佛手瓜种瓜的选择和保存

上次采收佛手瓜的时候，也跟大家谈过佛手瓜种瓜的保存方法。但可能说的不够详细，以致后来很多朋友问了好多相关的问题。
今年种植的佛手瓜已经全部采收完了，现在面临一个最重要的问题，就是怎样确保佛手瓜的种瓜不会提前发芽生长。也就是说，现在保留的种瓜要到明年春天才育苗，那么在整个漫长的冬天，如何让种瓜进入冬眠的状态。很多朋友告诉我，他们留的种瓜现在已经开始发芽了，一旦发现这个情况，基本上宣告这个佛手瓜留种失败了。为了确保选用的种瓜，留到明年开春的时候，仍然是一个健康，优质的种瓜，那么种瓜的选择和储存方法必须做到位。

Hi Wendy, I just want to come back to say a big thank you. I put all my "seeds" chayote in a bucket of sand and stored them in my cold cellar throughout the winter. The temperature was around 2 to 8 degrees Celsius. Today, I took them out, and I have 100% success rate! 7 sprouted a bit, and 2 looked almost as fresh as they were picked in October last year.
I am so happy I can share some of the seeds with my friends this year and will definitely share your link with them too. Thank you again, Wendy, for your genius method!

老师,你说你家地下定温度很高在10度以上也不能放,但又说把正个桶放在地下室阴涼的地方、佛手瓜就进入冬眠的状态，在什么温度下能进入冬眠,我一直就不明白到底放在多少度环境冬眠的,我的操作和你完全一样，几个种瓜不到一个月全部烂掉了是什么原因

Yes. some time in the box might still spout. make sure you check them frequently

Use a sharp, small knife and slit about 1 inch into the seed area. This will damage the seed and stop it from sprouting. They can last at least 2 to 3 months.
