Or just wait until your forearms naturally are able to handle it. If you destroyed your back and a few days later your hitting it again you may have needed more rest. If your forearms are taking over could also be lack of grip stamina/strength. Let the body grow naturally, instinctively it will tell you what work needs to be done. But yea on occasions to “PRACTICE” pulling movements straps are great. But remember all pulling exercises pull with your elbows back not your hands. Also pull ups will fix this for you as well. As wide grip pull-ups it’s almost impossible to not engage the lats somehow. But if you can’t do any wise grip pull ups, even a few, you shouldn’t be concerned about isolation exercises early in your journey. Not a troll here. Come from a family of bodybuilders myself included. Just on vacation monkeying around on UA-cam sharing advice. All the best everyone stay at it.
I was stupid to not realize this earlier. Back and leg muscles are way stronger than your forearms and get more stronger over time faster than forearms as your lifts get heavier. Straps didn't negatively affect my grip at all and my back has started growing better.
Thank you so much for posting this! Just ordered some straps now. I started lifting weights this year and I’ve been struggling with grip. My trainers never mentioned there was something out there to help me with grips. Thanks again !
For me I wanna move into calisthenics so it’s not purely hypertrophy based, I literally do not have a pair of straps… but I’m gonna get some for my top sets or later on when my forearms get fatigued so I can go till my back burns
i got them super smooth palms genetics so whenever i deadlift with no straps my palms get destroyed. one i forgot my straps and was going for a pr, all i could think of how painful it was for my grip. 😂😂😂
my grip has gotten weaker bc i took some time off the gym, it knocked down my confidence so badly. i’m just hoping i can build up to that same strength again.
I had a cotton glove with spandex and rubber paddings. The funny thing is as time (abt 6 months) went on the quality of the gloves degraded but my grip strength increased.....to the point i no longer needed them. Its a must have if you started recently....coz most of the time your grip strength fails first than the targeted muscle
so, after watching this clip, straps do hold you back with good grip strength for long term. mind-muscle connection isnt established if the grip isnt good with the weight, stuff stuff we all have opinions
I know an experienced power lifter I asked him once about that and he told me he got to 210 squats without a belt or knee sleeves. For beginners training your core is better than just getting used to a belt.
I have genetically speaking very thin arms and legs if it comes to bone structure, so my wrist and my grip strenghts has always been an issue while training. Before i used straps i had a really hard time with deadlifts, since my grip strenght wasnt good enough to hold the bar.
Please stop saying "localized fatigue", it wreaks of bro science . The point you're trying to make is you want the target muscle to be the limiting factor, not your grip, if you care about grip, do grip focused training
Without straps your forearms will get bigger(yes I know if genetics allow). People who over utilize straps always have little forearms. Straps have their purpose. When you going for new PR, up in weight on an exercise or a competitive bodybuilder and need to hit your back or something that day but your grip strength may be fatigued. I’ve had buddies attempt their maxes without straps, raw grip. And it’s slightly pathetic. But again straps have their purpose according to your goals and training desires. Not hating here just venting my opinion. People joke about my popeye forearms but ask how I train them. I don’t. I just let my grip strength adapt and my forearms are like the size of my upper arm. Kinda weird. But again for record I’m not anti straps. Personally for practical reasons I just don’t use. Tried them once on DL and pulled weight I haven’t done in my life. Without the straps couldn’t do it. My experience.
Hey so are my forearms suppose to get tired eventually, because I spend like 20 minutes trying to set them up on a pulldown bar and I honestly can't tell the difference, in fact i think it gets worse because for some reason the straps get loose over time
@@metalbeaver6294 It just takes time, if you have low grip strength, I'd stay away from straps for now. Your forearms will grow with the rest of your body as long as you keep challenging them.
I highly recommend buying gardening gloves. They give you gorilla grip strength. Its very commonly used by calisthenics athletes. Easy to put on and off and very very cheap. Also good for if your calusses tears a lot.
we can’t all just skip over the fact justeen isnt one of the best fitness youtubers out right now
Do you mean is? Or are you shitting on him?
Ok
Facts I learned so much from this man
Not even but ❤️🙏
No ?
Definitely do pulling movements with straps to focus on the pulling muscles, then add direct forearm work
thats what i was thinking, I want to destroy my back but my forearms start doing too much work half way into my workout. This seems like the best way.
@@steven5548no wonder my forearm always dead while i do back work. As a result my back didn't work at all
But then u have to use them every time for progressive overload

I dont use straps on my warmup sets, but i always use them on working sets. Hope that by doing that, i am training my grip at least a bit.
Only thing I don’t use em for is dead’s and pull ups those alone give you a strong grip
I always use straps for pull movements. But I also do 4 sets of wrist curls every week to target forearm hypertrophy

you will if you haven't already. focus on the day to day progress and you'll get there soon champ. remember, anything is better than nothing.
Just do some deadlift pauses and farmer’s carry if you are worried about your grip falling behind.

Les go, new vid!
But what about strap ons
Ty Justin 2
if your grip is a limiting factor THEN TRAIN YOUR GRIP!
If you really care about grip strength work forearms separately and you get the best of both worlds
Keep up good work my lord

It's also easier to walk with crutches, but that doesn't mean you should use them all of the time.
It's only easier to walk with crutches if you have an injury😂 I get what you're saying but that's an awful comparison
That was helpful, can you also cover belts and knee sleeves?

Bro you’re such a beast
I've been having trouble on the eccentric on deadlifts, my thumb will slide off and the bar will sit in my fingers, not my palm.
Thanks I was just about ask the same thing
Justin the type of guy to use straps with his girl so he doesn't get localized fatigue.

if ur only focus is for hypertrophy, it's a must add-on
Exactly and u can just make sure you’re adding in some forearm work each week so you’re still getting stronger in that area
For a lazy one like me just Use the strap for more easy focus and less fatigue grip and forearms
Or just use straps then train forearms individually…
Yes should do that so it can grow big thick vein arms n biceps!😉👍👍💪💪👌✋️🏋♂️
I'm very lazy with my arms, so I only use straps for Deadlifts👍🏻

What straps do you recommend?
Absolutely loving the content rn keep it up

Appreciate you!
Whats the background song?
How do you use figure of 8s but for reverse grip ?
whats the background sound?
What do you do for rear delts, they're lacking on my physique and I need help from the goat
Hell yeah

Is it the same for belt should I use it for every movement that needs a rigid mid section?
Hey JustinMe, any tips or tricks to fight off junk food cravings/ over indulging?😓

Use chalk before using straps, it makes an insanely big difference
Many gyms, including mine, don't allow chalk
Wait does it actually? Even with straps my grip kinda weak, dont ask me why
Chalking the straps can help too

Don’t use straps unless your grip is literally what’s causing you to fail
No bueno.
The people who say “just don’t use straps bro” usually have shit forearms and backs😂
