How dangerous is fishing line for wildlife?

There are so many ways fishing line and hooks can harm wildlife.
The Rescue Team often rushes out to help wild animals who’ve been entangled in improperly discarded fishing line - like these poor birds. Watch the life-saving work that begins once they’re at TWC to relieve them of this terrible waste.
Wonderful work as always by the TWC team. Very nice to see Andrew doing the commentary (he usually stays modestly in the background) - 21 years of wildlife rescues is just incredible.
The TWC is providing life saving impact on our beautiful wildlife, as well as the public that helps out by taking the time to call in and assist with the rescues. Well done everyone ! Those birds must have been in so much pain before their rescue, especially that poor Heron.
I wish people would take the time to clean up when they are enjoying our outdoor spaces, and it doesn't end there - we have to take the time to safeguard things in our own household garbage like cutting up the connecting rings on the plastic that holds 6 pack bottles together, so that some poor animal doesn't end up with this around their necks. Thank you Art for reminding us all about Nov. 28 and Giving Tuesday. TWC is an amazing team 👍👍
I LOVE YOU ALL ❤ Thanks for everything you all do 🙏🏻 may God pay you back ❤
Great job….. such a shame we have irresponsible fishermen who are causing this damage to our wildlife!
I can't say enough Thank You's!!! I am in awe of what everyone at TWC does every day to help our wildlife. So grateful as well. for the many, many. many people who are in the right place to help animals in need and know who to call ❤ I really wish all humans were responsible and caring and weren't the cause of all this hurt. Keep the message going and hopefully more and more people will hear it, and properly clean up after themselves if they are out among wildlife.
Wow! TWC is so truly amazing! Thank you thank you thank you for all these life-saving rescues! Heartbreaking and heartwarming - so painful to see all these birds and creatures suffering from something that could have been avoided, as Andrew explained so well. I hope this video educates, informs and inspires others to be more responsible with fishing lines, litter and clean up. Thanks again.
amazing work!!
As always, terrific work by Andrew and the TWC Rescue Team, along with the TWC Staff, the TWC Vet Techs, the Vets and the many TWC Volunteers + plus the many people of the public that call in when they sight distressed wildlife!! A job well done!! Please donate to TWC on TUESDAY, November 28, 2023 when all of your donations will be matched!! Thanks to all those that do!! - Sincerely Art
Thank you! Imagine what this does to fish! Fishing is not a sport if both are not consenting!
Right, Nicole, thank YOU! It's not sport, the fish are victims not willing participants. It's not sport, it's intentional cruelty and assault.
That heron was so lucky that they were visible like that. I can't tell you how much fishing garbage I've picked up over the years on our waterfront. It's egregious how much people leave behind.
Huge thanks to the entire team.

You know...I have NEVER understood fishing for "sport". I don't know why it's even legal for people to fish around public waterways. It's not like they're actually going to consume the fish they catch. There need to be more laws preventing this type of thing from occurring in the future. It really is disgusting to me and preventable.
Yes! It's not sport. The fishes are victims not willing participants. It's legal animal abuse and all animal abuse should be illegal.
Amazing!!!❤
