What happens when Lin gets the start. This is what I can’t stress enough on how underrated this man is. His play is phenomenal and when he gets the opportunity to show it he doesn’t disappoint. 20 points and 9 dishes. Great game for Lin.

He's the 2nd best player on the team based on Player Efficiency Rating, behind only John Collins. His per 36 min numbers are also incredible, averaging 20 points per 36 min on over 50% shooting.

What are you talking about..Underrated? How do you think he got the name, Linsanity? Have you forgotten that his injuries caused him to be bounced around?

Agree. But he is not underrated. He is deliberately suppressed. I’m a hardcore Lin fan ever since the Linsanity era. Here are a few things to share with you fellow fans:
      1. To be in full rebuilding mode, the front office of the Hawks cares for 2 things only: 1) tank to get Zion (or someone comparable); 2) prop up Trae Young as the franchise player. That’s the realistic concerns for the team. I must agree with them if I only cared about the team’s future. Lin, due to his age, no matter how good he plays, is irrelevant, except his trade value, to the FO. He needs a “win now” team to be fully appreciated.
      2. LP, the head coach, actually knows how to use LIN when he was given the permission-he is better than most previous coaches. (In my opinion, he is even better than Atkinson, as it took months for Lin to suit himself into Atkinson’s system.)
      3. But the Hawks’ FO would not allow LP to get too many wins, or let LIN overshadow Trae Young. The best LP could do is acknowledging Lin being the “stabilizer” & limit his minutes & starting opportunities.
      4. The game against the Raptors was a good, close game, & the final loss is best for them. They showcased their competitiveness while leaving the tanking progress un-hindered. If they accidentally won (& who knows if the team morale could be boosted & get more wins down the stretch), it would be disastrous for the FO because it would greatly reduce their chance to get Zion next season.
      5. Let Trae do the last shot was smart. If he made it, he’d be the hero & it would further justify the FO’s decision to get him rather than Luka. (I think that’s a right decision, as a good PG was what they needed for the long rebuilding process.) If he missed (that’ what happened), he “protected” the tanking progress. If the shot was given to Lin, nothing good would happen for the team no matter he made it or not. (Trae has been another kind of “stabilizer”, for tanking.)
      6. Now, to be fair, I have to say a few words for Trae. He is making improvements in many ways, & much better than in his college time; in defense effort, shooting choices & other NBA experiences. This opportunity to finish a close game in the last few seconds is the necessary experience for a rookie to grow, even he fails it.

jr. Robinson: Sometimes he is underrated and sometimes he js outright hated on. The only bad thing I can say is that he is turnover prone. He has a great field goal percentage...probably averages 15/8/2 a game. Plus, he is a positive, galvanizing presence in games. He’s probably a top 30 guard in the NBA, which is phenomenal considering he almost was never invited to the NBA.

Coincidence that Lin starts for first time this season and almost beats arguably the best team in the east? I think not but I'm biased so not to credible

just because one is biased, doesn't mean they are wrong, so you can give yourself a little more credit. :)
