This puzzle should be called: How to get your quarter back from an Aldi shopping cart.
It’s a grocery store chain. At least in America, they’re known for having innovative ways to cut costs and provide so they can charge less for food. One of these cost cutters is having a lock on the shopping carts that you have to put in a quarter to unlock to discourage people from leaving them in the parking lot when they’re done using them.
Here's how: Return your cart like a civilised man
Noah Tetreault as someone who lives in america, I have never heard of such a place. Are you east coast? Mid west? Down south?
@@agenericusername2488 earth
I’m from the east coast. It looks like they’re more rare the further west you go. I never knew that.
the 1st time you did the rope. impressive. the 2nd time i was keeping an eye on the ends of the red rope and it shows that you pulled it into the box, through the white rope, and out again. (which you were able to do quickly by getting your hands and the red rope in position in the box)
Yup. Saw it too
The first one he just double folded one of the rope and then looped that, the only reason they didn't come undone is because he pulled it from the top and the box did the work for him as he pulled it through
Lol yeah I would hope he meant to show that it was extremely obvious.

Yeah, the second he did that, and I heard rattling, I was 100% sure he broke the puzzle.

@@thegodofallakira6349 Hes self promoting with an ancient video? Even without the video, its easy to see Chris have one end of the red rope slide into the box when he mentions the spectators. Its apparent (obviously, with magic/illusions) that its based on how you twist and loop them, not the ends.
The video just proves THAT point, as well as confirming why Chris had one slip into the box. Being presented with evidence/a solution and your responses are, "no", and yours, the "dont be a pompous bitch"

Through the the box
Nice slight of hand but it’s hard when you’re being filmed
@Viper bnh In the first trick, you don't need to pull an end of the rope into the box (that's only required in the second trick - the second trick uses the first trick to make you believe that the ends of the rope never enter the box).
The first one is done in this way. Inside the box, he passs one rope
over the other (like 2 intersecting "U"s) - there will be 2 crossings (2
places where the ropes cross each other). Now, he pulls one crossing
through the hole, and bends the ropes in such a way that the crossing
looks like the ropes are linked (in the video, he struggles a bit to
bend them just right). This visible "link" outside the hole has a
corresponding "unlink" inside the box (at the point where the second
crossing of the "U"s occur). You can see the ropes are entangled inside
the box as he brings the "linked" crossing out of the hole the first time. Now, as he pulls
the outside visible linked crossing completely out through the holes,
the other "unlinked" (or rather opposite linked) crossing inside the
box comes undone as the ends of the ropes are pulled through. The ropes
don't actually get "linked" until he pulls the ropes out through the hole
(the pulling of the rope through the holes erases the "unlink" crossing
as the ends are pulled through - there is some friction involved in
this, and that's the reason he holds down the hole cap.
He uses the first trick to convince the audience that no sleight of hand
is involved - and indeed there is no sleight of hand in it. But the
second one is really impossible without the sleight of hand.
@@nagrajan777 damn, breaker of the magicians code much? But still that is damn impressive that you know all that.

0:48 - I'll admit I wasn't expecting you to pull the 2 strings fully through at the end, so that finisher was a cool little added touch to the trick that subverts most people's initial thought that it's probably just 2 short duplicate strings that you're slightly exposing through the top. I like that it did give me a brief moment of being stumped, but my original theory is most likely correct I just didn't know the top duplicate strings needed to be full length as well. I'm pretty confident that the box's internal mechanism must be a very light weight roller or vertical spiral screw type setup on a spindle to where it's easy to spin forward and backwards in both directions with very little force. The two bottom strings come through the bottom and loop around pegs or little hooks so the bottom strings get drawn in or pushed back out a bit as the screw or roller spins either direction, and the top of the roller has the two top duplicate strings pre-wrapped around it so the roller or screw rotates based on you pulling the top strings out or letting them fall slightly back in. Pretty cool, probably took a bit of engineering and trial and error to get the roller the right diameter and everything just right so whatever length of the top strings you pull out the bottom ones are then drawn in at the same rate and vice versa. That gives you that perfectly synched up combined motion of the top pair of strings to the bottom pair of strings for the illusion that it's all the same single string running up through each side of the whole device. Very cool.
I will not read all this😂
This is absolutely longer than the video
There aren't any duplicate strings, or a mechanism. It's really a very simple trick. You intertwine the inner strand of the two ropes twice, and then you seperate the tangle in the middle while hiding it in the box. The second time he did it involved sleight of hand on the red rope by pulling the tangle out, which you can see when the rope goes into the box for a second.
Oh my god were you writing an essay there?!
I’m just gonna pretend like I know what your talking about…
U can see his sleight of hand when he threads the rope just as he grabs red one its smooth but to the trained eye u can see
I see what you mean, you really have to be watching carefully to see it

I was thinking the same things as him as he was solving it (although I was also thinking about using the ball, which he managed to not do). I do think it's a bit easy for experts/experienced people, but still a neat puzzle that could stump some people right at the start.
Hey Chris. Thank you so much for putting small magic tricks at the beginning of your puzzle videos. Even though it's been several years since I've touched a gimmick or a deck of cards, those snippets at the start of some of your puzzle videos have gotten me back into magic, and man have I missed it! Exterioris-vallem yeah, the second one is pretty easy to spot, but I’ve watched the first one a half-dozen times and still haven’t seen it.
CPG SKATES I think on the first one there’s 2 sets of ropes and he lightly ties a slip knot the the already linked ropes Inside. As he pulls the already linked ropes through the top holes he also holds the top which makes the slipknot come undone on the way out leave the second pair of ropes hidden in the box

I forgot you do magic 😂 only your puzzles have been in my feed.
I saw a "free the coin" puzzle before which looked similar, only the trick was you had to figure out that the big coin you saw was actually not able to be freed (without tearing the puzzle apart). Eventually you figure out that after getting the bottom piece off & freeing the tools, there can be no more progress made on the top no matter which tools you try or what combination. The next step was to actually only use 2 of the freed tools on the bottom piece, which then popped open a small hidden door in it. Shake gently & out comes a tiny coin that's one of those mini copies of real coins!

and for the seccond one, i saw the red end slide for a very short moment into the box, as you talked about people, that should hold the ends.

I used to go to a magic club, and one person brought one of these along. It was both the best box trick and the best rope trick I had ever seen. I think I was told how it was done, but I have completely forgotten. So, as a magician I'm proud to finally say these words again... "It must be magic!"
Everyone else: yeah I know how it worked 🙃
You wrap the inner strands around each other, pull them apart a bit, and then detangle with your finger or w/e while hiding it via the box.
Basically when the ends of the ropes go into the box, he's pulling the tangle out so that it looks like they've been straight the entire time.
The second attempt is where you can see him manually detangle by pulling the tangle out via the red rope, which is why it goes back into the box when he pulls on it. It's being wrapped around the white rope and then coming back out, like a pulley action almost. I think he meant to reverse the "right side, left side" distraction so you looked to *his* left while he pulled the right side rope, but who knows.
"Im gonna overprove everything in this video"
