    The Evolution of Automation in HR: A Personal Journey
    Aneel began his speech by sharing personal experiences from his 23-year journey in HR technology, much of it spent outside of India, particularly in the UAE and the US. His career has been centered on implementing cutting-edge technologies to streamline HR processes, increase employee satisfaction, and enhance business efficiency.
    One of his earliest success stories dates back 12 years when he helped a major real estate company in the UAE automate its employee self-service portal for letter generation. In the UAE, employees often need company-authenticated letters for various purposes, such as applying for driving licenses or bank loans. The traditional process was slow and cumbersome, requiring employees to travel to company headquarters and wait for manual signatures. This not only wasted time but also hampered employee productivity.
    Aneel’s team automated the process, allowing employees to generate their letters online, which were then digitally authenticated and accepted by banks across the country. While this might seem like a simple automation today, at the time, it was groundbreaking and significantly improved employee satisfaction. As Aneel noted, after implementing this small automation, employee satisfaction rates soared, and the CEO of the hospitality division of the company praised the initiative for saving valuable time for employees working across various locations.
