We explore Althorp's Muniment Room, home to 500 years of Spencer family history, with the guidance of Althorp's archivist, Bruce Bailey. Learn how the 7th Earl Spencer dedicated his life to protecting and preserving the history of the estate, leaving behind a road map for future generations.
You speak well, your intelligent and lovely. Charles is lucky to have you in his life and to share his home and the history of the Spencer family with you. A huge asset to the family you are indeed.
I LOVE these!! So much history of a family and of treasures collected over Lifetimes! Cant wait to see and learn more and more!
How wonderful that your do this. My hat goes off to you. Well done,
Oh my goodness ❤! So many beautiful treasures to sort through and to love! I would enjoy spending hours in there! I'm going to do that with some of my parents things! I would love to have a library like this and dedicated room for photos, letters, etc! Beautiful ❤️!
Soo amazing how literally everything was kept.
That the 7th Earl was such a forward thinking man to compile and research all he did was amazing as well as a herculean effort. And Edward, the archivist is another treasure for his organization & saving such documents. Thank you for sharing the immensity of what Althorpe has in history and minutae as treasures
Wow, such an incredible work. Thanks for sharing, it is really valuable.
Even though I'm American and sort of anti-monarchy / anti-titles, I love these old stately homes in England and all the effort that's put into preserving them. My favorite room that I've seen is the library. It seems cozy and grand at the same time. But these are such interesting videos you've shown. I'm considering getting the book on Althorp.
Well done Lady Spencer for sharing the history and journey of the family home. I am fascinated and following from home in Canada.
Bruce Bailey is a National Treasure (world wide). Lady Spencer, I would seriously consider plying him with coffee and stimulants and bombard him with questions while filming. You can't afford to lose a smidgen what knows. Not only does he stand in the gap-he IS the gap. And so genuine and humble don't you agree?
~ WELL DONE Bruce! We can't thank the 7th Earl Spencer but we can thank you for taking the baton with the same measure of dedication. So deserving of award, recognition and perhaps even knighthood. Yeap, knighthood.
Thank you Lady Spencer and to the curator who organized the records.
Thus was more than a job to him.
Oh, this is fantastic! So many historical records around the world have been lost to fire, flood, insurrection, etc. Your family has the very rare blessing and burden of continuous documentation of centuries of history. This was an exciting peek into that world. I enjoy your channel so much, and appreciate that you spend so much time and effort on preservation.
Fascinating Karen, thank you for sharing 😊
Karen it is clear that you love your work and you will be a Spencer known for joining your husband in preserving and enhancing and sharing his rich heritage.
Just love watching this beautiful history. The family work so hard to keep it alive, they are so down to earth.
So interesting, collating the archives of history is so worth all the hard work. Thank you 💕🇦🇺
Congratulations - wonderful work!
I'm truly amazed by these archives. The amount of labor to produce and organize all of that is hard to imagine. Plus, now I know what a muniment room is.
"The Room that is as historical and profound are a treasure that encapsulates the time of genuine standards only" To the House of Spencer, Salutations and Greetings greet thy House and so as the Worlds.

I hope that you feel better very soon!
Wow how exciting, hello from new zealand 🙂
I am inspired to really protect the vast amounts of records my family had kept taking us back to the Elder Brewster on the Mayflower! I think muniment is my new favorite word!
If you like learning history then this is a video that will teach you what had been saved by one family from the time of the Tudors. It is a famous family we learned of in the end of the last century. But here is the history from which it comes. Thank you.
What a beautiful treasure trove!!! Wow!
My goodness all that history
watching from S.Korea 🇰🇷
I am loving your site and am learning so much. One question that I have running through my mind is, with all of the senior staff who have documented such important information, do they have assistants or apprentices in case something happens to the senior staff?
Keep up the great job working with all the history of the home. Thank you.
Incredible!!! God bless!!!✝️❤️❤️
Oh my gosh! Would there be any Uni’s close enough that you could have some kids do a work/study program to help to organize and catalog everything? What an amazing gift.
Such amazing history. Lots of interesting stuff to work out. Really amazing
Fascinating, as usual. I appreciate your videos as they give us a glimpse into a great family’s estate and history. I enjoy your episodes dealing with the estate’s land, soil and other matters. Happy New Year to you, Earl Charles and the Spencer family.
Hope one day they do the history behind the lake.
Happy New Year to you, Charles and your entire Family. How incredible that all of those books and information is now in a digital format than can be researched. I am looking forward to delving into more Spencer Family History. So excited!!!
Hey there! I came across your comment and I just had to reach out and say hi. Your perspective really caught my attention and I would love to get to know you better. Would you be interested in chatting sometime? Looking forward to hearing back from you! 😊
Has the current Earl Spencer, written any books on the history of Althorpe? He is a historian and writer. That would be a fascinating read. Your home is rich with history.
Follow you from Sicily
Thank You 🌹
And, Best Wishes On This Wonderful Journey/Adventure.
Great job digitizing, Karen.
I absolutely love those videos ❤Thank you so much for sharing!
such a rich history
A treasure...
Wow!!!
I would be useless because I would never get out of there. I would live in there and read and read and read. Oh my word!
🧡🧡
Without being rude I wish you’d all wear gloves touching delicate items 🙏🏻
Have you shown your muniment room to Julie Montagu, Viscountess Hinchingbrooke, daughter-in-law of the 11th Earl of Sandwich so she might feel less daunted by her organization of their muniment room at Mapperton? Lol 📜🔎📖📚📒
The archives are very maintain and would like to congratulate your family for at least having the foresight to do that. Thank you so much for sharing and really enjoyed seeing your archive room. Your family has a rich history and I am very glad that you're making sure it is not lost.
I only wish the vlogs you put out were longer. More importantly, the history of the people who make things run smoothly! Also, more history would be nice. Coming from you, instead of looking it up, would make your vlogs more personable! I'm an American, so would much rather hear things from you, than having to look things up! If you don't have the time to do it, why do it?!
Can we please see the Spencer family jewels
How beautiful . There is some good in England. Harry!
