I remember back when Shmee went for some laps people always complained about his driving and seeing how he drives here shows how much he has improved. Big props for driving such expensive cars for their intended purposes instead of keeping them as bunch of garage queens. Man is actually living the dream

Im from Canada and always wanted to visit Germany just for the autobahn and the Nürburgring, looks like an amazing experience especially since there's not many tracks and law forgiven roads where I reside haha!
Providing the seat cover is not worth like 20k I'd see if I could warm the tires up with it by tie wrapping it to the rear wheel like a pre drag race and then maybe doing a couple burn outs on it

As an old musclecar guy who loves his American BIG BLOCK V-8's for the torque - but especially for their *sound* - I usually don't care for most of the modern high-tech whiz-bang engines out there. Yes, I'm well aware they're pretty much all better engines than my 50+ year old favorites, but I'm strictly talking *sound* here, so stay with me on my point: The SF90 may very well be the best *sounding* modern engine I've ever heard. I know.....shocker, right? Yes, me the dinosaur just typed that comment. i don't know how much of what we heard on this video might have been "augmented" by the car itself (or by Misha's fine camera equipment), but this thing *sounds* absolutely delicious to these old ears. Just an observation from out here on the valley... - Ed on the Ridge

I expected this to be quick, but that's fucking insane. The way it gets up over three figures (mph) on the shortest of straights is just nuts, not to mention the number of times it was 125mph+. Wow.
It's a road car that beats most everything on the track. Love the road spec. Totally appropriate to put on a seat cover to accommodate someone in blue jeans. Most of us are lucky to see the Ring a very small % of our driving. I would spec it this way and still be impressed with its track prowess.
Has he ever damaged or crashed a car yet? Seems a very careful driver. I know if I even got such a car someone would crash into me or I would lose my licence in 2 weeks .
not sure if it's such a good idea to turn on the engine at the track and directly floor it. Even though oil and coolant might have been at operating temp from before, pisto(ring)s and turbos need a few km to heat up as well.
@@mgcharoudin I just remember a video by MotorenZimmer where JP mentioned that even after a short stop, when oil and coolant are still at 90°C, you need 3-4 km to heat up the pistons to 300°C and turbo even higher. Driving off track to apex and back in electric mode will have cooled down these components significantly.
i see You were going on Qualifying mode, Shmee should try performance mode, i found that Qualifying mode is more for "power" but performance is more for "grip", (like i said - it is my impression) but on high speed corners on autobahn or nurburgring i could feel that car is almost "glued" to the road where on the other hand on Qualifying mode it was more nervous and less stable. I agree, this car also scared me how fast it is. You need a looooot of skills to use 100% of that car on racetrack ;)
@@Nagim-d3z No. Keep it simple. Turbos are heavy and kill that beautiful exhaust sound and a hybrid system is again just an extra 1000lbs to carry around for no good reason.
@@tocsa120ls Neither the 488 Pista nor the 812 GTS have a hybrid system. The 812 GTS has a naturally aspirated 6.5l V12 that sounds way better than the 458. It also weighs just about the same, being slightly heavier. I understand what you’re saying as we’re moving to the hybrid & EV era but Ferrari is still making some amazing cars.
About what Tim said towards electric and hybrids. I don't hate the idea of it but I do hate the general attitude that it'll save the world in a week if we all go electric now, or that the only way to make an electric car is to add an over bearing amount of nanny tech. Like... I just want a fun electric car that doesn't try to act like a space ship. The new electric Dodge Cuda just might be that car for me.
Shmee is like that rich guy at the end of NFS Most Wanted who has an expensive car and went to all the expensive racing schools. It's not that he knows how to drive, but rather that he has been taught how to drive. Would've prefered to see Micha drive.
this has the lmp2 (like oreca or dallara) racecar v8 sound. You can’t replicate that unless you have a powerful drivetrain to go quickly through the gears (or maybe short gears on a less powerful car) and you need a quick crisp gearbox

I can attest to cream colored seats getting a blue tint after driving with jeans all the time. Had a Corolla with light brown/beige cloth seats and they turned blue after a few months. Same thing happened to our Nissan SUV with cream leather seats.
Yes, but "all the time" is much different than on occasion. I had tan leather seats in my daily and got some blue transfer, but proper and timely leather care takes care of it.

i was wondering if it was semi-auto or something, the gear changes looked all the place for me.
In quali mode it is always searching for the gear that will deliver the most usable torque.

Besides the Senna mishap, he did have an incident in the 675LT Spider and had to replace the front bumper.

You would be right if if did not do a lap before and the engine being at operational temp.

The 458 was the last 'proper' Ferrari that I'd buy, no turbos, no hybrid malarkey, just an awesome chassis and engine combo.

The SF90 Stradale is a beast and why people have clocked it doing sub 7 on just track sessions and testing without even doing a full timed run.
