tier manufacturers offering lifetimes.
Rimowa has better wheels.
Yes, except one is made in Germany or Canada, and the other in China, I’ll keep the Rimowa.
tumi vs rimowa is like samsung vs apple. one is industry leading and most sought after in the market while the other is always trying but just can't beat it. end of the day. tumi like samsung could have the most advanced tech and design ever but rimowa has the brand power and if left to choose most people will always get the rimowa.
When your suitcase costs $2,000 there can’t be too many of them. I’m frequently the only person I see with a Rimowa.
You must not travel a lot. I see them often
Better than rimowa 😂😂.
Rimowa’s design is based on Hitlers personal plane LOL why would you wanna be associated with the Nazis
Tumi wheels are garbage
Did you have a bad experience with Tumi wheels? If so, I'd love to hear the story.
@@OroundTheWorld yes. They lasted 3 months and started to need oiling. Soon they needed oiling regularly. Had them replaced which took me several trip to Tumi in Ottawa to get done (wrong ones ordered by them) and the replacements lasted the same before same problems. Would never spend that much on a Tumi again.
Please focus camera on what you're reviewing, not you. Thanks.
I think if you watch one of the newer videos, you will be quite happy to find this note has already been taken. Thanks.
No worth
One million things RIMOWA does better than TUMI. Customer service, the warranty and repair the actual suitcase, after one year TUMI could not come up with a solution for a spare part and they did not cover it with a solution. What a waste of money... PS I rather find the bitterness referring to LVMH, do know that RIMOWA's are simply made like this for decades now. If you don't like go buy something else but stop comparing a Chinese made product (Tumi) with a quality controlled product and made in Germany for a century now.
What a lousy comment towards TUMI, providing nothing but false information about the company. At the end of the day TUMI has over 125 patents to their name, making higher quality products much higher end than rimowa.
And still not coming up with a solution. The 125 patents are needlessly to say just not valid in my eyes to say they’re more high end than Rimowa. Rimowa has a much better dynamic if it comes to repairing the actual suitcase. Anyway, tumi is just copying rimowa as they brought aluminium (made in China) in their assortiment after the success rimowa has with aluminium suitcases.
@@Thomas81P Have you actually owned both products? Because as a person who’s owned both I can say with confidence that TUMI has way better customer service and repair solutions than Rimowa. My TUMI luggage of 10 years had to get sent in for repair, and got it back 2 weeks later looking brand new.
@@Thomas81P And where it’s made does not equate to the actual high quality material that’s being used. There’s quite a difference between the two. So that argument is irrelevant. It’s the go to argument when there’s no good valid arguments left.
@@Thomas81P Anyways, TUMI has the absolute right to add Aluminum to their collection, just as every other luggage company has done (Away, MVST, Arlo, etc, you name it). TUMI just found a way to actually make it better. I mean did you watch the video? Just compare the soft close handles, the lock system, the enclosed interior, and I mean just look at the exterior design of the TUMI, and many more features they covered in the video. The design of the Rimowa looks like something from Target. It’s a simple bunch of vertical lines. Like after 100 years that’s all they’ve got for design? Now let’s compare what TUMI has done as far as innovation. Now they are making actual titanium made travel pieces in less than 50 years of being founded, they’re partnering with major brands like McClaren and adding carbon fiber to their pieces, they offer a wide selection of backpacks, briefcases, totes, cross-bodies, soft and hard sided luxury luggages and even made from their patented material Tegris. I mean list goes on, lets face it, TUMI has changed the travel industry. Which many have failed to recognize. While Rimowa has not innovated anything new other than aluminum for over a century.
Rimowa is still better and king of luggage
