glad you like it! btw I didn't use any patches from Sonic games. however I did use some patches from Waveworld and Kiarchive (both are huge sample packs that are commonly used in tracked music), which themselves contain patches from various different sources, possibly including videogames (it's very unlikely though).
haha yeah btw idk if you've seen it, but a while back I made a 4-channel amiga version of one of my songs! ua-cam.com/video/DbyJGeWEyvM/v-deo.html it didn't turn out as good as I expected, but it's still good enough imo :)
I could never work in a program like this, i've been spoiled by FL Studio (and even before then, DAWs like LMMS and even beepbox) for far too long... I've tried using trackers for smaller one-off experimental projects and i just can't 😅
Absolutely love stuff like this, you nailed the balance between relaxing and energetic that makes synthwave so great. The Eek mix brought me here, and I see I'm not the only one who's a new fan of yours. Thanks for sharing your work - very excited to hear more! Out of curiosity, have you ever worked with MIDI music before?
@@cs32767 That's awesome! I have no idea how to work with FL Studio beyond the barest essentials, it's incredibly overwhelming to me so I don't blame you at all for not having much experience with it. I've heard good things about Cakewalk; right now Sekaiju is my weapon of choice. Have you ever contributed music to a collaborative album? I'm a musician myself, and these days I mostly compose in the standard MIDI format for mods/level packs made for the classic Doom games. It's a very active community right now, and I'm always looking for new people to collaborate with, and invite to projects I'm leading. :)
I think the main instrument in the first minute and a half or so is doing too much, it sounds a LOT better when it lightens up into what sounds like two at once. I also liked the melody of the two of them better than the solo. Aside from that, everything in the background is great and can stand on its own honestly. Gives me major FTL vibes!
I’m not the best with terminology so sorry about that, but are they chords when it sounds like there’s two of them? I’m not sure why it gets quieter either, but it just hits the ears a lot better when it’s not as loud and more melodic.
Through the power invested in me by Google Chrome I have discovered that it isn't considered a harmony, but the terms I did find for it were confusing in their description so I'm really not sure.
your question is kinda vague, so there are several answers: 1. I made my own custom dark theme for the pattern colours (you can easily do that in View -> Setup -> Display). 2. I made the dots on empty pattern cells invisible by setting "Pattern Editor.FontDot" in advanced settings (View -> Setup -> Advanced) to an empty space instead of a dot. (for this to work, you have to be using a custom font for the pattern instead of one of the built-in ones). (it also doesn't have to be an empty space, you can set it to any other character like a dash, a unicode dot, or even a letter of the alphabet) 3. I usually use Fixedsys (size 9) or Terminal (size 9) for my pattern font, but to have more channels visible in this video, I set it to Courier New (size 8). the Terminal font does not come with Wine (on Linux/Mac/etc), so if you want it (size 9 specifically), copy c:\windows\fonts\vgaoem.fon from a Windows install onto your Wineprefix. other sizes of the Terminal font are located in different .fon files, look them up if you want. 4. for the colours outside of the pattern (e.g. background, scrollbars, channel headers, status bar), you have to customize the colour scheme of Windows. the easiest way to do it is to use the Windows classic theme, which is very customizable, but it has been removed in Windows 8 and newer. I'm only able to do it because I'm running OpenMPT on Wine (on Linux). there are third-party solutions for customizing the colour scheme on Windows 8 and newer, but I'm not familiar with any. 5. for my videos, I hide the Main and Tree toolbars in OpenMPT (check View -> Toolbars), and drag the separator between the pattern view and the pattern control buttons all the way to the top, so that only the pattern is visible. 6. and finally, some additional settings that I set in View -> Setup -> General -> Miscellaneous Options: * "smooth pattern scrolling" set to ON * "display rows in hex" set to ON * "show default volume commands" set to OFF I hope this isn't too long, and most importantly, I hope it helps! :3
found this channel because of the eek! meme video
this song is really good btw
I love finding small music creators that sound good like this
This sound exactly what a 2012 youtube game reviewer would use for their intro.
I don't know if that's supposed to be a compliment, but I'll take it!
It sounds a lot like something from the classic Sonic games, I think I even recognize some of those synth patches. Nicely done!

@@cs32767 Huh, interesting. I guess they're just generic FM sounds then
@@JesusMowsMaLawn yeah probably
Hard to believe we used to get by with 4 channels on the Amiga Paula, 21 sounds great!

just now finding out about this, this sounds so awesome!! :D YAAAAA
You'd single-handedly introduced me music trackers and inspired me to start learning, thanks!!
ALL OF UR MUSIC IS SO PRETTY SO FAR, KEEP GOING MAN !
thank you! :3

It reminds me meme edits that I love. Well done bro❤
not quite sure what you mean by "meme edits", but I'm glad you like it! ^w^

@@cs32767I'm no music theory nerd but I'm pretty sure it's called a harmony... though that might require it to be a specific pairing of tones.

How do you get openmpt to look like that?
