I finally just went today to Plato's with two bags! Lots of newer American Eagle., lucky brand, Old Navy, less substantial free people., , ECT. I asked when I was dropping off the clothes.f I could get an itemized receipt and he said we'll let you look at it but you can't take it with you! They texted me like in 40 minutes that my items were ready and when I went in they took nothing! They said style and wear but none of the items I had have any flaws! And we're talking 2000 to 2022! clothes. A bit discouraged, I drove over to Clothes Mentor . Thankfully they took half of my items! And the price averaged out per item. $2.88 but I forgot to ask them if they do a itemized receipt 🤦♀️ They left behind the free people skirt, lucky brand jeans and Old Navy stuff and a few other things I threw in to see if they would take them. Anyway, I have some more money to go back to the bins! I love vintage so that's what I hope to find! I love what you found at the thrift store! 😊
Yeah, those places want newer stuff (within the last 2-3 yrs), and stuff that is still trendy. I brought a like new pair of AG jeans with a nice flair bottom, and they didn't want them because of the wash(color). To me they look like a nice wash, nothing "dated" just a mid-dark denim. Also weren't into buying lace, or sheer items (even tho trendy), saying they can't move them. Frustrating- grrr!
Oh no! That has happened to me before, too. I was convinced they just didn't even go through a single item I brought in and was so disappointed, and embarrassed, that I never went back to that location. 😒 that's wild they told you they were talking clothes from 2000 - current. Mine absolutely will not accept anything that has a date older than 2 years. I don't care if it would sell in 2 seconds. The 2 year cut-off rule rules our local stores. I'm glad CM came through for you, and you didn't give up. My platos won't buy Lucky Brand anything from me either, weird, right? You are right! Got some more $ to bins shop with! 🛍✨️

I just recently dropped stuff off at Plato's and Style Encore and they did not give the itemized receipt. Also, the things I took to Style Encore were alot of Zyia Active sweaters and leggings which they sell in their store for $24-$28 a piece and they literally only gave me $5 per item. They took 11 items and only gave $60. I also had a few Lululemon items in there that they took. I thought they claimed to give 40% - 50% of what they were going to sell it for but that has never been the case for me. 🤔 That really is highway robbery!
The trade in at consignment stores is usually around 50%, but cash wise the best I've seen is 1/2 of the 1/2 they offer for trade. So if they mark it at $20, expect $4-5. BTW you mathed incorrectly, they paid you $5.45 ish per item.
Will your Platos let you look at the Itemized receipt?! That does sound a bit concerning... unfortunately, I can't speak for Style Encore as we don't have one near us. These BST stores definitely aren't a way to make a living. They don't pay much for most brands/items. It's just the way I like to recoup the $ I've spent on my inventory.

They will let you look at the one with no dollar amounts. I have never understood that. I believe they used to give it out when they first opened.
