- Ever wondered what would happen if someone sang Jessi Colter's "I'm Not Lisa" from the man's viewpoint? Well, Roy accomplished that on this track from his 1976 album "Night Flying", so wonder no more!
Roy did a super job making this song his own...another great performer we lost way too soon.
Have a blessed week,
Jeff
yes,it's a different and interesting spin, from the mans perspective :) i like it.
Unlike today's singers...not affected...not designed to impress...just singing from the heart! No screaming the lungs out and notes all over the place. Love it!
I'd never heard this before. Back when answer songs were popular. Great country voice and, from his picture on the album cover, very handsome.
Thanks for posting this wonderful song. I haven't heard it since the late 1970s when I lived in Dallas and had actually kinda forgotten about it. To me, Roy Drusky's voice was like a mix of Jim Reeves and Ray Price, maybe with a little Eddie Arnold thrown in for spice. ;)
A very different song.........a different, distinct voice really does it justice. I first heard this as an instrumental. How beautiful......... So sad that some of us late comers to this talented man.....will never be able to express to him how much we admired his great voice and stylings.
He was one of the best.
the same hart wrenching reaction to the words of this song as when Jessi Colter sings it. I had always believed it was the combination of Jessi's voice and the words that produced the emotional response now, l have learned that the words are the secret to this beautiful piece.
Love these type of songs...WOOOF...they are known as "ANSWER SONGS" when they are in response to the Original song and often sung by the opposite gender as with this...Just absolutely beautiful....ROY DRUSKY a true FAV of mine...RIP...
Thanks for this great post....

Thank you Roy Drusky for this song.Utterly beautiful and totally lovely. Now I can sing it with my guitar but it wont sound like this did Great Upload,Youve Made My Day with this.Thanks.
I never knew either about this version. Love this song and this version. Good post, best wishes...Davie
What a voice ,so mellow. Wannabe so called stars of today cant match this on thier best day. Too bad we cant get more of this sound today, all we get are rooter tooter rockers that wish they could sing this good but sadley fall way short of anything this fantastic.
I had no idea the song existed from a mans point of view. Good music triva!
Great song!! Never heard this "answer" before.
Wilbur, if someone had told me that Roy would ever record this song, I don't think I would have believed it since it didn't seem like one he would have ever chosen. But how wrong I was. This is the first time I ever heard this rendition, and I am really glad you chose to share it. To me, the beauty of Roy's voice is so evident. Of course, whatever the song, the distinct smoothness and clarity of his voice is ever present. Thanks again. I just can't believe Roy - for the beauty of his voice and the number of years he appeared on the Opry - has not been selected for the Hall of Fame.
Beautiful voice great song.
Thank you

Roy 1930 - 2004... I remember the man's version coming out after the woman's version faded away...
Nice! An answer song done well.
hermoso gracias
Why can't there be good-looking straight men like that today? Manly, but not an asshole. And a good voice would be nice, too. I was born in the wrong era.
He’s out there, Lisa caught him and is keeping him.
Absolutely love it, having an x Lisa is ironic. Great song bub.
Lovely answer to Lisa
