      @@AridZine I'm especially interested in knowing about the lights you have success with. I'm very much on the fence on whether or not to create a cacti section in my plant area, because I'm worried that everything will etiolate terribly in my northern hemisphere light. My poor pickle cactus is :(

    The sun has been so scorching where im at lately, and a couple of my lovely's got a little burnt yesterday. Theyre still fine, but this may send them into dormancy early, robbing me of a few more solid growth weeks of growth season. Winter looms here... and so does dormancy.

    • @AridZine
      @AridZine  Місяць тому +2

      Ah yes the slow descent into dormancy. Nothing quite as terrifying as the shoulder seasons - change is hard! 😅

    That soil mix looks like it has a lot more organics than I've seen in your previous videos and the soil video...🤔🤔

    • @AridZine
      @AridZine  Місяць тому +3

      Same 80/20 mineral to organics ratio as always. The mix might appear darker (and therefore more organic) because it’s moist? Just a guess.

    Great video, Michael. I have about 50 Euphorbia, and I spray any damage with pH water and rinse that area off. As you know, this controls the visual damage. That is a good point about it helping heal the plant root. What do you do if the damage is visible? I enjoy your chats.

    • @AridZine
      @AridZine  Місяць тому +2

      With visible damage, I’ll usually just try to trim it back to something aesthetically pleasing and then let it callous over.

      What’ve you got? I love cacti and stapeliads, but the sheer variety of different Euphorbia really has me hooked.

    It’s always fun to see how other planties repot stuff. Those seedlings looked great, do you use only your collected seed or do you buy or swap seeds? 🌱

    • @AridZine
      @AridZine  Місяць тому +1

      Oh I buy a silly amount of seeds every year… but gradually my seedlings are reaching maturity and I’m producing more and more of my own seeds.

    • @AridZine
      @AridZine  Місяць тому +1

      I don’t, mostly because I don’t have enough space for them, but they’re both beautiful species.

      @@AridZine You have the most amazing channel on You Tube! I’ve never seen anything like it! Just wondering where you get your seeds from? I used to own a Cactus and Succulent Nursery in Petaluma California with my late husband. You are very fortunate to have a Mediterranean climate unlike the San Francisco Bay Area that can get quite cold and foggy 🌫️. Looking forward to many more of your videos 🙏

  • @Malprincess

    Is it easier to separate the seedlings when the roots are dry or moist?

    • @AridZine
      @AridZine  Місяць тому +2

      Really depends on the type of plant. Euphorbias like these ones have thicker and fewer roots, so it doesn’t make much of a difference. Cacti, on the other hand, have lots and lots of finer roots… so dry soil makes it a lot easier.
