Great content and useful information, Scott. Thank you!
Love it - Winter and construction season. Interesting things to learn!
Great video Scott, I was born in Saskatoon but moved when I was very young!!
Thanks for putting this together!
Enjoyed learning more about Saskatoon. Thank you!
Raymond Fernandez Realtor you’re welcome
I changed my mind just 2 days ago about immigration to Saskatoon after knowing about its winter, but honestly, after watching your video, I feel I started to love the place. You seem to love your city so much that you transferred the feeling to me :)
Scared of winter but I'll take my chances 😉💪✌
The first winter can be a little tough to get use to it but trust me we have a very large immigrant population and know one has dies yet haha. Truthfully there is something magical about winter.
@@ScottZieglerSaskatoon at least I can taste the feeling of Christmas as we see it in movies since we never have snow here in Dubai.. thank you..really 💐
@@ScottZieglerSaskatoon I love cold winters
Love the name! Now, say that three times fast in a row!! "Saskatoon, Saskatchewan". Nice video, Scott! Keep making more. :)
Very informative on both sides. Excellent video topic
Thank you
Saskatooooooon!!!!!! Saskatoon is seriously in my top 10 places I want to visit. Thank you for sharing all of this with us!
Come during the summer ;)
This is helpful. Thanks for the honest info.
Thanks for watching
good perceptions, and positive way of explanation. good job
Thank you.
Thanks alot for the trouble taken by u and the information u gave us enjoyed knowing it
Thanks for watching!
Always important to be honest. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Very nice presentation. If I move to this city, and plan to stay there, I will reach out to you. You have a very positive vibe 🙏
thank you for the kind words
nice video Scott!! i will be immigrating to Saskatoon soon hopefully by June. My biggest fear is the weather. especially that am based and will be coming from the UAE. however its lovely to know that the warmth of Saskatoon's people would compensate =)
1000's of immigrants have survived before you lol. You'll be fine in the winter. Look me up once you arrive!
ihab donot worry i was there in Nov and dec its extremely cold but in summer its very nice :) i loved the city and people are very decent and nice to new immigrants. Go on and see you there i will be there at October :)
@@ScottZieglerSaskatoon I am also planning to immigrate soon to Saskatoon from Dubai. The problem is that I am coming alone...scared to death of winter eheheheh!
Hi i am from UAE too. Can you advise which agent you have used for immigration ???
Great video. I learned so much about Saskatoon from it. It sounds like a nice city. I don't mind getting "fat" off food trucks as a foodie. :)
Thank you for info😇
Thank you for watching
Keep up the great work Scott 👍
Thank you so much. New video coming this week.

Hello, thanks for your video! I'm looking forward to studying my Masters degree in Saskatoon (food science). Canada looks like a great country!
Welcome! Canada is great and Saskatoon is the best. You will love it here.
Great Video!
Thanks Jer.
It’s cold there for sure - but the sunshine makes up for it. Ontario winters are dull and dreary and feel sooooo long.
Funny you commented today. -40 but big bright blue sky. It’s a dry cold lol.
@@ScottZieglerSaskatoon I remembered those days, when is minus 20, it is like "spring is just a few days away" :)
Hi! Scott. I have been watching your videos for a while and I really like your sense of humor.
I have a question, how about safety? Whats the crime rate and which areas are safe and not safe? Do you mind making a video on that too!
Great idea for a video. Saskatoon is very safe. If you go looking for trouble you will find it but you can be anywhere at anytime and feel safe.
Scott nice video
I think this is awesome.... Looking forward to starting my graduate studies in Saskatoon
Thanks Enam. Welcome to Saskatoon!
I can still remember the Dominion grocery store in the Midtown Plaza, and there was an OK Economy store on 3rd Avenue... but that's a long time ago. On the other hand, here in Vancouver, where I've lived since 1983, there are many downtown grocery stores, but just one gas station left. Anyway, I often miss my hometown of Saskatoon. Great memories... and a great city!!!
Great memories. Well before my time lol. This is definitely a work in progress in Saskatoon and I hope someday soon they get it figured out. With the commute from the suburbs downtown lots of people choose not to live downtown. But I think it could be a vibe replace if we could make some changes
Thank you for the explanation
Thank you for watching
If a 16 minute commute is a negative thing, that's not bad at all! Sounds like a beautiful, fun place overall.
it is thank you
Hopefully I will be moving there next year, will definitely get in touch. I figure it's better to start apartment shopping early.
Feels like a really honest review of the place, I'd love to do trans-Canada by railway & visit here.
Em Jackson thank you. Saskatoon like everywhere has its pros and cons but it really is a stereotypical prairie city. Friendly, welcoming, fun and ... well a little cold 😊
So thanks very much, for the help. Amazing people.
Hi Scott! thanks for this video! Please, can you talk about universities and colleges in Saskatoon?
It’s on my list 😊. Thank for watching
Thanks Mr Scott! I cant wait till I leave Rio de Janeiro to move to Saskatoon.
Cant wait till you arrive.
Scott Ziegler when you talked about how nice and lovely you the people of Saskatoon are I smiled and felt so much Joy in my heart cos that's how the whole world should be. Love is all that matters!
I agree
Landing there in 4 weeks. Can't wait 😊
Oh nice! Let me know when you arrive and how you like it. August and September the weather is so beautiful.
Hello, are you in saskatoon !? What about the weather !?
How is it man?
Thanks Scott! Go Riders!
They just got knocked out of the playoffs!
Great intro that you have given about your City I am planning to move to this amazing place..
May I?
Respected Scott....
Let me be the first one to welcome you when you arrive.
Saskatoon....gesundheit sir! Nice overview of the area
Thank you!
Great video Scott. Glad that you shared the positives as well :) .. But are there IT jobs in Saskatoon ? People in almost every social platform say that there are no jobs and you have to find some survival job.. :(
There might not be as many IT jobs as say Vancouver or Toronto but its also a fraction of the cost to live here. We do have several large firms here that require your skills.
@@ScottZieglerSaskatoon Thanks for the reply. I am planning to migrate to Saskatoon next year. Hopefully ll find something good :)
You’re rocking it on youtube
hay scott very nice video can you tell us more about opening private businesses
You would be better to speak to an accountant but what I can say is Saskatoon is full of entrepenures so I know you'll be successful here!
construction season is a rough one to get through. The City of Bridges - a beautiful place to watch sunsets. People, jobs, and food to get you fat -- great place to live!
Thanks John
Traffic can be a pain. I love to find the right times to move around. If its possible.
100% im just glad i dont have a 9-5 i have to commute in.
Planning to move there but have no idea about Saskatoon. Which part do u suggest for a family to settle in? Nice video btw, thank you.
Depends. Renting vs buying. School aged children’s or not. It’s probably easier to tell you the areas not to live in. There are a few core west side neighbourhoods that are not as desirable. If you can settle outside them I would. Give me a call if you’d like to chat in a bit more detail. I can help you with a purchase or point you in the right direction for rental if you prefer. I’m happy to help in anyway I can. Thanks for the message. Scott
Great Info! WLS
Thanks!
Nice video Scott, I am not able to decide between Regina and Saskatoon, appreciate your comment
Honestly both are great cities and share many of the same qualities. Personally I think Saskatoon has a little more to offer as far as culture and employment opportunities.
Thanks a lot brother...
This has inspired me and I'm on my way to Saskatchewan
Welcome.
Hi Scott, reaching out to you to understand the options for rental housing for a family of 4, I will be migrating to SK by NOV this year.
Couple options. I work with a great rent to own company if you think you might want to buy instead or rent. If not then Facebook marketplace is your best bet. You can also try www.kijiji.ca or google and call saskatoon property management companies. Text mark at +1 (306) 717-6275 he runs a property management company.
Hello! Great video! I would like to know if pests in Saskatoon are a common thing. I intend to immigrate to Canada and pests are really a down for me... sorry if I sound rude, and thank you for the information!
Irene Távora pets are populate all across Canada. But if you don’t want to own one they will not become a problem for you.
Oh you said PESTS, like bugs ect. We have mosquitos in the summer, but they are not too bad. Thats about it. We do not have a very bad pest problem.
Scott Ziegler thank you!!
I wish we had more food trucks in my area, Virginia Beach!
They are so good!
You crack me up with the food section of the video.
I like to eat!!
I love Saskatoon... Hello from Hongcouver!!
Haha. My wife’s family all lives by you. We love to visit but Saskatoon is home!
I guess BC is not in western canada as my property taxes are fairly low as on the coast we dont have the snow clearing and yearly road repair prairie cities have. Did I mention if you live in your own home you can claim a home owner grant approx 4-500 dollars. Also 65+ get about $900 off and over 55 or 60 you can defer your property taxes till you sell your home or die. Ps its dec 16 and not a snow flake to be seen yet..
Way to go Andy!
Sounds like a great place overall
Amy Hayslett Realtor it really is.
I want to ask one thing that in sasketchwan there are tornados I think as I have also see in some of the videos of other channels that they say there are 12 to 15 tornados in a year in this province so how the life is settled and everything get settled after these many natural disasters ??? Do reply as we are shifting there. btw your video is really nice ad informative !
I’ve lived here my entire life and can tell you we do no have 10-15 tornadoes a year. We do have 1-2 and 99% of the time they are in a farmers field and the most damage they do is to a grain bin. I dont believe there has ever been a tornado hit a major city and Saskatchewan ever. In fact the last tornado to do any damage to a major Canadian city was in Edmonton 30 years ago. You have zero to worry about due to natural disasters.
@@ScottZieglerSaskatoon thank you so much for such nice info and elaborated one.
We have traffic here also in Charlotte, NC.
Glad we dont commute every morning
Love the video.
I would like to move to Saskatchewan, do you know any employer who is willing to recruit from outside Canada?
I know that is off topic but I had to try 😀.
Thank you for your videos ☺️
I am not aware specifically of any employers but I’m sure a google search would point you in the right direction.
Thank you for your kind words.
Thank you Scott 😌
I am considering relocating to Saskatoon for work and two of my biggest concerns are the weather and the community.
I currently reside in Nigeria and I love the community here. Do you think its a close nitted group over there? Are there a lot of chill spots? Hows the gym like?
Also for somebody who comes from a predominantly hot weather for over 27 years, do you think I'd survive winter in Saskatoon?
There is a large Nigerian community here. But community is what you make it. No one has dies from the cold yet. You have to ask yourself if the opportunity out weighs the obstacles
@@ScottZieglerSaskatoon
I gotta put a pro & con list together
Thank you Scott.
Avoid circle drive and idwyld pot holes are deadly.
They're the same ones I hit in 89
Slowly but surely the city seems to be doing a better job with the roads.
I Like Saskatoon Saskachewan Place Promise . GODBLESS All
Great...

Very nice video ....go ahead with your videos.. I am living in Saudi Arabia....but native country is India....sir do you know about Parkland college?
My daughter is coming to next intake....Is there partime jobs available?
She has 3 years working experience...She decided to do one post graduation course in Canada...How is the parkland college Yorktown?
Kindly send me reply.
I am not familiar with Parkland but Yorkton is a nice small town full of friendly people. She will be safe and happy there.
thank you
Well it has got the highest crime rate in canada. I personally think is worth mentioning.
Im coming to study so how is the safety around the university ?
travos k the crime stats are skewed because lots of the crime is located in one area and lots of it is domestic which only affects the people involved. The university and area are extremely safe. In fact unless your walking down a dark alley in the middle of the night in the bad part of town you will find everywhere in SASKATOON safe. Welcome to Saskatoon you’ll love it here.
Hi scott, please advice how to get job in Saskatoon and share the best web link for foreign students to find the job
www.kijiji.ca
I think I need to visit Saskatoon!
NoraLovesBendHomes I think I need to visit Oregon. Welcome anytime!
Hi! I would like to know which city is colder, Saskatoon or Regina?
It’s a statistical tie. The weather is virtually the same in both cities
I don't drink coffe but i love cities without traffic
Scott! You encouraged to ask questions or to reach out to you with any concern about moving to your city. So, I do have a serious question. There are a lot of comments on You tube saying that Saskatoon is one of "crime ridden" cities in Canada with many gangster neighbourhoods to avoid. You are a real estate professional, who (and I perfectly understand that) is interested in attracting people to the city, what would be your thruthful opinion about that?
(I am from Vancouver, and we are exploring options to move to a more affordable city)
Another question. Are there enough jobs in retail, grocery, customer service? Are those kind of jobs in the city open to newcomers or only for insiders/"who you know" type jobs?
Oh, and the last question. What is an average price range for renting 1 or 2 bdr apt in Saskatoon?
Thank you so much!
Easy questions first. Typical rent will be $900-$1200 (2 bedroom utilities incl) $1200-$1500 (3 bedroom utilities incl). There are lots of the type of jobs you asked about and no Saskatoon is not small enough to have to be "connected" to find work. It is a very diverse city with lots of opportunity for every and anyone. Finding employment will be easy.
The crime question. Short answer don't believe everything you read. Saskatoon has about 275,000 people. 99% of the major crime is isolated to family hurting family ect. You have a greater chance of being struck and killed by lighting than you do even getting mugged anywhere in Saskatoon. Obviously there are areas that you can find trouble in if you're looking for it. As a general rule those violent type of crimes will not affect you.
Petty crime like your car getting broke into ect would be no different than anywhere else.
Overall Saskatoon is extremely safe on a day by day basis. Its a friendly and welcoming city with lots to do. As the video mentions it is a younger city with lots of opportunity and the cost of living is exponentially cheaper than Vancouver. If you decide to relocate here please let me know. Your first coffee is on me :)
@@ScottZieglerSaskatoon Thank you so much indeed, for your honest and detailed answer!
Your response pretty much addressed my main concerns.
You are right on, and what you said about the crime areas in Sask.actually equally applies to Vancouver, Vancouver has exactly same issues and certain areas are considered undesirable, however as you correctly pointed out, if one does not go looking for trouble, he/she will never attract it.
In 20 years that i lived in Vancouver I did not have any problems walking or commuting late in any area.. 😁
All the other info you gave here is most helpful, thank you so much,
I will certainly contact you and let you know if we make up our mind to move to your city , your advice is most appreciated! 😁👏👍👋
yOU MISSED one, Saskatoon has a good radio station,Ckom put on by Brent Loucks
Agreed but im more of a John Gormley fan :)
Hi

"You can walk down any street, at any time of the day in Saskatoon, and someone is gonna smile and say hi to you."
Depending on which street, they may follow up "Hi," with "Give me your wallet."
Ask me how I know.
How do you know? lol. I suppose it can happen anywhere at anytime in any city but compared to other larger prairie or Canadian city's its far less likely to happen here!
@@ScottZieglerSaskatoon I got mugged twice in one week, both times on Broadway before the sun was even down. Sure, other places might be worse, but that doesn't make Saskatoon great, ha ha! Plenty more stories where that came from.
@@ScottZieglerSaskatoon I grew up in Saskatoon, and love the city. Although I have lived out east for 30 years, the 30 years I lived in Saskatoon, I WAS NEVER a victim of crime once! Good video Scott! Lets get some people moving to Sask!

@7:50 You mean even in dwtn S'toon, a stranger will smile and say hi to you? That's cool! The only dwtn city in Canada that I've been that smiled and said hello is in Charlottetown. Well there are other Canadian cities too, but they weren't genuinely friendly. They were either hookers or drug dealers.

But I have this doubt in my mind about the job opportunities in Mechanical Engineering field in Saskatchewan. What do you suggest? Should I go for it or should I use my dad’s hard earned money somewhere else? Kindly tell me whatever you know about it. 😄
I can’t advise you on opportunities. What I would suggest is do your due diligence to be sure there will be an opportunity for you. The short answer is go for it!

What side you can recommend for Jobs at Saskatoon??? (Or Saskatchewan all) thanks
There are lots of jobs here.
2:23 Which is the porcent of property taxes you will pay ?
For example a house by 300k ?
It’s not based on a percentage. The city has some weird way to calculate it. On 300k likely 2200-2400/year
@@ScottZieglerSaskatoon
Thank you, it's a little bit expensive like 200 dollars monthly, but if all that money you will see reinvest in good roads, clean parks and a better infraestructure in all the city, I think that worth It.
I would have to say safety is one of my favourite things in ToonTown. Nothing quite as reassuring as an evening stroll in Alphabet City 😉
Stop Kafirophobia I’ve spent many a summer evening biking around our great west side and core neighbourhoods and never once had an issue. If you go looking for trouble you’ll find it. If your not looking you won’t see any. 😊

if theirs one thing i don't like about Saskatoon is the stigma of the west end, i live a block away from 33rd and haven't had a problem, plus everyone on my block i friendly
💯 I couldn’t agree more. I tell clients all the time the east vs west is so wrong. Yes the odd pocket on the west is not the best but generally some amazing people there. Thanks for your comment.

The immigration process is long and complex. I’d start with a google search but from there am unqualified to help.
Are there job opportunities in Art/Culture in Saskatoon?
Saskatoon has a fairly vibrant art and culture scene. I don’t think you would have a hard time finding meaningful employment here!
