My sister-in-law raised orphaned wombats many years ago. When she released one back into the wild, he made his way back and dug a burrow under the foundations of her old wooden farm house! I love our unique wildlife in Australia. As a child we raised orphaned wallabies; kangaroos; potoroos; brush and ringtail possums. A great childhood 🦘🦘 ❤

I love Australian wildlife. They're so unique and amazing.❤
yeah, a lot of people do and they are constantly trying to illegally smuggle them out of Australia. Drives me crazy. Birds and reptiles especially but others too like Kangaroos and wombats. I have seen a video here on youtube with a man in America who has a Kangaroo as a pet in his home. Australians are not even supposed to have them as pets (though many do).

@@iminyourhouse68420 Our wildlife is actually pretty harmless compared to other continents, we don't have wolves big cats of every description and bears trying to eat us as well as moose bison elk and everything else that can easily ruin a perfectly good day. We only have a few snakes and spiders that are more scared of us than we are of them. Crocks will only attack someone not using common sense or pushing their luck and sharks only bite by mistake. The biggest killers in Australia are European honey bees.
@@JasonBlack66 , I don't know anyone who has kangaroos or wombats as pets. Roos are especially vicious AF. Came across an injured one last week and had to call WIRES to sort out the poor thing!

Tonka couldn’t be more beautiful! Nor could his human mom’s care for him. As principled and practical as one must be in gradually raising him to be independent in the wild, he will always be yours and you’ll always be his. Yes it’s a privilege to get to do this but it’s also an incredible commitment to do it right. Thank you for sharing his story.

Realy love the understanding and experience being shown here. These aren't pets. Its a journey to get this little guy independent and back into the wild. Big respect Lindy for the commitment.
It must be incredibly difficult to let go once it's time, each release would break my heart. I do not believe that the wombat will cease to love her though, animals are not so dismissive, they have far more emotional range and depth than we once though. He will be independent but he will know who raised him.

are you knowledgeable about wombats? I ask because I have hard they are very unfriendly as adults which is why they don't recommend getting one as pets because they get that way even to their owners. I am no expert. Just repeating what I read/saw at some point.

True however she is also putting milk in her coffee in this video. Have you seen what is done to mother cows and their newborns in the dairy industry? The newborn will have thier placenta cut open and their throats slit, before they are even born. The mother is repeatedly raped by a farmer putting his arm inside her and once she is three years into the industry and has been raped and abused so many times she can no longer stand, she is lifter with a tractor with its spikes and brought to a kill floor. So while this woman is nice to this cute little animal wombat, she is also paying others to do horrific slaughter and abuse to other innocent animals.

@@user-zv7lm8uk7h Some people are so use to drinking milk that they don’t realize there’s lots of other alternatives, like soy milk, almond milk, oatmeal milk etc. Recently I decided to stop eating all dairy products and I feel so much better. I think a large number of people are starting to stay away from dairy products. A lot are also becoming vegan.

We're all sons & daughters of the earth, and you have no idea how much it warms my heart to see us coming together, despite all the evil & animosity in the world today.
It was Mothers' Day here in the U.S. yesterday. I wonder if anyone celebrates the heroic women (like this one) who care for, feed, carry, & love wild orphaned baby animals around the clock, day & night, for weeks , months, and sometimes-as with this little wombat-more than a year. They commit themselves to raise little creatures into big adults capable of living in the wild, who they may never see again. This woman said "he thinks I'm his Mum." And he's right. We who love animals salute you! You & your sisters & brothers around the world are the most unsung hero-moms (yes, guys who do this kind of rescue work serve as moms too) in the world! We are lucky to have you among us! ❤️

I cannot imagine this Precious BLESSING "not liking" his human Mother. He will become independent and be able to live a full wild life because of the kindness of humane beings but in his heart he will always love the woman who raised him and she will always cherish him. Thank You to the person who checked the pouch of this BLESSING's Mother and pulled him out. And Thank You to the RESCUE ANGELS who save these Precious Gems and give them back their lives.
