bill might have considered ford as someone more than a friend, considering the fact that he used his own dating advices on him: "love cage" where he suggests us to trap our significant other in a massive stone pyramid and serenading them with songs over and over again until they are mentally insane enough to confess their love to us (which is what he did to ford on weirdmaggedon) "good ol-fashioned valentine" where he explained that leaving dead rats outside of their significant others house, is one of the best kinds of valentine gift (which is basically what he did on fords birthday) he explains that manipulating someone into thinking they are some tragic being and that they are misunderstood, would result in them eating in the palm of their hands and then trapping them in the love cage.
completely went over the bar after ford dumped him (i don't think he would go over the bar if its one of his henchmaniacs/friends that left him)
mabel calling him a needy ex,
that one deleted scene where bill lick's fords spit off his eye,
and countless other evidences that their relationship might have been more intimate.
honestly i have no idea what alex was going with this whole ex thing, but i feel like it's a very interesting way to showcase how bill views and treats love: obsession, possession, property owning, torture, making them insane enough to confess their love to you, etc, i mean they were both born with a genetic mutation, so maybe that's why bill was so attached to him.
But at the same time i have seen some people say that this is just one of his ways to rewire our minds, but like i don't know how pretending to be a needy ex is going to get him out of theraprism, maybe to get on our good side but i feel like it's really unnecessary tbh, but i like to think he's telling the truth that only benefits him, that he does actually like stanford, but is using that fact to get in our heads.
but that's just a theory!

@@AngelicMerci real, i feel like it's not even subtext, it's just blatantly there, and i also agree it's not confirmed, and i don't think it will be, it's just that it's so heavily implied it's impossible that they didn't have something going on, or that alex didn't know what he was doing, he definitely knew what will result when he released the book with all that needy ex stuff, and considering the fact that he fought so hard for queer representation in gravity falls, i don't think the billford stuff in the book is just fan service, i view it as a way for alex to explore their relationship in a new and creative way, he definitely did a very good job exploring the toxicity and psychological horror of bill and fords relationship, and how even though bill is capable of love, it will NEVER ever be healthy or normal love, bill harmed ford's body just to try to get his attention when he ignored his "can we talk?" Note (like how some ex's out there would destroy their ex partners car just to get their attention) and at the same time throwing in some needy, desperate ex bill trying to get stanford back jokes. He does a good job balancing those out lol.
@@Fukuzatsunayume I agree it will most likely never be confirmed outright but I really think this gives a new perpesctive to there relationship as a whole as you stated that would be so awesome to explore! and just the fact hes been pushing hard for the lbtq community to be shown makes me happy. And yes It isnt healthy by any means but also havent seen many unhealthy queer ships before, it wasnt ever healthy but it gives us more variety and even shows people that lbtq relationships can be as toxic.
