00:02:21 Treatment for stress fracture
Stress fractures can pose a significant problem, even though many people don't think that they're real fractures. Don't believe it--they are. The healing time for fractures is about four to six weeks, and while stress fractures can develop in any foot bone, they most frequently affect one of the metatarsals in the front of the foot.
Signs of a foot fracture can be subtle and include pain and a slight swollen area on top of the foot. Most often the pain is localized over one metatarsal or toe bone.
While stress fractures are most commonly associated with physical activity, you don't have to be an athlete to develop one. It can develop as a result of having other health issues such as osteoporosis.
Treatment involves avoiding weight-bearing exercises such as long walks and immobilization in a walking cast. If the fracture fails to heal within four to six weeks, an MRI may be necessary to confirm the diagnosis and determine treatment.

In Junior High I had a 6" growing spurt. The first football game I played, I was down, hit late & broke my ankle. Dr said no football as my bones had not hardened.
I ran cross-country or long distance and practiced on gravel roads, wear converse tennis shoes in 1970. Now, 40 years later, I was wearing dress shoes and hurt. The Dr sold me inserts which hurt worse. He said I had 7 old stress fractures in the long bones of the left, 9 in the right foot. Now, into my 64 year, the top of my feet are red. They don't hurt but are concerning. I was in the 7,000 mile club before leaving high school and did the same in college which added another 2,500 miles. Our team took first in the nation as 5 & 6 mile long distance courses were normal. It was common to run 5 miles in 25 minutes flat. Plus, a state record of 4:10.09 in the mile. It still stands as the high school was small, so 5 classes then changed to meters.
I take a blood thinner, have no pain, actually don't I don't wear socks. I sleep with feet elevated but nothing changes. I am not worried but my family freaks out with some swelling but the RED color. Suggestions?
Thanks (Dec, 2022)
This is exactly me. I went to urgent care and they saw nothing on xray. However I have all the signs you mentioned. I’m trying to heal. Thank you for this video!
Thank you, that was really helpful.
Best synopsis of stress fracture (foot) on the internet.

Is it possible for a dress fracture not to show on the MRI but show on an ultrasound and x-ray?
Pain near cuboid near the ankle and painful to move 2d to pinky toe for 10 weeks

well said.. too many doctors don't know how to properly diagnose .
resulting in delayed healing..
What u said are all spot on! 5 months after 1st diagnosis.. n yet healing.. looks like a relapsed as a result of carrying weight bearing stuffs
i have swelling and pain on the underside of my big toe, but how do i know if it's either a stress fracture or gout? the issue is not at the base of the toe. it's more in the centre/middle of the bottom of the toe. I also get an intense feeling of pressure building up in the toe when I stand up and my blood pressure increases. The feeling of pressure in my toe is so intense it feels like my toe is about to explode, the pain is extreme. What should I look for in determining whether it's gout or a stress fracture?
What was it bro?
