For an exterior drainage contractor this thing is kinda perfect with the trenching attachment, wide bucket for French drain gravel & forks for lifting sidewalk squares. 80k is a lot for 49hp but a large stand on skid steer that can't dig or heat in cabin I think they priced it at the upper end of acceptable. I'd consider it honestly because it can also do water service & shallow sewer work as well. It wouldn't be hard to cover a 1500/mo payment
No way. You have to turn around to move in order to trench. Horrible. The backhoe is a gimmick. This is a poorly designed tractor at best. Complete gimmick
@ 6:18 "Go fast mode, dig in pile mode, dirt mode" Seeing pictures on the panel and guessing. That's the Power Management System. The PMS dial affects speed, responsiveness, tractive-effort and engine anti-stall. Really helpful depending on the attachments: cold planer or trencher. You're not an operator, but Scholten's Equip should train you on what all the neat little buttons, levers, thingamajigs, doohickeys and dials do.
It would be cool to see this on a little larger frame size. Something that can still load dump trucks and have a little more depth to backhoe. Still be narrow enough to fit on a deck over trailer. Like others have said, run a 540 pto and a 3 point with it too, keep the price under 100k for the next size up with those features. You’d have a real winner there
I'm glad you called it by what it is and not a skid steer it's a very similar idea to the DL550 from Case it's straight up a compact dozer first with skid steer capability for loading though it will handle more than most skid steers ... I wanna get one of these to start my own business so I wouldn't have to have 2 machines these are some pretty unique ideas for sure
That's really neat guys!!! I've always seen them on like top 10 craziest JCB machines and was wondering if you guys would ever get one. Can see them being really useful on like a small/narrow job site!! Hope all this craziness clears up so can stop by soon
I wrote to JCB way back in 76, with a design for a half track JCB based on 3C replaced the wheels with triangle track, joystick steering turned the front wheels and braked the tracks, rubber tracks. Never replied Funnily we have these mini skid machines, now this matching.
1 Can you move the machine while in the backhoe position or do you have to turn around each time you want to move? 2 Can the loader be operated in the seat middle position? I could see that as being beneficial in a job where lots of backing up in tight areas is necessary.
JCB 1CXT brilliant bit of kit, & side door access so much safer, used one a few years ago. Would be nice if they made a larger version using 3CX Compact, which gives you more leg room & fit it with tracks, plus you would get the 14' digging depth available, & 2,690kg Maximum Loader Capacity
This is typical of JCB they innovated the loader/back hoe in their UK plants in 1945 and kept improving it and now they've turned the skid steer into a construction site swiss army knife, nice retro fit of the Kubota bucket attachment, would not be surprised if JCB them selves do something similar as standard that will accommodate other companies tooling.
That is a cool little machine, I can see it being a great rig in lots of tight quarters, or even replace a skid steer on a farm. That side door is a great feature.
We've had one for a couple of years. Great if you need to do a bit of everything and don't want your property looking like a equipment dealers yard sale. Is it as good as a dedicated excavator or skid steer loader? Nope. That should be obvious. Its not designed to be. Is it underpowered? It depends. Still gets the job done. On the other hand, it's clearly understressed and the Perkins engine is simple to maintain and tough as nails. Its horses for courses. If you buy one and then bitch its not as good as a U55 Kubota, you're a Muppet.
For the money (80k), you’re best off with a 10-13k LB mini ex of you are wanting a backhoe. You could get a used skidsteer and mini ex for 40k each…two of those would be superior to one of these. I got a Kubota l47 with similar specs and kinda wanting tracks. Not having PTO or 3point hitch is a huge downside. My backhoe has 12 foot reach (measured from the out riggers with no extension). That’s the bear minimum id want and ideally wanting 16 foot. Honestly backhoe type work isn’t as common as one would think…loader and 3 PT gets a lot done efficiently.
so if I order one off you, do you think I'm fine with you hanging on to it and not telling me its arrived so that you can use it as a floor demonstrator and running up hours.
I mean. Impressive. I'm 5'10" and I have to slid the seat back in our deer 410 or I can't swivel the seat around but if I slid it to far back then it still won't swivel around
At 49 hp I’m pretty sure I don’t want one. Backhoes and machines like this particular one are notoriously good at nothing and Soso at everything. You are better off having a dedicated skid steer and a dedicated mini excavator
Jack of all traits, master of none. If you can´t afford an excavator, a skid steer and a wheel loader though, this might be a good solution if you are willing to make some compromises.
no info on capacity ... neither this video nor the link you provide in the description gives any info pertaining to rated operating capacity, max lift capacity, etc. Where can we get that info?
Neat, but all those exposed hoses will get caught on tree branches and tear out. I don't like how those back hoe hoses are routed (@ 1:30) across that steel fence in the back, seems they would eventually cut themselves in half by all the shake rattle roll that machine will do over rocky ground. I think it's a good design but wonder about longevity.
Ditch Witch tried this with XT850 and XT1600 in 2006-2013 They were miserable failures for two reasons. One was the fact that Ditch Witch rolled out crap equipment with numerous product design and engineering failures. Second, was everyone markets this as the do-all backhoe on track. Guess what? The limiting factor is still there. A backhoe is fine for short and crew limited production operations, e.g. 1-3 days site duration and minimal work scope or if it has high longer travel time between work points where wheels are better. This is a backhoe and now it has a higher maintenance undercarriage and slower travel times between work points. Productivity drops several levels as a backhoe but operational costs are higher. Delta between COO and production is inverse. You could always be in the slop but then you wouldn't always be working either.
I don't disagree with your point. However, I think you are looking at it from one perspective. This machine shines in smaller job situations. 10000lbs means a 1 ton truck and car hauler, no CDL. So on the small 1 day jobs such as residential plumbing, its one machine, one truck one trailer and if need be, one guy.
Impressive! More so is the dealership that says yes, you can keep your buckets and we will help you out! Kudos to you guys!
I own a plumbing company and this unit is a dream come true!!!
I want one. Best of both skidstear and mini excavator. First time I've ever seen anything like it.
You don't want a jcb
@@jasonwilliams3223 why?
@@jasonwilliams3223 I too would like to know why
If you think that's neat of both worlds check out the mecalacs combo skidsteer excuvator and telehandler that's hands down the machine to get

Wow. The awesome part is if your bucket load is too heavy you can use the backhoe to counter balance. Pretty freaking kool idea.

@Steven Seagull I was wondering that too about driving forward.
Add a 3 point and pto and it's all in one!
I was surprised to see a commercial in the middle of this commercial I was watching. Neat machine for the independent contractor
Ive been following this machine for years waiting for it hit the US
It’s in the us..
Dream machine
All jcb skidsteers are built in US
@@pastorkeri it isn’t a skid steer
JCB is making some amazing machines. I have no reason to ever own one of these, but it'd be great for a rental for some work on my property.
Always good to buy machines
That's a great piece of kit that EVERY farm should have.
That would take my landscape and my firewood business to a next level
You said can't look at the engine no room in there. Sounds fun to work on LOL
Ya the way everything is so accessable is one of the best parts of skid steers.
WOOW JCB has come up with an all-purpose utility vehicle, WITH TRACKS!
It’s been available for 3 years , it’s a good all round machine , ideal for say a landscape company or small contractor
That was an awesome review and I really like your style. It was interesting and you didn't take yourself too seriously. Good editing and camera work!
I agree, the guy is great. They should pay him just to do videos. Wonder if they have one on the teleskid.
Did they finally bring this to the usa it's been out over 6 years
i've seen the exact type of machinery but with wheels and i've gotta say i was pretty impressed by what i've seen :D

Good review. I like it, reminds me of those assault drones from Call of Duty MW3
Can the excavator bucket dump into the front loader bucket? Like mini dump truck built in?
