That major prize round makes me glad social media wasn't a thing back in 2000. And for it to happen *less than a month* after the "Engraver" incident.....
@@7120Magnum yes they did a story with Sonya on Today Tonight after a controversial decision that cost her the Proton but the footage is not on UA-cam I believe Channel Seven has it in it’s archives.
So they couldn’t pay off Sonja for ‘ENGRAVER’ when she clearly started solving before the buzzer, but this guy only says the first word of a puzzle and wins? That’s ridiculous!
The only way i could possibly defend that major prize round is that they were added car wedges to the golden wheel until it was won (another move i don't really approve of), so that pretty much *guaranteed* a car win during this run of shows. I remember during September/October 1997 they hadn't given away any cars for at least 5 months and they kept adding car wedges to the golden wheel to guarantee a car win, IIRC they were up to about 10 or 11 when it finally happened!!
@@jamesharding322 and they also did the same thing in 2008 with Million Dollar Wheel Of Fortune they did the same thing with the $200,000 wedge it got up to 11 until Carl Young won $200,000 they started with 2 Car wedges and they added a another Car wedge until it was won and it was won on Friday June 20th 2008 and as it turned out the last normal episode they did Celebrity Week the next week.
Awesomeness video please do more thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

If this took place now there would be massive backlash on social media.
The “Engraver” incident did make that night’s Today Tonight however.

What a finish with Rob winning the Proton on the buzzer it was extremely close and boy the celebration from Rob when he won the car was unbelievable.
I thought that Toyota are the major car company and it's also used for a line of sewing machines in Australia.
Right on the buzzer
Regardless, he didn't actually solve the puzzle, he just mumbled the first word!
A very controversial finish to Wheel Of Fortune.

13:49 what’s your decision?

Also the buzzer went off before he said the word Boston.
@@lachlanpattersongameshows I know. It makes you think, who Rob was trying to run away from? 😄
@@glennrollinson3806 Rob the contestant was very excited that he won the Proton and Rob Elliott got out of the celebration.
@@lachlanpattersongameshows It makes me wonder if they were trying to over-compensate for the "Engraver" incident.....
@@glennrollinson3806 I think he was just making room for Rob's family to come down and congratulate him.
13:49 Was not even a solve.
To be honest I heard the buzzer before he said the word Boston a very controversial finish but in the end Rob wins the Proton.
@@lachlanpattersongameshows He didn’t even finish the puzzle though! They literally gave it to him for “finally” getting the first word!
@@7120Magnum it was the wrong decision by the judges.
