ARMY wrote: The MV is inspired by Hermann Hesse's book "Demian" The 1919 novel tells the story of a boy who fluctuates between the "world of light" and the "world of illusion." This song is part of the album Wings. The entire album is inspired by the novel Demian: The Story of the Youth of Emil Sinclair by Hermann Hess. The novel depicts Sinclair's transition from childhood to adulthood, passing through moments of dreams, lies and destruction. It reflects the transition from innocence to falling into the temptations of adulthood The band members don't even appear as young men, but as children - this is especially evident in the first frames of the video. Suga rides a bike around the museum, Jimin holds a slingshot, Jungkook hangs on a swing and eats a lollipop, Jin appears in the frame with a balloon. However, as the plot develops, children's games change. Instead of the sling that Jimin was holding, J-Hope has a bow and arrow in his hands, Jungkook leaves the swing, Jin releases the balloon. One way or another, the band members are symbolically saying goodbye to their childhood. And then comes another motive - temptation, sin. The dance symbolizes trying not to perceive the evil around them: the boys cover their eyes with their hands, then their lips, then their ears Now other symbols appear in the frame: Jimin's apple refers us to the biblical idea of original sin; Rap Monster drinks absinthe while bathed in clouds of smoke (presumably opium) in a gloomy den-like room. By the way, here's how Rap Monster himself explains the meaning of the Blood, Sweat & Tears video: "The stronger the temptation, the more you think about it and hesitate. This uncertainty is part of the growing up process. The song Blood, Sweat & Tears shows how we think, choose and grow.” If we give in to temptation, then we are not perfect. Recognizing one's own imperfection is a task faced by a teenager during adolescence. A key scene in which the heroes of the video embrace the duality of human nature is the kiss with the statue The angel statue is snow white, but has black wings spread out behind it. This is a symbol of imperfection: each of us carries within us black and white, good and evil, children and adults, sin and its redemption. When Jin touches the statue's lips, he takes a conscious step towards accepting his dual nature. Another frame has the same meaning - a V with carved wings on the back. But accepting evil as an integral part of the real world and oneself is not so easy. A teenager on the brink of puberty tries to close his eyes to the evil around him with childlike naivety. This inner struggle, the struggle with one's own ignorance, comes to the fore in the BTS video Blood, Sweat & Tears. Take a closer look at the dance that the boys perform: sometimes they close their hands, sometimes they open their eyes, ears, mouth, they show their desire to hide the unpleasant aspects of life from themselves. This movement is more clearly shown in the scene with Jin: the band members cover his face with their hands and then remove them - this is a moment of realization and acceptance of life as it is, along with injustice, evil, temptation and imperfection. . The same motif is repeated for the frames It's hard not to notice the sheer amount of artistic references scattered throughout the frames of BTS's Blood, Sweat & Tears video. But not only to the visual: in the first images, both the book and the theater telescope appear. However, the center of interest is still painting and sculpture. The plot of the clip takes place in a museum, and the images become a backdrop for the ongoing events. Jin freezes in front of Pieter Brueghel's The Fall of the Rebellious Angels. Jungkook's room has Herbert Draper's Lament over Icarus, and Pieter Bruegel's The Fall of Icarus is within the jump V. It's not hard to deduce the general arithmetic - the flight of Icarus ending with burnt wings and a fall. The flying and falling scenes are played out by the boys themselves - V jumping from the balcony and Jungkook floating below the ceiling of his room. Although the fate of Icarus was tragic, in the video his story is used more as a warning. Wings can lead to a fall, but they can also lift their owner to unprecedented heights. Suga confirms this idea: "The song expresses man's desire to soar high on his wings, despite all the temptations he is surrounded by in life."
Very well explained. At the time it came out, we were all knee deep in research to figure that all out... and it made it even better. 💜 Actually I should say neck deep... way more than just wading around. We could have drowned. 😅 BU lore is even worse.
That's the interesting thing about BTS - everything has so much hidden meaning that we ARMYs become Sherlock Holmes... This song is based on Herman Hesse's Damien.
This is one of those videos that has a complicated meaning. EVERYTHING means something. The art, music, statues, even the color of the doors. I mean EVERYTHING.
The wings album is pure art. Its based on Demian by Hermann Hesse, a short novel about coming of age. The song is about temptation and how you grow into an adult from being tempted by things in the world. You should check out Wings album. Its really good and it was also the first time bts put solo songs within a bts album.
LET'S GOOO !! this is easily one of my favorite song, and MV. the music video has lore and so many symbolisms. they really put blood, sweat, and tears in each song they create. thanks dudes! 💜
Welcome to the Bangtan Universe where everything in a BTS video has purpose/meaning. The opening scene, Jin is looking at a painting called The Fall of the Rebel Angels, with a dark doorway on the left and a white doorway on the right.
I came to BTS over their English songs but then watched Black Swan after that Blood, Sweat& Tears and then was so impressed that I dived deeper and deeper into their songs. The older ones are pure gold , every song is different type of music every song with very deep meanings behind them and the members are so passionate and great, it made me sometimes speechless…
That's why i'm frustrated when bighit announced english songs but very different genre like we army used to. So people who's non-army usually kind of don't get the vibe why bts has so many fans. For them, bts songs are like dynamite and butter

This song is based on the book "Demien" written by Hermann Hesse, and it's about the temptations of the youth (in fact, the whole album is based on it). RM was reading an excerpt from the book. BTS is also culture!!! hehehe a lot of Armys read the book just because of these songs 🙂
the painting that Jin was looking at in the beginning of the video was about the war of angels, (where Micheal defeated Satan). The black winged statue was a fallen angel. This video is about sin and temptation. Love ur reactions. 💜
Til this day BS&T is my favorite mv. It's full of symbolism, art pieces and it's sooooo sexy! But if you really want to experience an acid trip, watch Blood Sweat & Tears Japanese version...it's something else (but maybe confusing cuz it's related to the Bangtan Universe storyline)

Wings album is a masterpiece dude.... Sou Patrícia Carneiro, tenho 45 anos, a psicóloga e sou army. 🇧🇷💜💜
And translation is immaculate, which is very RARE. Was that through your own working? There was literally nothing lost, and clarity in meaning was shared in both languages 💜.
Clearly, the sexiness gloves came completely OFF in this song, from lyrics to choreography to MV 😂. That said, there are deeper meanings, of course. There’s a cool almost-art-crash-course explanation video from channel Don’t Worry I’m Not Afraid.

Wow! That's an amazing response. True every word and I hope our reactors read it. Spot ON!
And translation is immaculate, which is very RARE. Was that through your own working? There was literally nothing lost, and clarity in meaning was shared in both languages 💜.
@@lauracorker2628Com o BTS nada é por acaso. Eles pensam nos mínimos detalhes.

Stay pressed 💋💋💋💋💋💋💋 v has everything visulas and talents 👌😉
Clearly, the sexiness gloves came completely OFF in this song, from lyrics to choreography to MV 😂. That said, there are deeper meanings, of course. There’s a cool almost-art-crash-course explanation video from channel Don’t Worry I’m Not Afraid.
React to BTS for the first time. Not! I enjoy your reactions but can't stand click bait. 💜
