The fact that no one has addressed at all that Isaac and Michelle were Mike's kids. No reference, no angry deadbeat rant, (no explanation over them coming and killing everyone in the first place), does Mike even know he has kids?

No, their mother, Mary (the bad one), told them what she thought. She said that Michael had left them because he didn’t want to take care of the children. They didn’t know if their mother was lying or not because when Michael left/died they were babies. Issac believed his mother but Michelle had a gut feeling she was lying. Michelle got into a fight with (bad) Mary so she then threatened Michelle if she didn’t follow their plan. When Michael was reported missing on the news she had done some research and thinking and when over to check the old house he lived in. She saw someone come out with Michael. Leading it into this mess
