    Chick Corea played the mode of harmonic major on II7#9 in minor. Check his solo on Spain from Light as a feather album.

    Great video, it’s a very unexplored scale. Thank you!

    It not only contains an E triad (as in the G13b9), but also an E7#9b13 (same as E altered but with a natural 5th).

    Great content !
    Do this scale works on How Insensitive to outline the diminished chords like :
    -Playing F harmonic major on the Db diminished ?

      I hear that chord as an A7b9/C# sound so I would think harmonic minor there. But try it and see what you think 😎👍

    Just stumbled across this idea while jamming over a 1625 and using the D harmonic minor over the 6 and wondering if I could use C harmonic minor on the 5. Didn’t work out quite right so I sharpened the Eb and got the sound I was looking for, wondered if it had the name I thought it would and found this video. Cool shit, music is so interesting.

    great lesson and playing.
    how did you come up with those melodic lines- and lines that move with the changes- only using one scale? esp over the dm/gdom/cmaj. sounded great.

      Thank you! :) A lot of what I'm playing there comes straight from my Django Reinhardt-licks catalog. :)

    Great lesson! How did you came up with the idea of G harmonic major scale for D#dim7 chord? It sounded great! Do you think D#dim7 little like D7b9 chord and then G harmonic major scale would be D mixolydian b9? I ask this because I need always some kind of explanation for my scale/chord relations so I can understand and remember it better. And it's also easier for me to remember the sound of the scale/chord relation in this way. Great work Mikko! :)

      Mikko Karhula I didn't come up with it 😁 The way I derive it us more from B harmonic minor (B7 scale) with an added D natural I guess. Not sure if that makes sense 🤔 to mee that dim chord sounds like a B7/D#

    But what to play when it comes to five minor chords (Night and day)? (except arpeggios).

    • @Mikkokosmos
      @Mikkokosmos  7 років тому

      rus ciz thank you for the question but I don't understand? You mean when the V chord is minor? Is there such a chord in Night & Day? What bar? 🤔

    • @rusciz9742
      @rusciz9742 7 років тому

      From bar 9-13.

    • @Mikkokosmos
      @Mikkokosmos  7 років тому

      rus ciz are we in C major? Of so: F#min7b5 = locrian Fmin = dorian Emin7 = aeolian or even phrygian and then you could play G harmonic major over the D#dim.

      Thank you. I'll try.

      @@Mikkokosmos Why G harmonic major and not A# harmonic major (over that D#dim)? which one works better and why?
