@@adamalami9625 Thank you for the reply and feedback. I appreciate that. Well, I'll be honest with you. Motor swap for this ESL is not really a good thing to do. Most of the time the actual chipset inside goes bad and even you install the motor, most likely it won't work. Even if you get lucky and it works in your case, be sure it won't last long. Because of the manufacturer design, it's made to break. That's why we offer much better solution. Steering lock emulator, that looks same a the actual lock. I own Mercedes Benz A180 W169.I have a strange ignition issue: I put thr key in and I can always hear the click sound.Problem is,I have no lights on the dashboard when I turn the key.If I keep switching eventually I get the dashboard lights and that’s how I know engine will start.Sometimes it takes 15-20 minutes to get the dashboard lights! I don’t know if councidence or not,but if I hit under the steering column,I get the dashboard lights on,but not all the time, sometimes without hitting and repeatetly switch on/off I can start the car.Its intermittent. What could it be? Is it the EIS module ,ESL module (the small motor inside) or just some wiring issue? It driving me crazy and I’m a bit afraid to start removing my column( I know I can set the ESL on unlocked position by turning ignition on and removing battery while its unlocked ).What is your opinion?
Hello! Thank you for your comment. Problem is with the steering lock, sounds like. The steering lock is about to die, that's why you are getting this intermittent problem. Also what year is your vehicle? You can send us your EIS + Key + Steering lock, we'll check it out for you. As said on the video, there is no "real" repair for this steering lock, that's why we offer emulator. It makes more sense to install emulator and never have this problem again, rather than put yourself in the same situation where Steering Lock can start acting up again. Please, contact us directly and we'll help you out. ecuteam.com/contact
ECU Team Corp hello, thank you for reply,it’s a 2005,Diesel SE.I just realised that knocking under the column doesn’t do anything, its enough just to turn ignition on/of repeatetly until dashboard comes on.The click sound I can hear absolutely every time I remove/insert the key,so I guess the lock works ok,so I’m thinking that my EIS is about to fail...hopefully it won’t be too expensive to fix/replace...I’ll save your link just in case, the most painfull part its the price probably :))
Nice.I had lately same problem and I removed this part and put emulator instead and there will be no problem in the future. But question is why the factory not do this right at the factory????
Hi, great video, very clear explanation and useful info, thanks so much! It’s interesting that for me the factory ESL worked for 10 years, after which I had to change the ESL motor twice, within only 2 years. Also, the motors looked messy probably because of the carbon brushes wearing out. Why do you think the repairs only lasted a year each? Were the replacement motors already used or low quality, or did something break on the circuit board inside the ESL module after the first 10 years which now damages any motor you would install by overpowering it? Or is the overvoltage coming from outside the ESL? For example wires being wet, corroded or a grounding issue. If someone knew the exact source of the problem maybe it could be repaired for good. Thanks!
Hello! Thank you for your feedback. It helps a lot. You got very lucky that 2 motors in a row worked. Normally it's a problem with the actual computer that is inside of the ESL. When the ESL goes bad, the chipset inside of it stops working and no matter how many motors you are going to replace, it won't work. That's why I said you got lucky. New motors are not reliable because they are made in China, not Germany. That is why we suggest ESL Emulator, it is much more secure and reliable solution.
Question about my W204 C300. I believed it was the ESL because it would say “take key out of ignition” as soon as I put the key in and obviously it wouldn’t start but then I realized the steering wheel is free and does turn in both directions. Does anyone know what it could be or could it still somehow be the ESL?
@@ECUTeamCorp i already had requested a quote for the ECL but I was just waiting on that. I’ll send another an email over to see if we could find the issue
This might be a coincidence I would say. Sometimes it happens when couple things goes bad at the same time. Ignition System has nothing to do with the ESP. And it could be 2 different things. ESP module as a separate unit (older Mercedes models) or if you are driving something newer than 2004, ESP module is integrated into the ABS Control Module, just replace it with the brand new one, because used one you can't program. And I don't thing anyone can do something like this.
