I looked at an old CT of the chest report which mentioned Hounsfield units regarding lesions found on both kidneys and did not understand its great importance at the time. That was over 2 1/2 years ago. Now I suddenly understand that I'm in trouble because of multiple kidney cysts. But I'm still quite a ways from having the kidneys shut down and not function.

Are kidney cysts found incidentally on an MRCP usually benign? I am 53 and for the past 5 years have been having annual MRCPs to monitor a 5mm Side Branch IPMN. So far, my IPMN remains stable without worrisome features. However, in 2018, the radiologist noticed several bilateral kidney cysts, the biggest one measuring 1 cm. My PCP and Pancreatic surgeon say they are harmless and common in "people my age" but I worry they could eventually turn cancerous.

I also have multiple kidney cysts and they are much larger than yours. One is close to 7 cm and another is close to 5 cm. 4 others are estimated to be 2 cm. So far no evidence of cancer. But non-cancerous cysts can eventually cause kidney failure if they become too numerous or too large.

I know this is old, but I need someone to help me. My MRI came back as suspicious for RCC it measures 1.3cm
Does that mean I have RCC or it could be? I have to wait 8 days to see the doctor and my anxiety is through the roof.
